A mum at the clinic: "I'm playing classical music to my unborn child to make him smarter." Another mum at the clinic: "I'm playing easy listening music to my baby to make her calmer." Floor: "Well..."
Greetings from Finland & happy holidays to all. I also just learned that while most babys kick when In the womb, Freja was probably already practising her windmills.
This is from a tour called Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas). It's an annual hugely popular Christmas song tour held in various Finnish cities with both Finnish and foreign metal musicians. The whole thing started as an album in 2004. The mastermind Erkka Korhonen came up with the idea to put some metal twist into beloved Christmas songs with well known metal singers. The next year they started touring and it just has gotten bigger by the year. Nightwish as a band is not included, but Marko has been with them I believe every year. Floor has been there since 2016. Also Elize Ryd from Amaranthe, Glenn Hughes and Joe Lynn Turner from Deep Purple and Dee Snider from Twisted Sister have done few concerts.
Freja at school: "What does your mama do for living? Freja: "She's the world's most famous metal singer. And l've been in her concerts even before l was born." So, Merry heavy Christmas from Finland! ⛄🎅🎄
@@MikeandGinger Ginger pleeeeease, Once Upon a Nightmare by Epica :) You really enjoyed Simone's voice in Tides of Time, didn't you? :-) This is a beautiful ballad, although a bit heavier at some points. It contains parts of a poem Erlkonig by Goethe in it's lyrics. Please, do it next: ua-cam.com/video/pNs_pMdZGrw/v-deo.html
No, it was not her old band. This is Raskasta Joulua, which literally translates to ‘Heavy Christmas’. It is basically a superband that is put together from well-known Finnish musicians, and this band has recorded several albums filled with christmas songs in a heavy metal arrangement. Each year they do a tour around the country in december and all the shows usually sells out. Needless to say that Floor and Marco are members of this collective. Other members that you might recognize are Elize Ryd (Amaranthe) and Tarja Turunen.
🎄🎄🎄🎶🎶🎶🤶🎅🤘At these Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas) concerts, they bring together many well known metal musicians from Finland and Northern Europe to perform yearly.
Simone was "only" three months pregnant, Floor was five months pregnant here. Freja was born in March. But then again, Floor didn't do a three hour show. 😉
This was from the Raskasta joulua (Heavy Xmas) tour. It started about 15 years ago. Finnish heavy musicians, vocalist with some reinforcements from other countries. Marko has taken part practically every year, Floor several times. At the end of this video Floor shouts MARKO!!! Tarja the original female vocalist of Nightwish and Marko met the first time in 12 years on Raskasta joulua tour in 2017. So they are ok with each other now after all these years. This Xmas Raskasta joulua was a live stream event, because of Covid-19. Just when I am writing this Trinx from "NightDreamers Reacticide" on Discord reminded that it is Tuomas Holopainen 's birthday today. Mine was 5 days ago. So Tuomas and I never had real Birthday parties, all focus was on Xmas. I think it was funny that Floor shouted Kaikki! (Everybody!) just before the highest note of the song. Most people in the audience: "Everybody? I don't think so!" Merry Xmas!
YOU DID IT!!!!!! What a great Christmas present! I love you guys, you're the best! Hey, 13 days of Christmas might start a new trend. LOL! //// You are correct, not Nightwish. It's Raskasta Joulua (Heavy Christmas), an annual Christmas festival featuring many bands. Same concert her and Marco did Ave Maria although a different year obviously. The unpronounceable (to we Americans anyway!) "Joulua" or its variant "Jouluyö" in this song, apparently is Finnish for Christmas. After watching this video for four years now and Raskasta Joulua for even more, it finally dawned on me just yesterday that this is where we, in English, get the word "Yule" from. DUH!!! ...... Seems obvious in retrospect. See, metal music is helping me to learn a little bit of Finnish!
Good point on Yule! While Christmas was imbdued with Christian influences back in the day, the name of the holiday kept the pre-Christian name. Which is kinda cool, because you can wish Hyvää Joulua without taking stances about religion.
As always a very lovely reaction by you! Another reactor said that to get more air in her lungs Floor is leaning more forward and that her voice changed a bit after her pregnancy...it got even more richer. In an interview Floor said that she was a bit tired after the concert lol!! Merry Christmas from the Netherlands!!

If I'm not mistaken you already reacted to Marko and Floor singing Ave Maria: it was the same show, different location/year.

Hey Mike & Ginger. Great reaction! This was not Nightwish but Floor and her Nightwish brothers are inviting their fans to a special live stream event in March. Please have a look at nightwish.com for more info if you have not done so already.
Just imagine what that must have been for that child in her during the whole pregnancy. :) The world class quality singing all day long. I wonder what influence that will have on her in the future. I´d be interesting to know if she has any interest in playing any instrument (or singing).
Not to diminish floor's achievements in any way, but Floor's singing is mostly due to exceptional training and exercise, not talent. Singing is a craft first. And speaking multiple languages isn't that exceptional in the EU. We're a union of 27 nations each with their own language(s) and/or dialects. Learning a second and even third language is pretty normal here... Most people speak English as a second language, and then often speak a third fluently and a forth and even fifth somewhat. So again not to diminish, but speaking multiple languages is pretty much part of daily life here for a majority of people...
Classical singers are often trained to sing in Latin, Italian etc because especially operas are often musicals are sung with the original language. So you need to understand IPA, International Phonetic Alphabet, and then be able to pronounce all those phonetics. But she's Dutch, sings in English as her day job, is married to a Swede and travels around the globe with a bunch of Finns, so she certainly is exposed to several languages. This is something Americans and British sometimes have trouble grasping. But. The song has English lyrics and the audience certainly understood English. So singing it in Finnish was an unnecessary but appreciated extra step she took to connect with the audience on a deeper level. Because she's Floor. She does her best to touch the hearts of the audience regardless of how much effort it takes.
That was the first official DUET for Floor and her daughter, Freja........lol.......the first of MANY !!!!

Floor: "Well..."
Laughing, rolling...

Jouluyö means Christmas (or Yule) night. It's a compound word. You can't have "ou" and "yö" in a single word in Finnish, only in compound words.
