The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

Amazon commercial brought me here.
me too !
And me
Me too! 😊 Great song.
Me too lol
Mee tooo! 😂😂😂
Even better than the studio version. A very charming and gifted young Teresa Brewer. Long ago and far away, but these days in 2024 in Germany runs a TV commercial with this song in background
She has such a unique voice.
What a clever staging for this song depicting the “modern” rock and rollers vs. the turn of the century images. Interesting how late 1950s would consider about 50 years ago from then as being “old fashioned” . Teresa was about twenty-five years old at the time of this hit record yet her hair and attire here make her appear much older. This is really a great clip…Thank you “Ed Sullivan Show”!
@captainblacktooth371 perhaps…but I don’t see that as a bd thing….do you?
I'm a old fashioned girl ❤🤩💓💗💞💕💝💘💖
Sergio Franchi, Harry Secombe and now Teresa Brewer! This is a great week on the Sullivan show! Thank you so much for this lovely performance by Teresa singing one of her biggest records on the Sullivan show. I had wanted to see this for quite some time. "A Sweet Old Fashioned Girl" charted at number 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 for Teresa and all the way to number 3 on the UK Singles chart. The song was written by Bob Merrill. It successfully combined the feel of an earlier '50's pop song with the new rock and roll beat, as did Kay Starr's "Rock and Roll Waltz" from the same year, to become a big song success. I love how they used two sets for the song, an old-fashioned family setting and a rock and rolling malt shop to represent the two different themes of the music. Also, what an exuberant and fun performance by Teresa. Great video quality too. Thank you again for this fantastic video of Teresa!
Loved her.. Her music was a staple in our house
Beautiful, the music of that time was outstanding. The voice and lyrics just makes you want to revisit that time.
Thanks for this video of the sweet old fashioned Teresa Brewer as innocent as the day is long to paraphrase Casablanca….😂!
Great video!
Have a great day!
Underrated singer.
I Love Watching The Ed Sullivan Show ❤
I watch the repeats to this day.
@@lindacruz7378 me too⭐
It's so wonderful ⭐
Especially I Love The Beatles On The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964💝🌟✨⭐
Long awaited. This is the way to boogie.
There's more available yet.
She has such a unique voice.
Wonderful video, fantastic dancing.
Happy Thursday... thank you for sharing! 💖
The gown is beautiful. And Miss Teresa knows how to work it.
I love her voice
Wonderful, wonderful! I can't help but enjoy an enthusiastic performance from Teresa with one of her biggest hits!
Love it 🎉
Thanks so much for this wonderful post. All I can say is what a treat this Teresa treasure is! And I'm hoping there'll soon be more Brewer postings, too. It would be especially nice to see videos of her singing things like "I Think the World of You," "Bo Weevil," "When I Leave the World Behind," and Peace of Mind," among others, all of which Ms. Brewer performed on the Sullivan show in the Fifties. Classic entertainment, I'm sure!
Thank you again!
That was cute. I remember hearing her Let Me Go Lover somewhere before. My mom, probably. 😅
That's a really good one too! You can see a video of Teresa singing "Let Me Go Lover" on this channel as well.
Beautiful... like Debbie Reynolds.
My daddy's favorite in the early 60s
Merci beaucoup ❤
sweet !
Love this show ..Amazing ❤️ singer Teresa brewer😊
A time when you could understand the words of a song.
and frequently wished you hadn't
maybe you are right a bit, but modern songs texts are way more cringe@@jong0000
@@jong0000 What?
I would imagine that Scooby-Doo, the beloved cartoon character got his name from the scat singing of this song. I know most sources will say that it came from Frank Sinatra's Strangers In The Night, but I truly believe it's from this.
The two backgrounds technique is clever.
Know her from other songs like Music, music, music and Ricochet for example. They are in my jukebox for many years now.
Love it ❤ awesome song
It’s so cool to look back at what was “edgy” back then…. Much better than the trends in 2024.
Brava e carinissima
always kind of liked her, but how do you sing lyrics like that with a straight face?
Ah yes the lyrics, 'scoobilly doobilly dum' sounds like my dad after a 10 day bender.
French tv also !
May 2014..why am I here ?
This is what we're missing from today's girls.
Was this in Fallout?
Roberta Shore's version is better than original.
Omg i just found the worst song ever!!!
It is said that Elvis also disliked the number. You either dig the satire, or you don't.
It’s dreadful but ANNOYINGLY addictive lol ❤
i can think of a lot more dreadful songs than this...this was crossover time...traditional pop to rock. many songs like this....like Rock and Roll Waltz Kay Starr...
