    _English_ _translation_ _of_ _the_ _song:_
    Title: *Leaving* *it* *up*
Where did everything started to change
When was I not enough anymore
Why didn’t you tell me from the start,
I’m the one you needed but not the one you love

    Where did my love lack
I gave everything just to make you smile
Why didn’t I see you don’t want (us) anymore
I’m the one you’re with, but you’re looking for her

And if you’re happy with her company
    I won’t insist no more
All I wish for her is to
    Never make you cry
And to take care of you

    Where did the faithfulness stopped
Every time you say you loved me
Why didn’t you admit that there’s somebody else
I’m the one you embraced, but you’re thinking of her

And if you’re happy with her company
    I won’t insist no more
All I wish for her is to
Never make you cry, and to take care of you

    Why didn’t I thought that there’s a finale
I was the first, but she is the last.

And it can really be seen in your eyes
Why she’s the one you chose
It’s hard to fight what’s fated
    Leaving it up
    Leaving it up
I’m leaving it all up to her

It's kinda funny but somehow we're thankful for Moira's gift to bring the stories of the song come to life. That even though some of us haven't gone through that kind of story, we all felt like we just did. :)

I agree with you. But the translator used "HER" because a female is singing the song.. if it was a male singing it, then the translator would've chose "HE".. We can't really use "THEM/THEY" (sila) because that's plural in English. Then the song would've sounded like the individual has more than one side chick 🤣.. it's really on a person's perspective. Ya know what I mean 💜

@Caryl Amodia You're correct. Singular They traces back years and years ago. Just that people are, maybe, unfamiliar with it. But the translator of the song made an assumption that the person Moira was referring to was a SHE/HER. If it was a male singing the song, I bet you that the translator will say HE/HIM... "pagiging totoo" was translated to faithfulness? okay it can be but "totoo" can be translated as "truth" and there are similar words such as "real" and "truthfulness". I'm just saying, translating words from one language to another can change their meaning and it really matters to convey the exact one. Well, still, translators, you did good..

Actually, Moira is in relationship. And he's happy with her husband. They/we don't know why she made this song? But I think, she made it for all who in a bad relationship. You know the song of her song "Tadhana"? That time her husband proposed to her while taking a video in her music video of "Tadhana". And Moira didn't even know that her boyfriend(that her husband now) will propose to her that time🥰😍
I just want to tell her that, SANA ALL!!!

    Paubaya (English translation)
    Artist: Moira dela Torre
    Song: Paubaya 3 translations
    English
    A A
    Leaving it up
Where did everything started to change
When was I not enough anymore
Why didn’t you tell me from the start,
I’m the one you needed but not the one you love
    Where did my love lack
I gave everything just to make you smile
Why didn’t I see you don’t want (us) anymore
I’m the one you’re with, but you’re looking for her
And if you’re happy with her company
    I won’t insist no more
All I wish for her is to
    Never make you cry
And to take care of you
    Where did the faithfulness stopped
Every time you say you loved me
Why didn’t you admit that there’s somebody else
I’m the one you embraced, but you’re thinking of her
And if you’re happy with her company
    I won’t insist no more
All I wish for her is to
Never make you cry, and to take care of you
    Why didn’t I thought that there’s a finale
I was the first, but she is the last.
And it can really be seen in your eyes
Why she’s the one you chose
It’s hard to fight what’s fated
    Leaving it up
    Leaving it up
I’m leaving it all up to her

The tricky part with translations is that you can't be too literal and should take everything in context to better express the ideas. I felt the lyrics you found were not sad enough.
This is how I would've translated it:
At what point did everything start to change?
When did you realize I was no longer enough?
Why didn't you tell me right from the start,
that even though I'm the one you needed,
I'm not the one you loved.
What did my love even lack,
when I gave everything just to make you smile?
How could I not have seen that you no longer wanted this?
I was the one you were with,
but you kept looking for her.
So if you're happy with her,
    I'll stop insisting on us.
    I only wish that
    she'd never make you cry
and that she'd take care of you.
When did it start becoming a lie,
every time you told me you loved me?
Why didn't you admit there was someone else?
You're holding me in your arms
with thoughts of her on your mind.
So if you're happy with her,
    I'll stop insisting on us.
    I only wish that
    she'd never make you cry
and that she'd take care of you.
Why didn't I ever think we'd have to end?
    I was your first,
and yet she's to become your last.
I can see it in your eyes though,
    why you chose her.
It's hard to fight against destiny,
    so I'm leaving it up.
    I'm leaving it up.
I'm leaving it up ... to her.
Hope my translation is sad enough! But nothing beats the original lyrics :)

“I’m the one you needed, but not the one you love.”
I first saw this performed live on IG, and without a title yet. Her hubby was playing the guitar while Moira was laughing, as she sang the heartbreaking lyrics. Lol. I cried then. And I’m still crying now.
How do you deal with the fact that you help build a person, loved and cherished her, only to be left for someone else(when she was fixed up and whole) and you are left with nothing but shattered heart? I was needed when I was convenient. I know for a fact that she’s no longer on love with me(but I chose to not see, to overlook and to stay in my make-believe fantasy) but now, I finally learn to let her go. That was almost 4 years ago. I did the same with her. I gave her up to be with the one she truly loves. And I moved on gradually.
To her: be happy with your choice, and may you stand by him, as you can’t do with me. May you find the love, stability, and loyalty you’re looking for. And may you be proud that you’re with a man now. Cause I can never be ever right for you. I’ll always just be your secret Girlfriend that you kept introducing as your bestfriend. I finally understand now, it wasn’t that I lack, it’s because I am not a man and I won’t ever change that.
P.S. btw, your boyfriend finds me more beautiful than you, he even asked me if we could date on the side. I gave him the knee jerk. Di to paubaya! Paalam is more apt! 😜
