I just bought my first pair of better quality boots (Iron Rangers) and am now jonesing for some Nick's Americana boots. Bravo on this video... well done and remarkable craftmanship on the resole work!!
When a professional Cobbler needs to "take a different approach" to get a boot apart and sounds winded afterwards, its a well made boot! haha. I really hope in the decades and generations to come there are folks like this around keeping us comfortable and saving the environment by making stuff that lasts and is serviceable and rebuildable.
You guys took a boot that looked great, changed it up to make it more casual and it came out looking great! Really well done. Very much enjoyed this video. Thank you!
Really appreciate the production quality of your videos. Not only is it fun to watch the boots get worked on but it's visually appealing too. Keep the great videos coming and I look forward to seeing your channel continue to grow and reach more people
Wow, I learnt more from this video than I ever did after watching all of Nick's boots videos. I own a pair of Nick's and yeah, I think they're a great pair of boots but to understand the construction from your perspective has change the way I look at them. Thank you so much for making this video.
That was an awesome transformation, I really liked the red slip you put in there. Every time I see a video about Nick's boots it gets me closer to pulling the trigger on a pair.
Absolutely fantastic video, I am from Spokane and I just purchased my first pair of nicks boots I should receive them in September. Thank you for all the information and insight I greatly appreciate it. I had to hit your red button of course give you the thumbs up. I look forward to watching more of your videos here shortly thank you
I just came across y'alls channel yesterday or maybe the day before. I've watched and enjoyed several of your videos already. Anyway, I'm glad to see how much you like Nick's boots because I've been wanting a pair for some time. I have to wear safety toed work boots and I'm sick of my feet hurting.
Awesome job and a great pair of boots! Why not use your lemonwood pegs in the outer leather sole? They will expand and contract with the leather whereas nails will loosen on the leather.
Lemon wood pegs are good for manufacturing purposes, but not for repair purposes. Also, Nicks Boots didn’t use lemon wood pegs, probably because wood will not hold up to the strain work boots are put through.
One thing I missed is, why did you remove the mid-soles and lower welt on these since they looked to be in good condition? Was it just customer preference?
The original midsole had been roughed up and glued to. The customer wanted a clean exposed leather waist, so new midsole was necessary. There was no lower welts. The stitching went beyond the turndown welts and was in the midsole only
Loved this video. I just wish you had done some more close up shots of the boot at the end with good lighting! I also was going to say the shank is actually leather, but you caught the misstatement near the end.
Nick's makes a hell of a rugged boot, but the thing I don't like about their stitch-down construction is that you have limited resoles before you run out of leather after restitching and sanding, and then you have to fully re-last and replace half the boot, instead of just putting on a new welt. Personally, I would sacrifice a little bit of that insane strength and durability in order to have the longer overall life and ease of maintenance that comes with a welted boot. I'd still love to have a pair though. I just can't afford them. 🤷♂️
Hmm. I noticed you didn’t replace the squeak pad in the forefoot (between the insole and midsole). Nicks uses a thin black synthetic material to prevent friction. Was it unnecessary or unnoticed? I’m just curious, you do good work I’ve seen. It’s laid down right after they do the shank and Blake the midsoles on.
Good quality video! Seems a little yellow off color but overall good video. Definitely gonna grow with quality like this. I get my nicks in a few weeks. Been waiting months.
just discovered this channel. love y’alls content! one critique: the lighting/filter looks cool but totally detracts from the detail and craftsmanship. fine for b-roll but a bummer when you dig in.
just to let you know Nicks dosn't use metal for the shank its leather shank the only metal is the nails and screws in the midsole and outer sole from a work boot Builder Pro boot made it into a robert style boot looks great
We have 3 locations in North Carolina. Wyattanddad.com can give you all the physical locations and the shipping address for mail in orders. We are actually on the other side of the country from Nick’s boots. They heard about us and wanted to find out what we were about, so they shipped us a pair for the video.

A new Iron Rangers video will be filmed soon. You will be able to go inside the boot in detail in this video. I’m wanting a pair of Nicks too! 😁

The extra flap of leather is a kiltie and it protects the gusseted tongue and provides extra cushion from the laces.
I own a Nicks /Rose Anvil collab in Horween waxed brown. Absolutely love those boots.

Glad we could help!
Love how that leather shank was so solid he thought it was metal wrapped with leather😂. 11:33
Great boots.... great workmanship on the part of Nick's and Cobbler Tony!
Such an amazing job you guys do I’m impressed the way the boots looks.
I love your transparency‼️❤️
Nick's are on my wish list for this year‼️
Great video guys!! I can tell you have so much insight and wisdom. You remind me of my dad too. Back when men were men. 😂👍🏻

He resoled my iron rangers. I have that slip in mine!
@@vinivicci1 Nice! I will have to keep this idea in my back pocket for my next boot resole.
Pull the trigger. !!! You won’t regret it!

Great work! First video of yours I've seen, but it definitely makes me feel even better about my Nick's. Subscribed and look forward to content.
Very impressive. I appreciate the quality content and high production value of your video. Thank you!

Look at that bike Tony drove up in 🤯. Talk about being modest.
Beautiful work!
Great job you are true craftsman!

@@WyattDadCobblerCompany Gotcha, thank you. Incredible work!
Do you charge more fore replacing soles on Nicks boots knowing how well they are built?
Looks amazing!! WOW

Looks amazing! Wish they offered these outsoles! What did you condition and polish them with?
I clean with Lexol cleaner and used Bick4 conditioner.

It’s unnecessary with the method I use. Manufacturers use a different type of cement than we do. Ours binds a lot stronger

That’s a good lookin pair of boots
Wow those look nice.
Great job.👍
I own a pair Nick's,they are tanks.
Nice work 👍

Good job! 👍
Has anyone compared their Nicks sizes to their Arcteryx/New Balance sizes? Always ordered half the size down?
just to let you know Nicks dosn't use metal for the shank its leather shank the only metal is the nails and screws in the midsole and outer sole from a work boot Builder Pro boot made it into a robert style boot looks great
That’s why I corrected that statement near the end of the video.
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany thanks
what model of nicks boot was that?
great sole! Love mine
Great video and fine work, thanks. What model Nick’s is that boot? Cheers
Thanks! Not sure on the model.
Great video I enjoyed it ! Where is Your shop ? ( I'm guessing You're in close proximity to Nick's boot shop )

NICKS ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Hey man do you have any idea what type of leather those boots were?
I didn’t research that. I’m sure that model is detailed on their website though.
Thanks!
Is that the rapid e you using?
Yes.
The shank is all leather. Nicks doesn’t put steel shanks in their boots
You didn’t finish the video, did you?
Nicks ships their boots with leather laces.
the shank is just leather with a wedge on top of it. no steel
If you finish the video, you will see the correction. The video was designed to discover as we went along. 😁
😍 😍
So thats actually a full leather shank
Yes, it’s surprisingly supportive
Come on, why not use red stitches, they'd pop really nice!
The customer requested orange. 😊
@@WyattDadCobblerCompany That's a shame but what can you do =P
Great video, and very lousy loud music
There is no steel in the boot. The shank is leather, not steel.
You didn’t finish the video
Loose the music. It's not doing anything for the vids.
Beautiful work!
