Yeah I'm wondering about that too. There's definitely a tie there, but I can't decide if the plot is going to make Alastor an antagonist or protagonist in the future. In one case, he may have been sent by lillith to help her daughter learn something. In the other, he may be trying to get a leg up on lillith in terms of power or something. I'm enjoying the anticipation
Between this and what I read in Prime's Respectless Sing-A-Long, I'm going to go back and rewatch. They said something about Zestial mentioning an Angel when they bump into each other (or was that in a Reddit discussing him and Rosie that it was mentioned?). Either way, I'll probably treat this like Disenchantment (I'm on my 18th watch since it dropped final season).
@LillianaAfton I think it makes a lot of sense, personally. Rather than him being sent by Lilith because they're connected some other way, as some people have theorized, he could've been sent by her out of requirement. Or else, more fascinating to me, he could've gone under the guise of helping Charlie because she's Lilith's daughter, but really is trying to use Charlie to somehow get leverage over Lilith. The deals he makes and doesn't make with her, to build trust, but to also build leverage

Everyone talking about Alastor n' all, but like cmon. Vox went fuckin HAM! I would say Vox's VA did a beyond perfect job making Vox sound like a angry corporate asshole that he is. "Every day, he's got a new format!" " You're looking at the future AND HE'S THE SHIT THAT COMES BEFORE THAT!"
They're great performances, both of them, but I think it's fair to point out how both of them bounced off and reacted to each other to really give us character development for both. Vox's takedown was great, but it was cheap and dropped before Alastor even had a chance to speak, but when he does push back Vox crumbles to sand. I think that level of detail was pulled off phenomenally by both performances.
I love this song in its entirety and Alastor is definitely much more composed and actually secure, but I am just soooo obsessed with Vox's lines, it's sooo fun and captures what he is perfectly! His VA did phenomenal job, the "turn the TV on" will never not be fun to listen to :D And how he switches from the slow and powerful singing at the begining, to the super fast paced talk host speaking and then back to singing!! I love love his performance
What I really like about Alastor is that he’s a monster that understands other monsters to an uncanny degree. He doesn’t just attack blindly he attacks exactly where he knows someone’s weak spot is. He lets his enemy announce his return because ultimately it looks worse for Vox that way.
I think Alastor hates Vox almost as much as Vox hates Alastor. Alastor really hates TVs and he DOES give Vox attention that he doesn't show to, say, Sir Pentious. Alastor is just better at getting under Vox's skin, and Vox seems to feel much more threatened by Alastor.

Tbf Vox did spout out some pretty good insults until Alastor joined in, at which he lost his temper and confidence. “I’m visual, he’s barely audible”, “now his medium is getting bloody rare” and Vox’s “artist rendering” of Alastor killed me 😂 (The render called Alastor a smelly furry with a ‘triangle *ss’ and ‘gross hoof feet’. Alstor either worked or was friends with Lilith. So when Lilith disappeared when Charlie needed her, the most Alistor came out of nowhere to help er out.
I love the theorys that come from this song, I personally have a theory/headcannon that alistors last name is hazbin just because he sounds like the kind of guy who names stuff after him and vox says "a certain has-ben" like it sounds like a pun on his name more than an actual plain insult. Why did he name a hotel hazbin it sounds like has-ben but the hotel never was popular its just so random so that is his cannon last name in my mind until viv comes out and says it
@fanofall1163 It kinda makes sense they said Alistor reappeared after 7 years, and Lilith disappeared 7 years. Not mention he didn't made deal with Charlie, and he only asked for to be entertained. I find it funny that Alastor seemed perfectly fine with not announcing his return until Vox found out he was back and starting shit talking him. He then calmly went to his studio and gave Vox the fucking smack down
This song lives rent-free in my head lol Not only because of the great music, but also because it shows and explains on the one hand the dynamic between Vox and Alastor and on the other hand how Alastor handles his enemies; The song starts with Vox mocking and insulting Alastor, in the middle Alastor joins battle, playing along and slowly wearing him down, contrasting Vox shooting off at his mouth. By the time the song ends, Alastor has successfully infuriated Vox with his taunts and snide remarks to the point where he couldn't keep up this verbal repartee, and so Alastor takes the privilege of ending the song, with the exact same melody it had, when Vox started it. Pure perfection.
What makes Alastor so much more menacing is the ending. The Vs are having their fun, and he'll play their game. But when it comes to a close, he is dead serious. And he will love watching them squirm. You only become so powerful in Hell by being a truly, deeply vile person.
@@therealjamespotter Lucifer is a fallen angel, he was born with this kind of divine power. The sinners on the other hand have to work hundreds of years for just a hint of his might.
Three meanings. 1. He's cooking Alastor to the point where "medium" cook becomes a "bloody rare" cook 2. His medium of radio is getting so uncommon that it's rare, bloody being an expression of how extreme it is. 3. He's cooking a blood covered deer, which is Alastor's symbol, stating that he's going to make Alastor bleed like a deer cooked "bloody rare" deer.
And fun fact, Radio is inherently stronger than Television. TV uses radio waves, so the brilliance here is that Alastor is above Vox because TV needs Radio.

Well from how Vox was talking in the song and also from the little news captions on the bottom of the screen during that part, he really wants people to BELIEVE he put up a good fight. It seems to the audience though that he is pissing himself from being scared of what alastor can do. I get the feeling that fight either was very one sided and alastor just left him to embarrasment or Vox could tell Alastor was holding back what he could do to make the fight fun Alastor's main motivator is kinda boredom as far as we know, so right before he left the city entirely him dragging out a fight to be interesting would fit
Ijbol, I don't know where people got the information that Alastor is unbeatable. He's one of the strongest demons in hell, but he's still underneath the royals and the capital sins themselves. Vox is as much of an overlord as Alastor, so obviously they're comparable in power.

Sort of shows in the song, Vox was quick to try and assert dominace and show off, but Alaster just let him run his mouth till he was ready and then calmly showed how much of a pro he was and knew what buttons to actually press to get Vox angry.
I think so. I mean when you think in respect to media these days. Yes, we have TV and shows, but while some people may not listen to the car radio that much, podcasts are still quite big. And what are they? Radio-esque broadcasts where you can be famous and have "a face for radio".
Gotta pay some respect to Vox’s VA. Imagine how long it took him to sing that fast WITHOUT messing up. It took me at least 6 replays to finally get it.
the way this song slowly transitions the presence from Vox to Alastor, from the flow reversing on itself halfway in to Alastor outright mimicking one of Vox’s lines. not to mention starting in Vox’s broadcast room and ending in Alastors radio tower. Alastor and Vox’s rivalry is basically the old radio show media VS the new television streaming media. The old status quo vs the new status quo. *_🎶Welcome to the show!🎶_*
Not really vox is TV and Video but Alaster control anything that uses EM radiation and transmits anything. He is not the demon of radio but the god of radio waves . This is way Vox has no chance
And a little real-life subtext - radio hasn’t really changed, but it’s also stayed a fairly stable TECHNOLOGY. Video, in all its formats, keeps shifting in technology because of BUSINESS reasons - companies want profit, so they basically pump and dump fads and trends, but radio is still basically the same, AND it’s really hard to regulate. All you need is a big enough antenna, and you can broadcast, and it’s hard for capitalists to stop that and make money. I’m kinda hyped to watch where this goes

The symbolism between radio and video is quite clear. Radio is sustainable because it has been around for a very long time. As soon as a small glitch occurs, everyone loses their minds. Due to the reliance on visual stimulus, when video goes down, people either start threatening or begin to lose their minds, attempting to recover. However, radio, with its focus on listening, hearing, comprehending, and fostering independent thoughts, is sustainable and likely to last much longer than video. You don't need to see something to extrapolate its appearance.
Even conceptually tho Alastor should have no power over Vox, because just based off his powers Vox should have control of Alastors media medium as well.

I love his this song highlighted the glaring differences between Alastor and Vox, and why the latter feels so irritated and intimidated with Alastor’s disappearance. Vox jumps from show to show, relying on a glaring lights and his loud auctioneer-like voice to keep his audience’s attention. He controls every screen in hell, but all Alastor needed was one radio tower to completely enrapture his audience and steal Vox’s place as head entertainer. No wonder Vox is so obsessed with taking him down. If left unchecked, Alastor will destroy everything he’s worked for the past 7 years and make him an outdated fossil.

2:36 watching this last part was so cool cause you see more of the powerful alastor we haven't seen a ton of. i think it will be very interesting to see more of the overlord side of him
1:21 Can we just appreciate the line "Now his medium is getting bloody rare" because 1. His "medium" (radio) is getting rare (scarce) 2. Medium (level of steak cooked-ness) is getting rare (another level, when cooked longer) + the dead deer imagery in the show during the line alluding to cooked meat again

In one case, he may have been sent by lillith to help her daughter learn something. In the other, he may be trying to get a leg up on lillith in terms of power or something.
I'm enjoying the anticipation
THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT
@LillianaAftonI think this too! Lilith owns Alastor, I wonder if she has ordered him to keep Charlie safe.
Alastor just keeps his calm while Vox just ends up flipping out lol.
True power versus fake power
@@ExceedProduction Honestly, I personally think they might be equal in power, but it may not be confirmed yet unless they fight in season 2 or something

YES THANK YOU!!!! CHRISTIAN BORLE ABSOLUTELY ATE THIS UP
This entire song was great tbh
They're great performances, both of them, but I think it's fair to point out how both of them bounced off and reacted to each other to really give us character development for both. Vox's takedown was great, but it was cheap and dropped before Alastor even had a chance to speak, but when he does push back Vox crumbles to sand. I think that level of detail was pulled off phenomenally by both performances.
Vox did absolutely devour his lines
I just love Vox and Alastor’s rivalry and how Alastor’s unapologetically savage/dismissive while Vox clearly is the one obsessed here.😂❤❤❤
I think Alastor hates Vox almost as much as Vox hates Alastor. Alastor really hates TVs and he DOES give Vox attention that he doesn't show to, say, Sir Pentious. Alastor is just better at getting under Vox's skin, and Vox seems to feel much more threatened by Alastor.

Anyone else notice that Charlie says Lilith last contacted her 7years ago, and Alistor left 7years ago?
There is also a theory that one of the overlords, Rosie, is Lilith in disguise, but the thing is, Rosie is a younger demon. Let's not forget both sides don't know who killed the exorcist, and I don't want to want like asshole but Charlie needs to step up and defend her home. The demons sound like total push overs and let the angels do whatever they want.
His last name is Hartfelt, it’s been stated. I don’t think theyd make it something sad and pathetic like has-been. "It ain't much, but it's honest work."
"Oooh, I'm gonna INCINERATE you on the tower just you see!"
This song lives rent-free in my head lol
Not only because of the great music, but also because it shows and explains on the one hand the dynamic between Vox and Alastor and on the other hand how Alastor handles his enemies; The song starts with Vox mocking and insulting Alastor, in the middle Alastor joins battle, playing along and slowly wearing him down, contrasting Vox shooting off at his mouth.

Three meanings.
1. He's cooking Alastor to the point where "medium" cook becomes a "bloody rare" cook
2. His medium of radio is getting so uncommon that it's rare, bloody being an expression of how extreme it is.
3. He's cooking a blood covered deer, which is Alastor's symbol, stating that he's going to make Alastor bleed like a deer cooked "bloody rare" deer.
You know, with the rise of podcasts you could kinda argue radio is kind of back
Especially with how often people just play them as background noise while working on something else.

Even conceptually tho Alastor should have no power over Vox, because just based off his powers Vox should have control of Alastors media medium as well.

blud pulled a jjk
One thing i really like about this show is that whenever there is a news program the caption at the bottom is always hysterical.
This is making me excited to watch their rivalry in future episodes
i love Alastor....and he had no reason to get all freaky and big but he did just for the hell of it
Part of me wonders... theres a stringy cracking during his Lets Begin, so maybe he transforms to make his own creepy noises, since he doesnt use things like soundboards
@@OvercutHood oooo.....yeah!
Everyone can agree that Alastor sounded very 💅🏽💅🏽💅🏽 when he said "that's the tea."
IF Alastor would have joined the Vees he would have been "A" according to their naming conventions. Keeping it on brand they might have gone with "VA" which makes me so weirdly happy... y'know... since he would have been a voice actor
This was one of the best songs they’ve done
Vox VA is doing a great job, love that character
Only song that progressed the story and didn't feel forced imo, it actually feels like a song you'd hear in a musical (and a great one at that)
Yeah most of the songs felt kinda forced for me execept for this one
i like a fair few, i dont particularly see them as forced, but more as a colorful or different way to pace a conversation, specifically stuff like Hell is Forever and Respectless go that route, A progressive conversation talking about a primary matter, (though i'd wish they did more than just talk about the Angel head in Respectless)
Alastor's characterization is really good. He reappeared out of nowhere, we have no info about him, but all the villains are shitting themselves because of him.
HELP THIS MADE ME CACKLE
No one moved when Alastor came back but Vox because he wants his attention
@@BitterParadise Well all the other villains took note of when he came back just in case, that should count for something
@@therealjamespotter I'm pretty sure if any overlord disappeared and came back after 7 years the others would be curious they make up the ruling body of the pride ring. Yall tryna make it seem like they're all scared shitless of him which is pure headcanon and it's annoying to see alastor do something as simple as take a step and everyone dubs him all powerful
@@BitterParadise Okay, but Vivzie purposefully made it seem like he was super powerful what with the things we have literally seen him do. I’m trying to understand where you’re coming from here and its not clicking
2:28 i love Alastor part
LETS BEGIN, talking about very funny memes because yes
I love the obvious fact that Vox and Alastor has a big rivalry that's completely being shown in the song. Vox starts out strong but starts to lose it the *second* Alastor got on air. Alastor in the entire song was completely calm while Vox was obviously starting to heat up and freeze. It really shows their dynamic, Vox being scared of Alastor beating him, for being his rival and Alastor is barely giving 2 shits since he only lets Vox do this for shits and giggles of his own entertainment.
That last part is a bit generous
@@BitterParadiseWhat do you mean by that?
I love how you can’t find the video of this on UA-cam since alastor said he was made for radio
I adore how vox’s voice sounds like he’s providing a news report or he’s in a podcast
