I was a soldier in Germany when the war in Yugoslavia. Meet an Albanian guy who was hanging out with an English guy. I think they were homeless in Germany so I took them to the military base and let them take a shower. I did wash their clothes while they took a bath. They left very happy the next day. Saw the Albanian guy one more time about two weeks later.....i wonder where are they now.
Very interesting place! Albania seems to have made rapid progress since it was the most closed nation in Europe a few decades ago. See the Wikipedia article "Hobble (device)" for an explanation of the horse wearing a chain (although it's usually made of soft rope). The purpose it to let the horse graze freely without wandering too far by limiting the length of its steps. Hobbles were historically essential in treeless regions where there was literally nothing to which horses could be hitched.
What progress 🤣 Albania has not changed well the actual change is the open borders but still living standarts are actually worse or similar to the communist era people dont have money or jobs thats why they left to european countries for a better life
@@Freedomrocksusa Your dim view of the current Albanian situation is certainly at odds with the majority of what I find on the internet, and on UA-cam in particular.

@@MikeV8652the standard of living in Albania has increased significantly for most people in Albania compared to the communist era. However, he is right that the living situation in Albania still is not very good. The economy, although growing, has a long way to go. The government + developers still prefer to cut corners to save money instead of making projects as great as they can be. Wages are low for the working class but expenses are high. Gas in particular is very expensive, and some people are actively trying to use their car as little as possible to save money. So, still not great but definitely a little better than the communist era for most people
Good video, thank to both of you. Gerardo was good taking you to the Gypsy area. Yes people live very different around the world. I am from NYC, but i really like Europe.
I live in england for 17 years when you get know the English people they are really cool , many of us think they are racist but as said when you get to know them they have good heart.
I travelled to Albania 🇦🇱 alone, flying from Birmingham to Tirana. I rented a car and drove from Tirana to Shkodër, and from Shkodër to Durrës.. The people that I could have a basic conversation with were friendly, I learned basic Albanian before arriving, which helped. I ran through these areas and although it looked rough, I had no problems. Would recommend Albania based on my own experience, just be respectful and street smart ❤
