Crazy that Adam threatened Vaggie with being an Angel in the past, imagine if she spoke up about that in the middle of the court hearing. Told everyone that Heaven rewarded her for slaughtering thousands but then brutally punished her for sparing a child.
If the deal that protects the hellborn limits the violence to sinners, and can extend to angels like Vaggie or (as initially intended) Lucifer? Lute tearing into Vaggie could be a breach... and might be why that other angel was successfully killed. The Exorcists lost their protection.
Emily is definitely Charlie's parallel. They're sheltered, naive, in high places, with strong sense of morals and belief in virtues, both open and willing to extend a hand to others, and tbh their respective naiveté likely comes from the adults who love them sheltering them and thinking they aren't strong enough to be burdened in unintentional condescension. Tho Emily is more sheltered than Charlie just on account of never having known of the extermination while Charlie has to live with that knowledge. Lucifer has given up (after being crushed by Heaven), Sera has resigned and hardened her heart entirely--Emily and Charlie are definitely gonna be an important bond made going forward
I think Emily not knowing is less about being sheltered/naive and more about Sera purposefully keeping this a secret from the majority of heaven's population and apparently even high ranking angels (Emily is a seraph). And i think Sera's 'explanation' that it was to protect Emily is a lie, i'm pretty sure it's because she knows how hypocritical it is and she's ashamed of herself and afraid of being exposed.
@stillwatersrundeep001 Well I mean that IS sheltering Emily from it, and Emily's ignorance (whatever Sera's reasons) means she's naive in that way. But I don't see why it necessarily is a lie even if there are additional reasons. Just finding out about the extermination caused Emily to join her voice with Charlie's that "if hell is forever, then heaven must be a lie"--i could very easily see Sera knowing that and being afraid that Emily would go the way of Lucifer and for that to be a huge motivation. A lot of characters in this season have demonstrated the desire to protect their own, either through fighting or through keeping secrets (from them and/or from others). And since Sera hasn't shown any evidence that she DOESN'T care about Emily, it can both be a truthful statement and there can be more to it, which wouldn't make it a lie

I was surprised but glad that the angels weren’t all bloodthirsty for the Sinners to die. This song had so much significance packed into it and Charlie and Emily singing together was great.😊 Definitely hypocritical to preach forgiveness, mercy and repentance when none of theses are being given even though Charlie showed proof that change is possible and Angel is earning it.😡 I’m also just like “Sera, if there’s something they don’t know, then how about you explain it to them instead of just leading them on like you maybe were going to say yes, unless you don’t actually know yourself and/or are too scared to ask?”🤨🤨🤨
I love how Emily is cheerful and nice only when it's contextually appropriate to be so, and becomes a no-nonsense arbiter whenever she sniffs out obvious bullcrap excuses from her own side.
@@FallenOne669 Oh, certainly. Anyone who reads and understands the Bible knows what gets a soul into Heaven, depending on which part of the book you refer to. Jesus was very much about forgiveness and second chances, allowing for probably unlimited salvation for anyone. Since that is not what they are doing in the show, they are going with the...other view. Which is that your virtue doesn't matter, just your obedience to the rules. Which is why Adam is celebrated while murdering thousands, while Vaggie is cast down for showing mercy to a child. What is right does not matter, only obedience does.
Personnally, I think the change and the integrity of the sinner who seeks redemption should be during as long as his/her life (So if the sinner lived 26 years as a human, he needs to keep having good behavior in hell for 26 years)
Am I the only one who is in love with Sara's voice. Like when she sang the line "it's not as simple as you think. Not everything is spelled in ink." That cry at the beginning and the faceta(spelt wrong) chang at the end was just 👌🏻 chef's kiss
Really love their joint singing. The orchestra goes 200% to make it feel even stronger and more impactful. It also helps that it is a reprise of Adam's villain song. It genuinely gives me goosebumps every time.
The parallels in the designs of Charlie and Emily are really drawn out in the thumbnail. The starburst on the chest vs the tie, the rosy cheeks vs the freckles, the mirrored eye shapes, the shoulder padding, the mirrored sweeps of the hair. Great stuff.
This song quite literally embodies the emotions an ex-religious person feels, like, I have screamed some of Emily’s lines as I cried in a closet, cursing my religion for being such- hypocrites. A beautiful way of showing the emotions a person with religious trauma experiences every day. I feel so close to Emily for being, quite literally torn between worlds, she loves and trusts Sera but has the ideals of Charlie. And that betrayal is what every kid that grew up religious and left has felt.
As much as i hate their characters, Adam and Lute's VA's have some amazing lungs on them. I mean wow, they went hard! And Adam for the second tim after 'hell is forever'. and despite the fact we only saw her for one ep, Emily is just amazing. She turned on the other angels and called them out on their bs there and then and sided with Charlie.
The way she welcomes Charlie and Vaggie shows that she sees nothing bad, even if someone from Hell visits. She sees them all the same. Indifferent. So what happened at court, will shatter her believes that in the end, Angels are not that different from what they say are the Hells residents like. And she has to be kept safe at all cost! She is just too sweet and innocent.
Adam isn’t a bad singer but he doesn’t sound as good as the others. He’s got a good ‘Disney character’ singing voice. But lutes VA could be a pop star!
@@LadyHarley Its probably what the directors wanted Adam's voice to be. Alex has done roles from Boq in Wicked to Beetlejuice as Beetlejuice (actually went through vocal training so he could sing in Beetlejuice's voice without damaging his throat) and Dewey in School of Rock so he's got range. He was also Pentious' (I probably misspelled that) VA as well.
I love this song. It was satisfying to see Charlie being heard and taken seriously for once. Even having a moment to take a jab at Adam and Lute. Lute is starting to become unlikeable. She looks down on Angel but she left someone for dead without giving a chance to explain. Even the visuals show Emily being the true definition of being an angel while Sera seems too clouded with fear to accept the messed-up reality of the situation.
"If hell is forever then heaven must be a lie! If angels can do whatever and remain in the sky! The rules are shades of gray when you don't do as you say! When you make the wretched suffer just to kill them again!" literally screaming 🤘
@sasselfraz thanks for supplying the line. "mighty" and "might be" match up, but this line utilizes a dangling phrase as is done in other parts of the song. It just doesn't have follow up lyrics
„If Hell is forever, then haven must be a lie! If angels can do whatever, and remain in the sky... The rules are shades of gray when you don't do as you say! Whan you make the wretched suffer just to kill them again!„ Personally, I think this is the best part of this song
The voice actors here are on a different level! Such skill and harmonies displayed! You get the story from every angle while listening to art at its finest!
I'm strangely mesmerized by this song simply because there's so much that stands out. Emily, Sera and Charlie all have such beautiful voices, Adam and Lute's "Hell is Forever" reprise is a bop and so many sections are just too good to pick a favorite part.
It’s crazy that in just six episodes, the animation has amazing quality, the facial expressions and characters qualities are shown 110% of the time. The musical numbers are great, and the story moves along nicely with little to no filler. This show is truly blowing me away in terms of production, effort, and talent ❤️
I first listened to this song in Spanish as the episode was only available in Spanish at the time for me. When Emily and Charlie sing together, a line they sing in Spanish translates to "If hell is forever then heaven can wait" which I absolutely LOVE. I was hoping to hear that here too. "Then heaven must be a lie" is also a great line but there's something about the line in Spanish that I just adore. I only heard it once but that just stuck to me. Hazbin Hotel is incredible and hopefully I can finish watching it soon.
This episode for me fixed a lot of problems with heaven “Why would heaven allow the exterminations” Because most of heaven doesn’t know about it, many in the court even seemed horrified by this revelation, I mean imagine how some Winners in heaven would react if they found out that their family or friends in hell were being killed.
I love that they referenced several songs changing their context and meaning. Making a song about killing one for the many, to killing many for one. Hell is forever with rules black and white, heaven is a lie with rules of grays. I love it, I like clever songs

I loved this song because of the duet between Charlie and Emily This sounds too awesome Also, the lore is revealed very coolly, with each episode there are more and more cool moments that fuel interest in further viewing
It's not that Vaggie was an angel, but an exterminator specifically. She killed residents of hell during countless exterminations. She participated in the very thing that Charlie sees as the most cruel institution ever enacted by heaven.
This song is so powerful. listening properly to the lyrics, you can properly hear the words and the emotions presented in each line. Its amazingly well done. X
Isn't Vaggie like, the proof souls can redeem themselves? Because if you can go from Angel to Devil, you should be able to go the other way around, otherwise Heaven is hypocritical (which it is). The fact Vaggie is a fallen angel might actually be the strongest case Charlie has.
I’m not sure if she’s actually fallen tho, they just left her there with no ability to come back, idk if it’s the same thing as Lucifer, since Lucifer wasn’t even allowed to be in heaven which is why he wasn’t there with Charlie

I find it really fascinating the parallels between Sera and Carmilla in their respective songs, both willing to keep secrets that kill thousands of people just to keep that ones they love from the honest truth
Also that while Carmilla is killing through inaction, Sera fully allowed the execution of sinners
I don’t really see the parallel personally because Sera is hiding the truth of the extermination and Carmilla is trying to prevent war with with heaven
@@viperousrook1511 Carmilla doesn't want others to know that she has the mean to kill angels because then everyone will want it and it'd just guarantee that heaven descends upon hell to wipe them out
@@spiderglitch22 You mean Sera kills by inaction (not stopping Adam) and Carmilla is the one actively, continouisly selling weapons to kill other sinners/the exorcists? Sera is protecting all of Heaven, while Carmialla only protects her 2 daughters

I love that Charlie's not upset about Vaggie being an angel but about the fact that Vaggie never told her. It's like "look, my whole deal is redemption, and you didn't think I'd want you to redeem yourself?"
Idk man “she took part in the very thing we’ve been trying so hard to end” seemed like she was at least partially upset about her being an angel even tho when she found her she was already fallen and wouldn’t have been able to be involved with the exterminations since then.
Can u imagine if they met while she was still an angel tho but somehow hid it from her?
@@shakeymistakey3881 I dont think the issue was that she was an angel, its the fact that she was an EXTERMINATOR. She knows now that most angels werent aware of the extermination to begin with so its not like she'd blame Vaggie just for being an angel alone
I was surprised but glad that the angels weren’t all bloodthirsty for the Sinners to die. This song had so much significance packed into it and Charlie and Emily singing together was great.😊
Definitely hypocritical to preach forgiveness, mercy and repentance when none of theses are being given even though Charlie showed proof that change is possible and Angel is earning it.😡 I’m also just like “Sera, if there’s something they don’t know, then how about you explain it to them instead of just leading them on like you maybe were going to say yes, unless you don’t actually know yourself and/or are too scared to ask?”🤨🤨🤨
Perhaps Sera doesn't want to burden Emily with the knowledge.
I think Sera does know what gets a soul into Heaven, and that it's not their virtue.
Personnally, I think the change and the integrity of the sinner who seeks redemption should be during as long as his/her life (So if the sinner lived 26 years as a human, he needs to keep having good behavior in hell for 26 years)
The sheer efficiency of having 3 episodes worth of plot happen in a single song and have that song still be a friggin bop? Incredible stuff.
if only we had 3 episodes worth of plot as well

Really love their joint singing. The orchestra goes 200% to make it feel even stronger and more impactful. It also helps that it is a reprise of Adam's villain song. It genuinely gives me goosebumps every time.
Omg lute killed it on her part
UA-cam recommended this in a Mix titled "Children's Music". They really gotta work on that algorithm. lol

0:07 I LOVE THAT LITTLE HEAVENLY INSTRUMENT IN THE BACKGROUND
Thats my favorite part of the song ngl if anyone knows what that instrument or sound is can you let me know
@@isabellathetiger4802 I don’t know the exact instrument but I think there’s something called a DX piano or Dixie piano that sounds kinda like it? Idk
Their VAs, like a good chunk of the cast, have been on Broadway and both these two had lead roles that were belters.

And the way he said it. That wasn't the tone of "I just revealed classified information." It was an "Oh yeah, I wasn't supposed to say that."

Whan you make the wretched suffer just to kill them again!„

I love how this song shifts like six different times and it’s awesome

This episode for me fixed a lot of problems with heaven
“Why would heaven allow the exterminations”
Because most of heaven doesn’t know about it, many in the court even seemed horrified by this revelation, I mean imagine how some Winners in heaven would react if they found out that their family or friends in hell were being killed.

I don't understand why it should matter that Vaggie is an angel, Charlie's father is a seraphim.
It's not that Vaggie was an angel, but an exterminator specifically. She killed residents of hell during countless exterminations. She participated in the very thing that Charlie sees as the most cruel institution ever enacted by heaven.
Charlie's not mad at Vaggie for being an angel but disappointed for her not telling her she's an angel.

Isn't Vaggie like, the proof souls can redeem themselves? Because if you can go from Angel to Devil, you should be able to go the other way around, otherwise Heaven is hypocritical (which it is). The fact Vaggie is a fallen angel might actually be the strongest case Charlie has.
