2024 IEPRS Conf. - Mike Roberts: The past, present & future of skeletal muscle hypertrophy research

Dr. Mike Roberts with Auburn University captivated the audience at the University of Central Florida’s Institute of Exercise Physiology and Rehabilitation Science's 4th Annual Conference with his presentation on the history of skeletal muscle growth and hypertrophy training. Roberts took attendees on a journey through time, beginning with the earliest scientific research on muscle growth in the 19th century. He highlighted key breakthroughs and pioneers in the field. The presentation culminated in a review of novel research areas, such as the role of genetics. Attendees left with a new appreciation for the scientific roots of hypertrophy training as well as an eagerness to put this knowledge into practice.
