You had engine shut down because you flew at max torque and blew the gearbox. The fuel switch auto goes to cutoff when that happens. Also, you hot started it and you annunc panel advised of chip detect. Naughty. When reaching 40 just give it a small amount of fuel otherwise she hotstarts.
Great video. Glad to see you back in the wild. I have the Hayfork add on and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Orbx supplies a complete road (with signage) to drive up to the lookout. I drove it (about 30k) in the Juice Goose and had a blast. 😊
8:30 Watch your torque gauge (left of the radar altimeter)! You are going past the red line multiple times. Too much collective + too sudden maneuvers putting load on the blades = engine/gearbox damage. If the needle is past the red line for more than 6 seconds the engine suffers damage (Chip Detect on the announciator panel at 10:07). When the engine fails the fuel cut off switch goes to the off position automatically. That's how Taog currently simulates the engine failure. P.S.: also make sure that the throttle is rolled all the way too 100% after the engine start. The torque will be significantly higher on a lower setting. I don't know if that's realistic, but that's how it is with Taog's Huey.
Great video! I enjoyed your comments about vintage aircraft of the '50s and '60s. A long time ago I actually got to fly a C-119! I was in the Air Force ROTC at San Francisco State College. We were on a field trip up to Hamilton AFB, which included a flight in a C-119. I remember that the leading edge of the wing looked like a scaled-up piece of aluminum foil that somebody had crumpled into a ball then stretched out over the leading edge. Hail? Steel bugs? Anyway, we all got to go up to the cockpit, sit in the pilot's seat, and actually fly the airplane. It was great!!
I fly the Huey as a recreational pilot and i got to say they made the Huey pretty damn authentic, i have this Huey in Flight Simulator too and you're right when it comes to the handling and the dynamics of flight :) and by the way, nice auto rotate for the emergency landing AvAngel :D
Wonderful flight/sound~! Love the Hawaiian wiggle waggle! This heli needs to be experienced in VIRTUAL REALITY YESSSS. Maybe AvAngel should invest in a Quest III vr set, no?
Fantastic video ! It's 1.30 am here, maybe I should start up the sim myself, 2am seems about right. We used to live next to the main RNZAF Huey base so I'm well acquainted with how they sound, then when I was a vollie firefighter we did a big exercise with about 10 brigades and a huey with a fire bucket. We started with lessons in how to get in and out of a Huey - there were about 60 of us so it had to be done fast and we were told there wasn't time to tighten and loosen seat belts so just put them on loose and hold on. I was on one of the sideways facing seats and the doors were removed so I had an awesome view as we rose straight up, then we rolled 45 degrees to do a tight circle and I was suddenly looking straight down at the beach and not really strapped in, you'd never get away with that these days :) Then we did some mock scrub fire fighting - I was on the team pumping water from a creek into the bucket so every 4 minutes the huey came thundering back and sat 15 feet above us for 30 seconds ! Somebody dropped their hose while we were filling it up one time so I dived onto the hose and laid on it with slurry blasting up past my face, the huey was loud but the loadmaster cracking up laughing was louder :) I got an official well done for jumping on the hose to stop it doing any damage, but much better, two of us got a ride back to the RNZAF base in the chopper :)
Nice! Glad to see you got Hayfork! ❤ The Huey shouldn't be too far away for us Xboxians.....so, me, Hayfork and Cal Fire Huey will be a match made in heaven.
I’m not originally from Yorkshire but I’ve lived here for 15 years. Love the place, but the accent isn’t something I suppress intentionally, I just never had it, blame posh school lol
@@AvAngel 😂 🤣I think from living up that way decades ago, I always consciously listen for any trace of the old On Ilkla Mooar Baht 'at. Some weird linguistic habit.
The fuel switch goes to the off position automatically when the gearbox damage kicks in, that's how Taog currently simulates the loss of power. Keep the torque gauge needle below the red line at all times to prevent that from happening.
I'm having the same sudden cut-off issue in this and a series of other aircraft. Something to do with the last update? Huey is a workhorse, the Ecuriel, less so, but nimble. Set down helo, search internet.....
I've been having the same issue with the engine dying. I was SO excited to watch this video because I was thinking, "I'll just watch AvAngel really closely and she'll show me how to do it." Glad to know it wasn't just my incompetence (I hardly ever fly helicopters but I was really excited for this one), but any suggestions on how to avoid it from others would be very, very, very welcome.
@@AvAngel I wrote the developer and got an email saying it was because I was over torquing it, and I should read the manual. As I said in my initial email to then I did it exactly by the check list, and was definitely not over torquing it. I'm a bit frustrated that the developer's reply was "You're doing it wrong" rather than just check the issue.
wait a second - what are you doing to / on your office chair that the seat cracks? :P Also I maintain that there is no bug with the Helo, you just wanted to show off your emergency landing skills.
You might be over-torque-ing and destroying the main gear box. Since MSFS doesn’t simulate failures the devs shutoff the fuel switch next to the rotor rpm. Next time it happens check page 2 on the tablet to see if there is damage. That’s also why the engine won’t restart when you release the starter…
@@AvAngel hmmm…I’ve never run into that. Are you on Taog’s Discord? They’re pretty responsive to bug reports and issues. Great video btw :) I love your content
Most beautiful Huey in a sim. I only wish it had the FM of DCS; because every chopper in MSFS just feels... like an RC chopper. There's no real weight and momentum
I have watched other MSFS streamers and they have lost their throttle inflight for no apparent reason. I wonder if it has anything to do with the recent update??
Love your reviews and i think this Heli is the best in game so far.
The chopping sounds are so realistic!
I loved that while in the Marines!

Maybe the fuel switch somehow got mapped to the same key as some other function?

Subaru make the 212 and 412 in cooperation with bell/boeing
Beautiful!!
I'm wandering what gear do you use to flight the helis?
I use my saitek proflight pedals, Honeycomb Alpha yoke nad Bravo quadrant (not ideal, but it works once used to it)

It can’t
