in the late 50s my uncle made a chris-craft kit. he would take us out on the niagara river between buffalo and the niagara falls and scare the butt crust off of us! id like to see a catamaran retrofit version of this vessel, with that 30 horse foghorn i keep talkin about. super job! thanks for sharing Johsua

@@MonaichFother I live in Great Britain too, well, part of it, it's actually part of a small Island called Ireland and is known as Northern Ireland sometimes referred to as Ulster.
They call me British, Irish, Northern Irish and sometimes an Ulsterman.
I can use a British or Irish passport and can have both at same time.

I definitely would love to get one of these but perhaps in a super stretched version? If it could accompany two people similar to a two person kayak then I would purchase a few of these for some sightseeing tours in the Indian River Lagoon.

Im building an 8' plywood flat bottom now but yours is by far the coolest DIY boat I've seen. Really great! I like how neat the inside is layed out. Where can I find the twisty thingy that locks your steering rope. Im gonna use a four stroke weed eater to power mine but was unsure of an easy way to steer it. I think I can convert your design to stick steer. Once again very cool!
Right on, go check out the bill of materials, linked-to on the website. Just FYI: A 4-stroke weed-eater engine might not be enough power to get your 8' boat to plane, in which case you might want to just stick with a $200 electric drive train setup.

I don't expect it to plane just to meander around the edge of lakes fishing. I already have the weedeater so I will only be out the cost of a prop. If my calculations are right, it should put out 486 ft lbs of torque but I don't figure a trolling prop will handle full throttle.
An 8' boat is going to have a very slow hull-speed, probably 5 mph. So unless you are going to give it enough power to plane, that hull-speed is going to be your limiting factor. Hence my recommendation to just go with an electric trolling motor setup.

But the weedeater is basicly free. I have no use for it since I bought the big weedeater thingy on wheels. The old weedeater hasn't been used in years. Once I get my wife hooked on the boat then I can talk her into a real motor. Its a game Lol. We've been playing it for 29 years :)

Yeah. A few larger customers have done just that.
How much did you end up spending on the boat?
How do you keep batteries from getting wet?? I imagine that the smallest waves can cause some water to enter the mini boat, and the batteries are just behind the seat. Same with the power connector on the back: is it waterproof enough so the water that gets spilled on the back doesn't enter the electrical junction??
Matias Dos Santos - It actually takes decent chop to get any water in the boat. Go check out the sea trial videos. But to answer your question: K don't keep the batteries from getting wet. They have been completely submerged in ocean water multiple times and it doesn't seem to make any difference. The boat could operate under water if it were able to sink that far (it's not).

What could be the maximum hp motor we can hook to this thing ? It could be badass a brushless with lithium pack but maybe the hull would not handle it ?

You could use a jig-saw. I also offer bare-hull kits, but they aren't cheap.

I was thinking of winter projects to work on, My 2nd jeep TJ body, 3 planes to build, 1/4 Tiger Tank or a mini boat. ( I have a two 6ft deep ponds in my yard).

ABS is fine (that's mostly what I use), but PLA would melt in outdoor use. I did some RC crawling stuff for about a month or two. It was fun, but expensive.
My Dad is 6'2" and 175 lbs.
He fit in it fine.
It wouldn't be a mini boat if it wasn't a tight fit.
