    I thought I knew football until I started watching your channel. Instead, we who watch see the game in a blur, while those like yourself and professional, college and HS coaches know exactly what is happening and why... Keep up this great content!

    I learn so much watching these videos. Excellent film study, James. I actually use what I learn here when playing the NCAA video game lol. It's made me a better player. It has been an awesome 2 weeks to be a Gators fan. Next year is going to be so good. Go Gators! Thanks for the videos, James.

    The commentary at 33:00 is spot on when it comes to coaching. The correct play was identified and taken, it was a mechanical misplay which is okay, we're fine with those. The bigger picture to focus on is being identify the correct play and taking it, which lagway did.

    Great as always. Spurrier needs to sit Billy down and give him a clinic on how to score right before and after halftime. Its these pockets of his decision making that still makes me wonder if he's the guy. Trask made Mullen look like a genius and Lagway will do the same here.

      Say what you will about Mullen, but Mullen could scheme an offense that created mismatches and put pressure on the opposing defense. Billy does that on occasion, but mostly he runs a Muschamp-like offense where if everything goes perfect, then the play will work, but the issue is that there are few occasions where everything goes perfect.
      I am hoping he hires an OC and lets them have some freedom, as the offense in its current state is not a championship level offense. I am hoping he gets someone like Sarkesian who can draw up plays that put pressure on opposing defenses and punishes them for stacking the box against the run.

      An offensive coordinator is definitely needed I don't know what's going through his mind when he's calling these plays especially with the time on the clock if they load the box and then you throw a 40-yard pass and it gets picked off it's like a punt big deal man he needs to get some guts and some nuts😂 let the old ball coach call the plays from the box 😮

    During the game I gave Billy the benefit of the doubt on the timeout at Q2 2:20 thinking he could tell the team was "doing it wrong". But I can see where the move should be to say screw it, and exchange the penalty yardage for the timeout.

    We got to see Kyle Trask for a season, reading defenses and making the accurate throws. We got to see Anthony Richardson make great arm throws and exciting runs for about a season. I'm looking for the combination in Lagway for more than a season. It will be so interesting to see him develop even more.

    • @WarriorVII
      @WarriorVII 2 місяці тому

      It's not even the stars. Billy and his team are great evaluators, though. We've identified a lot of good talent even if they're 3* like Baugh. Lagway is obviously the future, but we're not filled to the cupboard with 5* - we just have a lot of guys stepping up across the board, regardless of whatever their HS ranking was. That's coaching, development, and culture.

  • @metalroofquoter633
    @metalroofquoter633 Місяць тому

    @james I've heard you and Allen talk ad nauseum about "success rate" the last 3 years. Billy's inherent passing offense weakness in that area, and the need for a pass minded OC to pair with Billy's good Run Offensive scheme. I agree.... and the "statistics bare that out"... With that in mind, and the fact that Florida has statistically gotten worse in all success rate aspects of the game, ignoring the tougher schedule, is it possible to perhaps compare the first half of the seasons success rate to the back half's? they average out as a statistical step back, but has there been a step forward if we account only for the last 5 or 6 games? I know thats nit picking, but part of the reason our success rate was low, was because Mertz wasnt vertically aggressive nor apt enough to really open up opposing defenses, not to mention the mobility of a Lagway. I feel like, Mertz was the better quarterback, but Lagway was better for the offense,. Not sure if the numbers bare that out. I just sense some similarities in Tebows (long ball) and running ability really compounding the overall success rate of intermediate routes, and less people in the box. Sure this season looks rough, but I'd say theres a strong case to be made that the last 4 or 6 games are more indicative of next season than the season as a whole.

  • @ColinWhitworth
    @ColinWhitworth 2 місяці тому

    I dig that this is Lagway at three quarters of his ability (limited mobility), and he's only a freshman.

    Hey, new to the channel. This is an excellent breakdown of Saturdays game. I'm happy we won, but watching Billy make these game changing decisions including dumb penalties and ignorant play calls at crucial times, still have me on the fence about him being the head coach. These are usually instilled in a coach and don't really go away unfortunately. Great Breakdown anyway.. Oh and and F FSWho.

    I realize we have a true freshman at quarterback but I don't like the fact that we take our foot off the gas eventually he's got to put a little bit of trust in him when they load the box up like that you're pretty much giving up eight six yards and we need to take advantage of that and then if we're trying to run the clock out why are we snapping early a lot of questions behind the decision making

    What is the receiver room going to look like for the Gators next year? I've heard Badger is leaving and Dike is a Senior. Are the Gators going to need to replenish the receiver room with transfer portal guys? I know Wilson has been hurt, maybe he emerges as an option for Lagway next year?
