কাহিনী সংক্ষেপে...
এই কাহিনী আবর্তিত হয়েছে কাশী অর্থাৎ বেনারস শহরকে ঘিরে। সেখানকার বনেদি ঘোষালবাড়ির বহুমূল্যবান গনেশমূর্তিকে হাতাতে চায় ক্ষমতাশীল ব্যক্তি মগনলাল। যে মুর্তিকে লুকিয়ে রেখেছিল বাড়ির কণিষ্ঠতম সদস্য রুকু আর গৃহকর্তা, তার দাদু। অন্যদিকে গঙ্গার ঘাটে আবির্ভাব এক রহস্যময় মছলিবাবার। অজানা আততায়ী হত্যা করে মুর্তি গড়ার কারীগর শশীবাবুকে, যিনি কাকতালীয়ভাবে উদ্ধার করেন গণেশমূর্তিটি সিংহের মুখের ভেতর থেকে। দুর্গাপ্রতিমা বিসর্জনের দিন ফেলুদা স্থানীয় পুলিশের সহায়তায় জাল গুটিয়ে আনেন।
