      Yep, definitely. It's been a big problem lately, fake accounts posing as me and offering gifts which will then turn into a scam. I block them and delete the comments, then they create another account. It's easy to tell that they aren't coming from my account by clicking on their channel icon. It will go to their main channel page where you can see they have no videos or subscribers.

    I like how you tend to stray away from the tourist areas. I’ve discovered in my lifetime that you can find great adventures many times just by taking the roads/paths less traveled. Exploring the backroads often offer much more novelty and charm than the tourists routes.

    Japan is such a vibe. Love these small towns and the scenes in them. Definitely on my bucket list to get there and see some of these more rural scenes. One can’t help being from North America watching videos like this and just seeing these homes and cities and wondering what life is like and who these people are that live there. That’s one of my favorite things about travel just seeing some open window or house and wondering about the people there and the lives they live

    Gabriel, when you return towards Tokyo go and visit Hakone, there is a active vulcanic valley called Owakudani, there you can eat the black eggs cooked in sulfurous water, there is a cable car that takes up there. Worth a visit. Also there are many Onsen there. I went in one of them highly recommended. I really enjoyed visiting that area a few years ago.

    Your videos always inspire me to want to be conversational in return. I have a lot to say about a LOT of stuff, as you might have noticed, LoL!
    1) You commented on the number of waterfalls, you saw in your travels, in this video, Gabriel.
    Waterfalls, to the Japanese, are cleansing, purifying. You will also see pots and containers of water (with what look like ladles in them) for washing one's hands. I love this touch. Feel free to use them and be seen cleaning yourself. The Japanese are cleanly. They like seeing the Gaijin or Foreigners be the same way!
    2) Ryokan (Promounced Ree-Oh-Kahn) are Inns which usually are full-service. They are built in very scenic spots so that their guests can marvel at and enjoy the nature outside, too.
    3) Foxes (called Kitsune) are good luck in Japan. You will likely see statues of them wearing red bandanas around their necks, for good luck, too. They are NOT always so nattily attired, but when they are, they look sharp. It's just like ZZ Top says: "Everyone's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man" (assuming all Foxy-Loxies are men, that is).

    That fish pond is actually a fishing pond (called "tsuribori") - people sit around the perimeter and throw their lines in to those pools and get their catch. Never done it myself and I don't see the appeal, but they seem to be popular. Many, many of them in Japan.

    Hi Gabriel, oh yes Gabriel, going old school and just walking around seeking adventure wherever you can find it. I think you're prepared for fall, it's better to sweat than to be cold, it's early November and it isn't going to get any warmer. Nothing like the leaves changing color nature's way of telling us of the changing cycle along the crisp air. The sauna must be an awesome experience there.

    Nippon is pronounced Nippon. Nihon is pronounced Nihon. Both mean Japan. Nippon is older than Nihon. But both are correct. Even the Japanese government has not decided which is correct. Because both are already used in many place names, company names, etc... it's too late to change them. People usually use Nihon more often, but Nippon is often used in formal occasions.

    Hi Gabriel. Just thinking about your accommodation costs for full time international travel. In Japan you're paying $60 per night. What do you try and average out at per night on your travels? Be good to get an average from a seasoned traveller for when we are budgeting for extended travel. Thank you, great videos from Japan 😀

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  Рік тому +3

      I'd say $100 a day is a good general average. Depends of course on where you are and what you're doing. You can certainly spend less or more.

    • @ianwhittaker3041
      @ianwhittaker3041 Рік тому

      @@GabrielTravelerVideos Hi. Is that $100 a day all in, i.e. local travel, accommodation, meals, activities etc.?

    • @GabrielTravelerVideos
      @GabrielTravelerVideos  Рік тому

      @@ianwhittaker3041 Yes, potentially, but it depends on a lot of factors. That won't be enough in a lot of places where accommodation could be $70 or more. A big factor is which country you're in. That won't be enough in Switzerland if you stay in hotels and rent a car. But it might be enough if you stay in hostels and take a train every few days. If you're in India or Thailand it will be more than enough.
