One point they don't mention is the danger of falling into the sea when geared up or carrying a ruck sack, especially with waist or chest strap. At around 5.40, if either had slipped into the sea they would have been stuggling with several extra kilos of rope and gear. Maybe consider using a bandolier or sling to hold the gear on the approach, they can be jettisoned more easily in that situation.
