- As part of the Bicentennial celebrations, the Michaelhouse 7’s team made the pilgrimage to the very patch of grass where it all began, in order to compete against 20 teams from 11 different nations for highest honours in the Rugby School International U18 Sevens Tournament.
After 2 gruelling days of showstopping rugby, facing some of the finest opposition the world has to offer, coach James Fleming & his Michaelhouse team went on to claim victory by defeating Irish side, Blackrock College 21-19 in the Cup final.
To the Old Boys & parents who were able to make it to Rugby School, your support meant the world!

After challenging Springbok great Bismarck du Plessis to an arm wrestle In the departures terminal at ORT in Johannesburg the team headed to the UK where they visited the Home of English Rugby, Twickenham & meandered through the halls of The World Rugby Museum.
They met former English Captain & World Cup winner, Martin Johnson, visited the Chelsea football ground, Stamford bridge, toured the Natural history Museum, saw Buckingham palace, Trafalgar square, Piccadilly circus & then rode the London Eye.
In celebration of the historic victory at Rugby School, the team were hosted by the Michaelhouse Old Boys Club for a Luncheon at the RAF Club in London.
To finish off the tour, they headed up to Scotland where they travelled to Edinburgh & trained at Fettes College before making their way to the home of golf, St Andrews where the team recreated the opening scene of Chariots of Fire on the famous beach!
