I used to go there 60+ years ago as a child. It was still a working fishing wharf at that time and during crab season they cooked the crabs in huge pots out in front of the shops. Aliotos was where we ate and it was always Choppino with sourdough bread.
What, you guys didn't go to the Castro?! A lot of good places to eat there as well. My favorite seafood restaurant is near there - Church and Market - the Woodhouse Fish Company. Best crabcakes and Make-your-own Arnold Palmers in the city! The only place I've eaten in China Town was Gold Mountain and it was fantastic. O
There is a booth on The Grotto that sells a crab chowder. There's two actually. One is kind of a golden yellow, and it's okay, but the really good one is creamy white. Get that in a bread bowl. It's cheaper than going in and paying tourist prices and it's amazing.
Best kept secret for those travelling and stretching a budget...a Safeway supermarket (major supermarket chain in the Bay Area) is located in the Northpoint Mall on Mason St and Bay St as well as a Walgreens pharmacy (largest US chain drug store) in the same building in the Wharf area for familiar comfort food, deli items, baked goods, microwave food, US candy and snacks, and medicine. Where the locals shop.
You were both in heaven, so lovely to see you euphoric while in San Francisco! I always head first to the Fisherman's Wharf for seafoods, the bakeries for take home breads and pastries and yes, off to the Girardelli chocolate house! Great city for it's ambience!
Tourists are often unprepared for how cold SF can be, even in the spring/summer. It's common to see them in t-shirts and shorts, freezing their butts off. Glad you had a good time!
How have I not watched use before 🤦♀️🤦♀️ It’s the closest thing to a holiday I will get in awhile 👎🏻 need to watch more of your videos 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Hope you are both doing well and keeping safe ❤️
I can't wait to visit san francisco again your video reminded me of my last fantastic visit to fisherman's wharf more than 2 years ago, San Francisco is so beautiful with great food and views!
I would have to take the sourdough bread bowl with a side of Metformin, but woooow, that looks wonderful. I love New England style clam chowder and I love good sourdough, so I would be in heaven -- especially with a delicious Anchor Steam Beer for washing it down!
Oh wow. My wife and I did San Francisco for our Honeymoon 12 years ago. We also had the clam chowder in a bread bowl at Fisherman's Wharf and Ice cream at Ghirardelli. Don't worry too much about the calories, you probably burned them all off walking up and down the hills.
Sourdough bread clam chowder bowls are the best. Calamari cost is about average for piers/boardwalks for the amount you got. The sundaes looked awesome even missing a cherry.
Places to eat around Fisherman's Wharf: Boudins Bakery, Scoma's, Cioppino's, Pescatore, Fog Harbor Fish House. I'd try to steer clear of the sea food stands they ate at. Although, the Alioto's one isn't so bad. Try to buy souviniers in China town, or go a couple blocks inward from the main street. For breakfast: The Hollywood Cafe, Surisan, Beach St Grill, just to name some. Do not drive!! Parking is expensive!! Lyft and Uber are everywhere and there's a few bus routes and the cable car that heads to the Wharf. And you WILL do a lot of walking!! So bring walking shoes!!
hate to tell you guys but it's going to be in the upper 60's to low 70's for the next week in SF. it has been pretty cold here for a few weeks. watching this video makes me want to head up to the city for some good chowder and Ghiradelli's!!
Bread bowls are awesome. And clam chowder is one of my all-time favorites! I think you should learn how to make sourdough so that you'll have a supply in Japan. Especially if you love that type of bread.
it's so good to see you guys enjoying all the good stuff we have in san francisco .i really wanted to meet up with you but i was in tokyo when you guys were here. please make sure to come and visit us again soon!
Oh, Shinichi! For nearly $15, I hope you made them give you that cherry!! Everything looked delicious! The great part about SF is it's a walking city filled with hills, so it's easy to walk off all those calories. When I went, we stayed in Chinatown, and on our first day, we walked to Ferry Building, then all the way around up to Ghirardelli, past the Golden Gate Bridge, to the far side of the Presidio. It was great!
I am so sad I missed you guys when you were in SF :( I just discovered your channel not too long ago. As an SF native (still living here), I have to agree that Boudin has amazing sourdough and clam chowder! Thank you for sharing your foodie adventures and hope you guys will come back to SF someday for another meet and greet!
Welcome to San Francisco! The sourdough and Anchor Steam is why I chose to be born in the area. You did right by having clam chowder in a sourdough bowl. Fried calamari is best with fries and malt vinegar, not that nasty red sauce. You have to go over to the Ferry Building on The Embarcaero (which used to be a 2-level highway until it collapsed during the 1989 earthquake) and go to Hog Island Oyster Company and blow $200 on oysters from local waters, Washington State, and Vancouver Canada. Trust me you will be thanking me. The wife and I always do that when we go back up to SF (we live in Santa Cruz now). And go to the North Beach district for amazing Italian food. Just follow your nose - it's hard to go wrong! Stick with the Sangiovese or Barrolo wines and you'll thank me again.
We’ve been waiting for your San Francisco vids. Next time we will try to set up a tour of the ghiradelli factory when you guys visit again. Ryan’s aunt works there . Hoping to see you in “The City” again soon!
Hi guys! If you loved ghirardelli’s ice cream you have to try Fenton’s creamery in Oakland. It’s just across the bay. Check it out on yelp. Their crab sandwich is really good as well. Enjoy!
Hello Shinichi and Satoshi! It is so wonderful to see this video with more of the video clips of your trip to San Francisco! I'm so glad you found good things to eat. When I was about 10, I visited Ghirardelli Square, and I had the same sundae that Satoshi did! It is so good. Shinichi's sundae looks amazing, too! So what if it had 1810 calories? It's a special trip and it's clear you enjoyed trying it. :-) You can eat more healthfully later. Thanks for the great video. Hugs!
OMG! The seafood and the chowder I am drooling! The price wasn't bad considering it's a tourist spot but I think the sundaes were expensive. Did Satoshi eat the cherry? Lol
Love, love, love Boudin. We have one in my town and I love to go for lunch because afterward the manager doesn't mind if I just sit, read and drink coffee for an hour or so. In Union Square where you caught the cable car, if you had gone past the bank, towards the Hotel Nikko and turned right and gone up a few blocks, you would have come to Johnny Foleys' Irish House. In my opinion one of the best restaurants in S.F. Hopefully if you come again you'll get a chance to try it.
yea!!! thanks for showing San Fran, my husband and i are going this spring................*** Also i went to the Daiso OMG I found the rice ball shaker and the auto Nori wrap for Sushi. Thank you so much, I got the last auto-Nori sushi wrapper and second to the last rice ball shaker. Jasmine rice is on the stove,I cant find my black sesame... the Nori is out..I would love a live Q&A with you fellas. I love the channel.
Great video guys. San Fransisco is very high on my travel wishlist. And having seen that great food... I need to go there even sooner. That ice-cream with that fudge brownie.... I need it haha. Have a great weekend!
STUFR Short Travel Unique Food Reviews really do your homework if you can. The food on The Grotto is aimed at tourists. It's very expensive, and okay. There's good things, but the really good food is in town. If that's what you're looking for. Also, there are lots of really neat things to do that aren't necessarily on the bus routes or tourist maps. Really do your homework before you come. You'll enjoy it so much more.
You were only 2hrs away! I’ve been all over there so many times, and yes the storefront was greatly upgraded about 2/3years ago! Don’t forget to check out the ships that are “dry docked” too. A bit of history and it’s only 5.00/person! Have fun Btw - you only need a wind breaker! Once you start walking around you will be fine!😉
SanFran is my fave USA city&it is Sydney's sister city with some similarities. I love the clam chowder, other food looks yum. It does get chilly with it being windy city reputation Thanks
I think they should serve smaller portions at a lower price may be around $5 in tourists city like San Francisco so that tourists are able to try out multiple dishes. I am not talking about only desert but all dishes. That way tourists would have fun and business wpuld spread out across multiple joints. 😀😀😀
The best clam chowder are the one outside not the restaurant.. I've have tried every clam chowder in the restaurant and nothing compared to the one outside.
I spent a week in San Francisco, and somehow never actually went into Fisherman's Wharf (I walked around the outside / along the water?) ... I already wanted to go back, but now I HAVE to! Haha...
"Damnit." Me too, Shinichi. me, too 😅 by the way you dressed really well! Not so much for weatherbut great for style. In the beginning fo the video you looked like a model strutting down the catwalk advertising fashionable sportswear xD
It might be an interesting project to try to culture your own sourdough starter in Japan to bake some sourdough and see if the local wild yeast in Japan is different from other places.
What a fun video Brothers!!!!! I love sourdough bread and clam chowder!!! And that seafood! OH! MY! GOSH!!! It’s so funny, because when I saw brother Shinichi’s brownie sundae-my first thought was “where’s the cherry?” ☺️ I cannot wait to see more SF videos! Thank you for sharing! Now.....I need to go feed my sourdough starter!!
Erin Uber......Awwwwww! Sister!! I received sourdough starter 2 years ago. I’m supposed to be feeding it, every month. Truth be told, I’ve not fed it in over 9 months-because it’s hard to find bread flour in my neck-of-the-woods. After seeing brother Shinichi’s Sourdough Boule, it made me realize that I REALLY need to get some flour and feed my starter. Sending ((hugs)) back to you!!
Aww, so glad this older video popped up in my feed. I just booked a trip to SF for my birthday in December. Thanks for the food suggestions!
Pier 39 for me. Love it. Clam chowder and sour dough bread. Not driving.
I used to go there 60+ years ago as a child. It was still a working fishing wharf at that time and during crab season they cooked the crabs in huge pots out in front of the shops. Aliotos was where we ate and it was always Choppino with sourdough bread.
Crab Cakes at the pier are a must try too !!
What, you guys didn't go to the Castro?! A lot of good places to eat there as well. My favorite seafood restaurant is near there - Church and Market - the Woodhouse Fish Company. O
My three year old loves to watch your videos with me. Whenever he hears your guy's voices he comes running saying, "tabieats!" We love you guys!
Awww that’s so sweet!!!!!
There is a booth on The Grotto that sells a crab chowder. There's two actually. One is kind of a golden yellow, and it's okay, but the really good one is creamy white. Get that in a bread bowl. It's cheaper than going in and paying tourist prices and it's amazing.

Looks very delicious 😋 Thanks for sharing.

You went to the right place for the Calamari. That's my #1 go to spot. I ALWAYS go when im at Fisherman's Warf.

Great trip to fishman's wharf ! I,am glad that you both were able to experience the great seafood we have here !
Satoshi,
I loved your spin of happiness as you walked down the street at the beginning, such fun!!
👍🏻♥️🌈😊

I have been to Fisherman's Wharf a couple times but not gone to the stales that many times. I should do that next time. Love Boudin's sourdough bread
Calories is NOT in your vocabulary when you're on vacation!! Also, I can listen to Satoshi-san speak all day long. Thanks for the video.

Hi 👋
That brownie looked heavenly! Fudgy brownies are the best!

Oh, man! All that food looks so good!
I'm so happy you had a chance to tour around San Francisco! I was thinking you were only able to stay for the meet up and go back to LA.
"Damnit."
This is totally 100% genuine. Thanks you guys! You should come visit Colorado sometime, Great for beer!
Great
You guys hit the best stuff... well except the mission burrito. (Next time)
Anchor!
Ohhhh nooooo. Hitting only the tourist areas
Its currently 7am in the morning and I want that sundae!
I was born and raised in San Francisco, now living in Seattle. I miss that bread! 😭
U sld hv stayed
OMG! The seafood and the chowder I am drooling! The price wasn't bad considering it's a tourist spot but I think the sundaes were expensive. Did Satoshi eat the cherry? Lol
If you ever go back to San Fran try their sour dough with raisins.
Love, love, love Boudin. We have one in my town and I love to go for lunch because afterward the manager doesn't mind if I just sit, read and drink coffee for an hour or so. I wish I lived in San Francisco and could have met you! You 2 guys are awesome! Take care.

Oh man! Now I want to go to San Francisco! I want to try taking they Amtrak like you guys did. Everything looked wonderful.
Oh I love San Francisco! And the food is always so yummy
Hahaha watching this after watching their Japan videos makes me realize how expensive our tourist areas can be lol!
I feel so homesick now!
We Love you guys!!! Best of San Francisco in 2018!!!!
Hope you went to the Japanese tea garden! One of my favorite place ever , been going there cence I was a kid.
Nothing like a soup bread bowl and lobster, yummy 😊😊 oh my that dessert 👀 nice
Great video guys. San Fransisco is very high on my travel wishlist. And having seen that great food... I need to go there even sooner. That ice-cream with that fudge brownie.... I need it haha. Have a great weekend!

betty boop never noticed any similarities with Sydney Australia! 😄
Oh dang! I'm a sucker for some good clam chowder! That looked amazing!
These guys got me on the floor crying laughing in tears
What am I doing watching this before work? God I want to go to SF.
Seafood and sundaes sound like the perfect meal to me! Dessert is always calorie free during vacations!
Yoshiko Yeto , and the calories won't count if you eat standing up.
I think they should serve smaller portions at a lower price may be around $5 in tourists city like San Francisco so that tourists are able to try out multiple dishes. I am not talking about only desert but all dishes. That way tourists would have fun and business wpuld spread out across multiple joints. 😀😀😀
You should have eaten the ice cream part then gotten a "to go box" for the rest of the chocolate and brownie part of that dessert.
haha omg, you guys are about a half-hour from me (: or u were in this video anyway lol! hope u had fun in SF! the food u two had looks delicious
It’s not a food place, but the Museé Mechanique in that area is fascinating.
I love watching your videos!
All those delicious food items YUM.. making me hungry!!!
It's 8:30 in the morning here, and I want that Land's End. 😍
so wholesome i love it
The best clam chowder are the one outside not the restaurant.. I've have tried every clam chowder in the restaurant and nothing compared to the one outside.
Everything has no calories when you're vacationing...or if it's free! ;-)
Would it be possible to recreate that dipping sauce you had with the shrimp?
stationed in Saudi in the Army on base i had sourdough and breakfast gravy every day so yummy
Good morning! think I need some fudge today!!!
All of those things look sooo yummy, omg. I wanna go too.
Aww man this made me miss home! I used to live right by there. Totally miss the food.
Perfect timing. I’m going to be there for lunar new year this year!
Where else did you go in SF during your visit? did you go west to the outerlands of the city?
Another video coming next week!
Given it's at San Francisco most tourist trap area, those prices are quite reasonable.
I hope you went to Tadich Grill in the Financial District. It is SO good and one of the oldest restaurants in the West.
Rookie mistake...eating all the yummy bread before the meal ;) haha, don't worry everyone does this!
SF is the most expensive city in america. food looks delicious BTW i love lobster and clam chowder 😋
I spent a week in San Francisco, and somehow never actually went into Fisherman's Wharf (I walked around the outside / along the water?) ... I already wanted to go back, but now I HAVE to! Haha...
It's usually chilly in San Francisco. Even on a nice day, bring a jacket always, just in case.
Usually hot chocolate from ghiradelli is good for cold days.
"Damnit." Me too, Shinichi. me, too 😅 by the way you dressed really well! Not so much for weatherbut great for style. In the beginning fo the video you looked like a model strutting down the catwalk advertising fashionable sportswear xD
That ice cream sundae looks so delicious T.T
Dang, you guys are in my neck of the woods. I've been to all these places! The Nob Hill Chill is my favorite chocolate shake from Ghiradelli. ;)
Never tried clam chowder!!!!!! ? Looks so good !!!!!
What did you say everytime before you eat?
Great video! Next time you get the chance, go to Cha Cha Cha on Haight Street - best Caribbean food!
I love you two so much
Welcome to the Bay Area! Love your show! Would love to meet you too if your still in the bay area on the weekends!
Unfortunately this was taken in November. We will be back!
Awww, well hope you return soon! The Bay Area has some really nice things to offer! So glad that you two enjoy SF!
Thanks now i want a hot fudge sundae! LOL

How long will you guys be in town?
We were there in November last year. Wanna go back already!!!!
