This guy is a good guy , but carrying is such an ingrained instinct . Because criminals can easily purchase any type of gun easily makes it necessary in some places to protect oneself . People feel like that they have no choice but to carry . If guns were taken off criminals then who are they going to aim them at ? The army? The buy back scheme worked well in austrslia and there has not been one mass shooting since . This guy is talking as though the whole poulation should be used to carrying . In other words , other whites . He is not giving this advice for the good of the country . Its obviously a trump supporter. This man believes fox news.

    • @p8entlyobvious383

You need a safe haven, because Trump is steering th country to anarchy . Its only natural that there will be bad guys around in a country where selling the latest military weapons to the public is virtually available to potential terrorists . He talks as if america is like living in Afghanistan. Its guys like this who will be dangerous when the govenmnt needs o disarm e public from war weapons . Soldiers are bringing even worse gun culture back with them , they still think they are on the battle field. You add to the paranoia. Trump is an evil man

You are the master interviewer! The conversations are so relaxed and real. I have watched alot of other peoples interviews and alot of them are hard to watch. the host trying hard to get information out of the subject. The subject trying to evade the tough questions., etc. But you sit there and it feels like to the audience that you know these people intimately. You really do your research on the topic at hand! They willingly tell you everything. VERY INTERESTING TOPICS. Well done!

Password Tip - Use the same key phrase for every login except add the first and last letter of the website to the beginning or the end of your key phrase. For example if your key phrase is 19IceSkatingDucks!
Your password for UA-cam would be YE19IceSkatingDucks!
Your password for Facebook would be FK19IceSkatingDucks!
This way you always remember the key phrase and each website has a unique password, so if one site gets hacked your good everywhere else. I have worked in tech since 1986 and have never had a password issue using this technique. Thanks Patrick for all the great interviews and instructional videos! It's important to differentiate between pre crisis management and dealing with someone who comes to you in the time of an active crisis. If you are taking enemy fire or cornered and afraid and your smoke signals aren't working and lets say your friend is executed because you had to scream for help, their anger is not personal. They're probably scared, angry and frustrated.
Anywho, I learned something through years of wildlife rehabilitation you may find useful that will teach you how to aid someone mid crisis. Animals, particularly, wild animals, live in a persistent state of fight or flight. It teaches you tolerance, selflessness, gentleness, sacrifice and patience.
Regardless of your intentions, they will try to hurt you in fear when you arrive to render them aid. Deer are the worst ones. Taking a fully grown adult deer hoof to your head while trying to give them an IV, you learn to expect this behavior from them as a job hazard and you don't get angry or offended when you get kicked in the head or bitten. You begin to expect it and get pleasantly surprised if you don't get hurt while trying to help.
With wild animals, they don't know your intentions and perceive you as a threat until you prove otherwise -- particularly, when approaching them deceptively or startling them.
That trust between wild animals and the rehabber is one of the most precious relationships. Mainly, because it isn't built on profit or the obligation of permanence. If you really want to help them, it is a completely selfless action you do with no expectations of personal gain.
You set them free after you fix them instead of hold them captive. You would be surprised how many of them stick around by choice. They look at you differently and for them you get to be the hero and probably the only human beings they have ever learned to trust.
You'll teach them to learn the fear of humans again before they're rereleased by reintegration and leaving them be in a semi natural environment with little contact. We call it a graduation station. That's where they learn pre crisis management. Lol.
People are scary, you have to remember that when that animal lashes out while all you are doing is trying to help, it isn't personal. Try to imagine what that feels like for a wild animal. Every day, evasion. Caution. Instinct. Aversion. Repeat this until eventually injury or death occurs. Laying there wounded and crying for help...when you approach them -- they don't understand you wont hurt them. To them they are in pain, weak, vulnerable or dying.
That survival instinct is the same one people use in a crisis.
We know that natural order ordains the sick vulnerable and weak to be the first to go, stragglers at a watering hole. They are not the first to be saved and they know this. They'll see you as a vulture until you show them differently.
I'm not trying to excuse kicking someone innocent in the head, figuratively, atleast when injured...but you take the injury, you keep working.
You don't ever depend on them to instantly trust you like a dog or cat who is better socialized and integrated into our world, you don't expect them to be pleasant...but some animals genuinely do become docile and learn to trust you. Those moments are what makes taking care of them worth it. Setting them free makes the injury you sustain trying to help worth it.
Next time think of the wild animals perspective instead of how you look to others when deciding how to respond, it makes you better at dealing with someone in crisis -- not merely planning in the event one should occur. I think veterans could heal a lot of trauma through caring for wildlife...I know it was one of the best experiences for me before my crisis occured.
Anywho, please don't give people your password strategy. I worry about people using that to plan a cyber attack against you. Stay safe.
And I'm impressed with your knowledge on these issues down to statistics. You have read the reports, some of the same ones I have read. Great interview.
LMK if you make a non profit for people who are in the *middle* of a crisis instead of preparing for one. I'd love to help out.

Regarding safes, the best strategy would be to have a fake safe in an easily discoverable place. Inside that one put a bit of cash and some official documents/valuables you don’t particularly care to lose. And put all your important stuff in an extremely hidden place somewhere else. The thief will just waste their time trying to break into the fake safe and leave all your other items alone.
An added bonus to this strategy is that you can get away easy if someone decides to beat the combination of that safe out of you. As long as there is a decent amount of money in there they will leave you alone. If you want to spice things up you can record all the serial numbers of the notes in there and maybe throw in a flash drive with a virus on it.

It would have been appropriate to talk about Scott Halverson, ex Navy Seal who died in Fallujah. One needs to pay greater attention to people like former Navy Seals. SCOTT HALVERSON who was the "poster boy" for the Navy Seal; he served for more than 12 years in a leadership position and then was let go. Scott had a hard time finding work in the Civilian world, even taking a job as Recreational Park Caretaker. He decided to join "Black Water"! Big mistake! He had to go through the usual "training" but found that the guy running the active training wasn't teaching it properly so Scott was going to expose him. This put Scott in a compromised position. Scott and two other guys were assigned a suicide mission. With NO armoured vehicle but just a standard civilian vehicle and no other protection nor proper directions nor map of Fallujah they were bullied into taking on a mission which was deliberately rigged for disaster. At an intersection in Fallujah all three were gunned down, bodies burned and mutilated; this is how Scott Halverson and two others ended their lives. It didn't have to end this way but most tragically it was the fault of Black Water and a personal vendetta by someone Scott was having problems with. So many military veterans have too few options available after their dedicated service. These are the cream of the crop and need to be honored and cared for, not forgotten and discarded!

“It’s not to hard for people with mental health to flip that switch” it’s not hard for people to flip the switch in general and everyone has varying levels of anxiety and depression that only makes people not seek help because of the trade offs. I could understand a psychotic disorder but there’s such a range that’s like saying it’s easy for poor people to break the law so they should be watched more.

One of the things he said, "highly functional physociopath" born that way or made that way, but most likely they already had those traits. This is the reason most people in government are as duplicitous as they are, they are meant to be that way and that is why they have made it as far as they have, IMO.

The password advice is iffy as if a hacker can somehow obtain one password from a weaker encryption hash and see the pattern they will then be able to access everything. Add numbers and symbols, vary them for each password.

In South Africa we have regular home invasions. The invaders knows that you are likely to have a safe and they will hurt your loved ones in a horrific way if you do not tell them where it is and how to open it. The best defence is having 2 safes. One has a bit of cash and odds and ends and easy to find. The other one is the real McCoy with the real valuables.
