    I'm uncertain if my 401(k) and IRA will secure a stable future. I'm looking for an investment strategy that aligns with my risk tolerance and financial goals. I've set aside $1 million for this purpose. Would you recommend investing in stocks or purchasing rental property?

      You're right, I used a financial advisor. Approaching retirement, I've benefited greatly from their supervision. Starting late, I knew index fund compound interest wouldn't be enough. It's funny how I've outperformed peers with more years of investing experience.

      I totally agree. Based on personal experience working with a financįal manager, I currently have ($2million) in a well-diversified portfolio that has experienced exponential growth from when i started. Those who fail to make the right decisions early in life end up regretting it. Becoming a millionaire through a Roth IRA or a 401(k) involves different strategies for maximizing profits. A Roth IRA offers tax-free withdrawals in retirement, which can be advantageous if you expect to be in a higher tax bracket later in life. On the other hand, a 401(k) provides tax-deferred growth and potential employer contributions, boosting your savings. The optimal choice depends on factors like your current and future tax situation, employer match, and investment options. Consulting a financial advisor can help tailor a strategy that aligns with your financial goals and circumstances.

    My advice is always to keep the majority in ETFs that cover multiple sectors. Then have a couple stocks, as a small percentage, picked out that you feel personally attached to or interested in. That way you can mitigate a lot of the risk but also have a personal touch to your portfolio. I feel this mitigates some of the emotional downsides or disinterest people have with investing. Also helps with the urge to constantly buy/sell with fluxes in the market. Grateful i have an adviser at this point. major Thanks to James Fletcher Brennan

    At my last job before I retired they added a Roth to the 401K so you could do both post tax and pre tax contributions. My personal suggestion is to take a 33/66% approach meaning for every 1% you put in a Roth you put 2% in a Traditional IRA or 401K. If you max out the Roth convert the remainder into a Traditional or 401K if possible. For investment and tax reasons you will never regret this approach.

    MISSING ADVICE: to select the broker and the fund that has a minimum Expense Ratio! Also, Roth IRA option with a good index fund and low expense ratio may already exist in your 401k, so you may not need a new broker.

    • @decibella12
      @decibella12 2 роки тому +4

      can you elaborate on that?

    • @michaelv77
      @michaelv77 2 роки тому +13

      @@decibella12 , an expense ratio (ER) describes management fees for owning a fund. For example, if management takes $30 per year for every $10K that you invest within fund, the expense ratio is 0.3%. This fee eats into your investment, so you should compare fees before investing. Anything under 0.1% is good, and Fidelity advertise even 0% ER index funds. I assume they are managed automatically without human involvement, so no service fees.
      Your 401k may allow you to invest in ROTH as well, so no separate IRA is needed. But again check ERs of all your investments to minimise service fees. In the distant future you will roll over your 401k to IRA before hitting age of 72.5 anyway since required minimum distributions do not touch Roth in your IRA, but do require from your Roth in 401k.

    • @Leeon_King
      @Leeon_King 2 роки тому

      @@decibella12 If I'm understanding what they're saying correctly, in other words choose a broker/fund that you pay less money to annually. I believe FSKAX is 0.015% so for every $10,000 you invest, you'll pay $1.50 annually compared to Vanguard's equivalent which is 0.04% or $4 per year with that same amount.
