Wiim is really good about updating their products. Give it a little time, and I know that they'll update it soon(especially with you bringing it to everyone's attention).
Latest news I’ve seen is that the current ultras out now will NOT get airplay certified and they also will NOT get them via firmware on-the-air. I am holding out for future versions that would have them baked in.

Presets is where you can save different sources (playlists, favourite internet radio stations etc.) to access them in one click/one button. Presets no. 1 - 4 are also directly accessible with the 1 - 4 buttons on the remote :)

@@juicythedj750 oh. I managed to return my WiiM pro plus as soon as I learned about WiiM ultra. And have to live w/o any streamer for 3m until they were delaying the delivery. It’s a bit of a struggle but wish your will be sooner! Good idea, I’ll make a video on my setup later.
@@trekkis true. When you are streaming. But AirPlay gives you very convenient interface to control playback/volume/selecting next song etc. Built in app very useful.
@@alexpotyomkin You can do all that directly from your iPhone or iPad via Apple Music and connected via BT. Too bad Apple iOS doesn't support the LDAC codec because it is noticeably superior to other BT codecs when its set to 990/900kbps High Quality.
@@bbfoto7248 good to know. The only, seems like ultra can’t support multiple Bluetooth connections. I can’t connect my wife’s phone until Forget device on my phone. Too much hustle. I’m not going to stream any quality demanding material neither BT nor Airplay. But for smth fast-it’s very convenient.
@@oiygfdxssfgg yes, you can do it. But you have to be in the streaming app. You can’t control from the Home Screen let’s say. Or from iOS media streaming UI. Which sometime much more convenient. As you can choose what source volume you are controlling even when you are out of app. Or with locked screen.

You mentioned about being unable to control the volume through the phone, but are you still able to stream to the ultra using airplay? I’m contemplating on getting this as long as I can stream from my iPhone / iPad.
@@MrWilander88 you can stream on it only via Bluetooth or using built in streaming services like Tidal, not Airplay for now. And controlling the volume only while these apps are on the screen. So you can’t do it like when you are watching appletv and controlling volume over the phone’s remote app.
@@goodforwatch yeah. So if you are using its internal DAC, the display of volume available only on this small screen from far. It hasn’t sending anything back to tv as it collects only audio data. And you can’t see the real volume gain anywhere except it’s built in display. Re visibility. My eyes are still good and I can see the numbers. But I may imagine someone’s older, or w/o glasses, or just sitting much further might have problems with reading exact volume numbers.

Airplay? What's that? Apparently there has to be some special chip on the board before you can get a licence for it. But you have to do all that before you can sell a single unit with the chip on it. Apple, greed, and control freak mentality firmly spring to mind. Use bluetooth if it is that important. It seems though that Apple doesn't support the best algorithms only SBC. I wonder why that is. Well it doesn't bother me. We haven't owned a single Apple product since I bought an Apple 3GS iphone, after which I learned that Android was much more versatile, and fun.
@@shaunhw you are right when talking about phones. And I’d also prefer android if I wouldn’t have other devices. But when you have laptop, headphones, tablets, appletv. That’s all super cool in the ecosystem. Maybe that the the price for being able to build what they’ve built. It’s good to have choice, right?
@@alexpotyomkin Yes, there's a lot of choice in the Android world and has been since the start. The highly controlled world of Apple was never for me, but I gave it a try at the dawn of the iPhone. It was OK, but the requirement to use iTunes to organise all your music files was a complete pain, when you could just copy music files to the Android phone's memory and be done with it in a few minutes. I used a PC running iTunes and the experience was completely dreadful.

I connedt Ultra to my Burchart HUB wich run my active burchart speaker - connect with toslink - it can,t turn my hub - is there a way it can switch on my hub? if i just want to listen to music not tv?

As far as I get you are trying to use WiiM as a streamer so it can send the signal to hub via toslink and the problem that WiiM can’t wake up your hub? But when both are turned on signal is passing and everything good? If so, I’d check if hub can be waken up by sensing toslink signal. Not all of them can do. Check also resolution you are sending to the hub.
If you decided to return it, why peel off protective film? Think of the next person. Not impressed with presentation. Would not make a decision to buy or not based on anything here.

Air play 2 shouldnt be used in any circumstances due to very low audio quality. This is connection a lot worse than bt.

I control the volume with my i phone 13, the side buttons on the phone controls the volume on the WiiM ultra

Tell me does it have an on button or does it turn on itself when the voltage is applied?
@@tipok1929 it’s always on in sleep mode. But yes, it senses the input signal and auto switch to it. No need in any additional push buttons.
