    Rudolph showed enough to get more than the next game. As you said, Kenny has had 25 starts. He hasn't come close to the game Rudolph just had. The team needs to see what they have in Rudolph before they let him walk out the door. Kenny is on a rookie contract. It's not like it's crippling if he doesn't start.

    One must seriously wonder how good Mason would be right now if he was properly groomed as QB1 / not been forced to continuously ride the pine for the last 2+ years.

      I do! Said he should have been the starter last season! And he's improved considerably. Just another collossal Tomlin player evaluation mistake -ugh. Would have won 10+ games last year and this, and probably 2 playoff wins IMO. Think of what the defense would look like right now without getting decimated from being on the field all game every week.

      Would be a top QB by now. All good. He has his chance now. When I first saw his first Steelers uniform photo I knew then he would turn into the successor.

    Masons arm talent & accuracy was always there that was never a concern, that’s why they graded him as a 1st rd pick talent. I think that he was thrown into the fire quick when Ben got hurt & he played scared by throwing a lot of check downs. Now he looks way more comfortable, he can put points on the board quick too.

    Mason was on point the whole game. I think the sack he took was the least bad thing he could've done in that situation. he saved us from taking a safety because Warren's foot slipped. he uses all of his receivers, he's doesn't get his receivers murdered by hesitating like Kenny. It's possible Seattle fairs better now that there's a week of fresh tape on Mason, but I've already seen everything I need to see to make him a QB1, I hope the Steelers are smart enough to roll with Mason from here on because I can't watch another snap of kenny with happy feet, tunnel vision, and sacking himself, or Mitch with bad choices and 0 accuracy. CONGA LINE STEELERS O is OVER BABY. (1, 2, 3 and kick)

    A "LOT" of fans and analysts alike seem to "NOT" realize that Mason has "ONLY" 11 NFL starts! Mitch & Kenny both have more NFL starts than Mason and have no signs of improvement. Mason has "NEVER" had a QB training camp dedicated to him, according to former Steeler Ramone Foster, when they played the Seahawks at home while Ben was out and almost won that game. Mason had NO development help and has been behind the 8ball since his debut.. He used his personal & professional time to elevate his skill "by himself " to get to this point. I'm rooting for Mason!!!!

    Been saying Mason is the best QB on the roster since Ben left. Glad he got a chance to prove me right. Hope Tomlin does the smart thing and actually does let him start Sunday. You can always make Kenny the back up and put him in if Mason looks bad. HERE WE GO!!!!!!

    • @AndyWitmyer
      @AndyWitmyer 7 місяців тому +8

      Agreed, 100%. The thing that annoys me, tho, is knowing that, despite giving Kenny and Mitch several bad games worth of leeway, Tomlin and Co will likely pull / bench Mason the very first time he has a less than stellar performance. No QB, no matter how great or even HOF they are, is immune from having a bad game, but because of the circumstances that Mason finds himself in (such as being on the same team that also has a first round QB previously anointed as QB1), Mason's margin of error will likely be extremely slim, and the expectation that he plays well above what is expected of him - even against tough opponents that Kenny and Trubisky would struggle against - will be intense if he has any hope of maintaining his status as QB1 - and doubly so, if he wants to have any chance at supplanting Kenny in that role in a more permanent sort of way (ie being signed by the Steelers in the offseason and letting him compete for / start ahead of Kenny next season).
      Sadly, despite acquiring Mason in 2018, I still don’t think the Steelers even truly know what they have in him yet, in terms of his actual ceiling. Tomlin clearly sucks at evaluating the talent that the team has. This is especially the case in the QB locker room. That he was lucky enough to have a HOF QB through 90% of his career probably explains why this is the case, since he's has little to no prior experience in seriously evaluating or developing anyone other than Ben - but, it stands to reason that with proper mentoring and investment in his development, Mason could still very easily be a serviceable, perhaps even decently good QB1 for this team. I mean, that he still looks better than Kenny and Mitch despite being relegated to the bench for the last two years honestly says a lot. Fortunately, it's probably not too late to develop Mason / find his ceiling, as he's literally only 2.5 years older than Kenny, while at the same time, having far less wear and tear. The question is: will the Steelers bother? Here's to hoping Mason continues to prove why they should.

    Great breakdown Daniel. Mason did ball out! 100% that was illegal contact not called on Muth on Mason's scramble for the first down. Also, Hilton got away with illegal contact on the miss to Diontae. I don't know -did you think the throw was a bit off anyway? Looked a bit outside, but like you said, timing made it look different because of the Hilton grab. Under no circumstances should anyone but Mason play QB going forward this season! Given that Mason has only had 11 starts, what are your thoughts about how much better he can get? His arm alone should earn him a chance given he's cleaned up a lot of fundamental issues and standing tall in the pocket, is what I'm thinking. If he continues to play anywhere near this against SEA and Balt, he should go into camp as the starter unless they pick up a proven guy (not a washed up stiff like Mitch). I've seen enough of Kenny thank you.

      Not sure who us all you are referring to .....I'm thinking that when Ben retired that Rudolph did get a fair shake the management and coach not only thought that we should bring in MT and Draft KP but they didn't give Mason...the chance to compete they named MT the starter and KP the backup out the gate .....then proceed to stick to that mediocre quarterbacking at best for almost 2 full seasons ......so when you say all of us ....I hope you are in that building because I for one thought Rudolph deserved a true shot ......if you look at quarterback play the last full season and 14 games until this last game .....you will notice that the standard is pretty shaky at best😅

    • @mc1993
      @mc1993 7 місяців тому +1

      @@jesseleblanc1199 To be fair, IMO, you have to look at the dink-n-dunk, passing only as an extension of the run style they were using, in direct response to Rooney saying 'we're passing too much and we need to get back to running the ball.' We've seen The Great Reset several times starting with Maddox, and only Ben was able to overcome it. Maddox, Batch, Jones, Mason, Dobbs, and KP/MT all suffer when forced into a game manager role. KP had this same offense vs Cincy but is clearly not as consistent or accurate and his deep ball is a flip of a coin.

    • @jesseleblanc1199

      Are up excuses all you want KP had yards against the Bengals and he also had the opportunity to do what Rudolph did against the Bengals.....the guy has what 23 stars and 13 Touchdown passes and 13 Interceptions.....the last 2 tears this team is on a historic low on offense.....that may only be an average game for Mason....and it turns out to be more than KP ever did on his best day ......in the last game I saw a guy stand in the pocket read the defense go through his progressions and deliver a ball in a place that the receiver could run away from the defense......let's not soon forget Mason never was a consideration for the starting job or even to compete for the job ....MT was brought in to start and KP was Named the backup from the beginning.....I keep Hearing about how Tomlin has loyalty to his players where was that loyalty to Rudolph....let's go back to Rudolph's first chance was when Ben went down .....early on Mason wS was knocked unconscious in a game against the Ravens....then not long after that Miles Garrett tried to kill him with his own helmet.....that is not the ideal beginning......But anyone can see he is standing tall in the pocket and delivering the mail......what has been the hold up for KP and running into sacks ....one guy had GP1 gameanddid what theydid one guyy hadGP 20 plus games and has yet to have this kind of game ......ask the team who they want in the huddle

      If he balls out the rest of the season (and Tomlin doesn’t go back to Pickett) He’ll be an UFA and I believe he’ll sign elsewhere. If I was him I wouldn’t trust this organization as far as I could throw them. Signing Trubisky to multimillions was a major knife in his back. If Haskins (RIP) hadn’t got killed Rudolph is selling insurance. He owes Pittsburgh and Tomlin nothing. Sad because he is the best QB on the roster and clearly has the team with him.

      Lol I'm not biased. I'm straight forward. If the player plays well I'll point that out. I'd recommend watching my first couple videos where I was making excuses for play of others. As the season progressed the qb didn't. At the end of the day I speak the truth and sometimes the truth hurts... even to me as a die hard fan.
