- We got Lucy from a pet store after vowing never to buy a pet in a store. She was so cute, though, and had an air of superiority, that we just had to get her. We found out as we were purchasing her that she had had a hernia operation as a puppy and also had her dew claws removed, so she had to be in a lot of pain at an early age.
She has also had a couple of accidents due to her spinning but and that, along with her operations, has given her some quirks.
Whatever the case she is, as you will see, a loving happy dog.
Awwww….I had a Coton from 1997-2010. She was named Lacey. Chantilly Lace. She looked a lot like your girl. I’m thinking your dear, little Lucy was the result of a puppy mill breeding which often can bring health issues. What’s done is done, though. I’m glad she was able to enjoy her life with you and your family who obviously loved her very much. No more pet store doggies, though. It enables those nasty puppy mills. Fly free, sweet Lucy! 🌈 You were loved. ❤️
We had vowed never to buy a pet from a pet sore but when we saw Lucy, we just had to get her. I'm glad we did. A final note - over the past year her tail hair regrew. It wasn't as luxurious as it had been, but soft and fluffy nonetheless. I miss her so much.
I have 5 animals in my house and our coton dog is the alpha male. Our Buddy spins when he’s excited. Our dog sings in a high pitch but he learned that from our hound. They sing together. Thanks for sharing Lucy with us👍🏻

My Coton, Lacey (RIP) used to spin at times, too. Mostly when she wanted to go out the patio door to go potty after I excitedly asked if she wanted to. Or when I got home.
So cute and I agree with you to not buy but to adopt, and save a life.

Lovely Lucy. We have one too, a male, Rocco. Affectionate, sweet, outgoing with people but not friendly with other dogs.
Lucy is particular with other dogs. She is not afraid of any other dog no matter how big they are, but she can be standoffish - she is royalty after all. I'm happy to say that her tail hair is slowly coming back.
I had a dachshund that could sing really well, but my cotton de tulear had no singing voice. They were hilarious singing together. The dachshund would howl and the cotton would make tiny noises, but do it keeping the beat.

@@greghansen7463 Glad you replied. My dogs are already in dog Heaven. Especially the dachshund always asked for prayer. I am a grandmother. Had them in my youth.

I noticed with my coton if I ever look her in the eyes she licks my face the same way.
The horror of what Lucy's mother and father went through to produce Lucy is unimaginable, you should never buy from a pet store-there is no excuse.
I agree, but we are very happy we got Lucy. We may have saved her from an even worse fate.

Oh my gosh. Be nice. They saved this dog from a really bad life.
Its not Lucy's fault she was in a pet store, and she really needed a great loving home for her to have a chance to survive and thrive.
