- Southern Nevada hits triple-digit temperatures in the summer. Right now, there are no heat protections for Nevada workers. However, as Channel 13's Jaewon Jung reports, they could be coming soon.
Lack of moral direction. Lack of empathy. And we like to say we are a God-fearing people.
Guess which side has a problem with giving workers rights? You guessed it, republicans. They literally passed House Bill 2127 in Texas which strips construction workers of the right to water breaks every four hours and time to rest in the shade while on the job. GOP has no morals, no empathy, and most of them claim to be Christians...
You summed up the maga party to a T.
But then why these fat old business owners go on the news to claim they are actually the victims and are "god fearing americans"?
Also claiming that rules and regulations are against god, jesus and their free market freedoms or whatever...
Its certainly not a lack of religious belief as to why theres a lack of morality
For sure a very toxic society ... trickles down into our every day lives unfortunately
Maybe the people working in government should turn off their AC as it costs too much
Try being a welder in the state of Texas during the summer. I retired from the same company after 30 years welding here in Texas. My boss provided us with gatoraid and an ice machine if we needed ice. I will always be grateful for that.
Good to hear
Kentucky passed a law that employers do not have to give workers lunch breaks or any breaks. Also they dont have to pay workers for time traveled between jobs. Like lawncare crews. Way to go Kentucky. Got to love those Red States.
Never vote Republican!
Neither does Arizona can’t believe it. I used to work out in the heat. I’m so glad I moved away from that hell of a state.
WOW thats terrible! How long has this been going on?
Really? We have been working in heat for years! I almost retired! When are these kids gonna learn to take care of themselves! Bring water - put on hat! Grow up & take care of oneself & stop asking for NANNY STATE!
@@alisonelizabeth9375 perhaps its hotter in current times than decades before. I believe this is more rooting for policy on companies providing than out of workers own pockets - like providing water and hats, as you mentioned. Employers do need to provide basic protection and it shouldn't be completely out of already low-wager' pockets when the companies make million$
Same. I left there in 2019
Joe Lombardo vetoed the Bi-partisan bill that would have allowed for heat mitigation for outdoor workers.
I've got an idea...UNIONIZE!!!
The Mexicans run the unions in Nevada that's why they're so weak
Anyone who bitches about these guys wanting some kind of heat release , have never worked outside in this deadly heat . It's not as easy as you think . Try just being a flagger on a road job sometime . Heat will kill you .
Thank the gop and their corporate masters.
That's totally insane!! Are they just wanting people to just kill over in the heat ?!? Why don't they let those crews work at night? Less traffic & cooler
Thank you, local reporters 😊
Arizona and Texas need laws to protect from heat too.
Did you not know when you applied you'd be working in the elements?
The agreed to work in the heat not die in the heat. I hate trust fund babies and their bootlickers
I heard Nevada can get warm.
Should they not work and starve?
Your slaves agreed to work in the heat not die in the heat
Spoken like a true republican.
How many could die,or end up in the hospital before Nevada does anything for their workers ??? 😢
It’s hot in Nevada. We know this.
I’ve worked my entire career in construction and not once was I denied water or a cooling off period an that applies for everyone I don’t care what trades you’re in. I don’t care if your union or nonunion. It applies to everyone believe it or not employers are not allowed to work employees to death, there are laws against that so to hear people saying we need regulation is a bunch of bull crap, hell even the guy they were interviewing was saying he gives them water breaks and shade whatever is needed for his guys like I said it’s just a bunch of fear mongering
They work in Red states that have passed laws against heat breaks. Some states have passed bills to disallow lunch and breaks of any kind.
@@organicwest Oh OK, Well you wrote it on your screen so it must be true, like I said I’ve worked a lot of years in the trade and you’re also talking to someone that spent a lot of years in charge of safety protocols so in other words you know nothing.
If you work an employee to death in the heat, youll soon get a bad reputation of ppl not wanting to work for you at all, who can risk that type of bad news, and NO red states do not pass those kindes of laws, those laws would be against OSHA standarda and they would be fined, get your head out of your stupid liberal ass !!!
@@Lawleygagger Joe Lombardo vetoed the Bi-partisan bill that would have allowed for heat mitigation for outdoor workers. Look it up in the Nevada state record if you don't believe me. You won't since it will hurt your feelings when you see the truth of it.
@@organicwest apparently you just hurt my feelings lol, I know that it didn’t pass, but did you ever ask yourself why? It’s so that people do not die of heat stroke if you’re going to put a mandatory break at 10:30 in the morning so that people have time to rest and cool down what happens to the others that cannot wait that long they’re not gonna get a break and yet they’re two hours away from it, so in some situations, yeah some companies are gonna be forced not to give you a break until 10:30. I mean after all you wouldn’t want to break the law, would you. So if you would’ve passed that law that you were talking about you would’ve created a worse situation for people, like I said before we already have rules about employers working employees to death. Or how about another scenario a lot of different companies that work outside in the heat tend to start there work hours very early in the morning that way they can leave when it starts getting hot 11 or 12 o’clock let’s say and a lot of the workers are all about staying out of that heat, that’s a good thing but if you change the rules now they’re gonna have to start at 7 o’clock in the morning, maybe eight and work until four in the heat of the day you’re again just creating a worse situation. Look I can write you 1000 word report but that’s just gonna waste my time if you’re never gonna understand it just go do some research about why it didn’t pass.
People have always worked outdoors. Don't rely on jobs to help you. Bring your own water and things to cool you off
Workers deserve better! Employer's know that!!
They voted for the Repugs so whatever. Keep voting for cruelty.
You don't need heat protection you have shade and umbrella etc.
Workers need to learn to loom out for their own well being. People are too dumb to relize no one cares about you or your well being. Look out for yourself
Expect being very hot when you take a construction job in a desert. No one gave me a break when running wire for lights or troubleshooting electrical problems in an attic. It’s just the nature of the business. Besides, there’s plenty of shade in an attic, but it doesn’t help.
You’re a bot account.
build high awnings or canopies to cover over areas of construction affecting workers as well. I know that its not something usually in a construction field but temp shade is not a bad build. Its construction remember it can be created.
Says the commision personnel who sit in heated/ac offices lifting file folders! 😢 How much do you bet, if They were the ones out there, things would change in a heartbeat! 😡
It's a desert. It's not up to the government to hand out little umbrellas. Sheesh. Plus she interviews the developer as if he's a victim on a chain gang.
Tents for shade while working with misting fans
Workers don't have no rights in "right to work" State like Nevada lol
More government regulations... people are crazy. dont like your job? quit
And just get evicted?
Regulations are needed.
Obviously, because be cannot be simply trusted to 'do the right thing'.
You guys complain about regulations, and don't realize that without them, we'd be in a 3rd world Country.
Biden 2024.
Gee its like it just started being hot during summer in Nevada or something and nobody who works outside is prepared for it or can handle it like their fathers and grandfathers did so now BigBrother needs to step in and regulate.. Im weeping for you all from the 134 degree attic Im working in in Texas right now..The 2020's are so cringe....😢
Doubt you'd be in there for more than 10 minutes. even at 10% Humidity, the heat index at 130F puts you in the highest risk of heat stroke. These people have to work out in the sun which makes it even worse and they can't get out of the heat as quickly.
I had a heart attack last July because of the heat. We are all expendable. Where is joe lombardo on this. Wake up people.
He vetoed the Bi-partisan bill that would have allowed for heat mitigation for outdoor workers.
😢 people are going to have to start working the night shift during the summer months. I really believe this is going to happen😮😮
Man has worked hundreds of years in that heat and now they want to legislate it?
You got problem with considering the well-being of your fellow humans?
You have a problem with America aiding working men?
These people chose these jobs. Bring some water and quit whining. The last thing we need is more regulations.
Regulations are needed, because People can't be simply trusted to do the right thing.
Biden 2024.

There actually God near Sin City ???
get out there feminist you want equal opportunities take that job
😂😂😂
Being an A H seems to come easy for you...😮
How about not requiring workers to wear hard hats. Hats that trap heat under their heads.
Or they could drink water and take breaks. Accidents don't wait for you to have a hard hat on.
… how about you put your brain back inside of your head before joining the adult conversation?
Yea , brain buckets lol
There's nothing over their heads that I saw in the video. My workplace requires hardhats within 20 feet of a crane activity or high lifting forklift. They're in an open property. They need wide straw hats.
No more government regulations ! ! !
😂😂😂😂😂
Glad our competent government is here to help......
Joe Lombardo vetoed the Bi-partisan bill that would have allowed for heat mitigation for outdoor workers.
Worked Arizona , Needles California ,Laughlin and most the desert and did just fine. Was hot as ballz but drink water, long sleeves and you'll be fine. Or be a baby and get weak.
Only in the unions ,all I see is weak men and when the heat goes up start earlier .And wemen should never address this issue. Worked in a/c trade 40 years attics 160' never one problem. Except swet.
They'll stop complaining when the cheap A.I. powered robots take their jobs away.
It's hotter in Florida where I did construction for years. There's no such thing as "heat protection". Real men worked in 120° heat on the deck of bridges I helped build. We stayed hydrated and didn't cry.
Pat yourself on the back....climate change may not have been 'A Thing' for you 50 yrs ago
And what a shame that you survived, just to make everyone else as miserable as you
No you didn't you, are just a troll.
