    Playing games = S9+
    Social media = Either
    Taking pictures in the day = either (depends on your preference)
    Taking pictures at low light = P20 pro for sure
    I only use social media and live above the arctic circle (mostly low light) and like taking photos, i will go for the P20 pro. You can always do post processing if you want to change the colours, etc.
    Both are great phones, chose the one who fits you the most.

    The night time pictures are clearly the forté of the P20 Pro. No other smartphone camera can hold a candle at this time, especially with its long exposure (AI assisted) option.

    Awesome camera comparison! They are very close in quality but seems like the P20 pro wins the still shot competition by a slight margin and the S9+ wins the video competition by a slight margin as well. Honestly, you really can't go wrong with either.

    Both are good but if I had to chose a winner, I would probably pick the P20 pro.
    Video - No doubt, S9+ is the clear winner
    Daylight - Some pictures taken with the S9+ are better but I would pick the P20 Pro cuz colors are a bit more vibrant (look at the sky) and some of the pictures are more detailed too
    Low light - P20 pro is better in general (much better in some pictures) cuz I was looking at the ground, walls, texts, traffic and I can defenitely notice that the P20 pro is sharper. The S9+ also is a little bit more blurry if you take a look at the lights and traffic.
    Selfies - I don't know.

      Your shots are way too easy. Interior shots would show it in a different light. Pun intended. P20 pro has a much bigger dynamic range. I had them both. And while the s9+ is good in easy daylight shots, it has problems with different light sources.

    • @Killer007TV
      @Killer007TV 6 років тому

      You didn't mind the over-sharpening processing? Like really, it's ruining P20 Pro's photos. Forums are full of that. The best way would be to use Google camera apk but then you're losing all the extra features. S9+ is more balanced, seriously.

    • @Faildarkness
      @Faildarkness 6 років тому

      This guy has the wrong settings though. Really bad review to be fair, and if you check bigger channels reviews P20 pro is the clear winner because they know what t hey're doing.

    Watched a lot of videos on these two phones and here is my verdict for it -
    1. Galaxy S9+ has superior video quality hands down.
    2. Galaxy S9+ has great natural voice enhancing technology and cuts out background noise nicely.
    3. S9+ can take alright nightmode shots compared to the P20 pro because of the third camera but it's not bad in both phones.
    4. I felt P20 over saturated most pictures and over exposed nightmode shots which can be also set for S9+ in Pro mode.
    5. S9+ has a back finger print tech, infinity screen and no notch (major plus).
    6. S9+ has the best and brightest screen in the smart phone market hands down.
    7. S9+ has a 3500mah battery where as P20 has 4000mah so here P20 takes a slight lead. Also, I am not perfectly satisfied with charging speed tests but as far as many reviews go P20 has also the fastest charging speed.
    8. S9+ has better security and software support.
    9. S9+ has headphone jack.
    10. P20 comes with 128Gb only whereas S9+ comes with 64/128/250GB options (pricier).
    So overall ad a phone I believe S9+ might do wonders but if you are looking only for slight battery improvement and a bit of a night mode picture quality then P20.
    Virtually both are expensive phones so i would prefer S9+.

    P20 pro is way better,for night mode is unbeaten,for zoom as well, for detail as well.You get 92 megapixels in total powered by AI and it has the best pro mode.The camera app is not very easy to use but overall for a person who knows something about photography this is the go to smartphone.For the front camera on p20pro...well it makes the subject look good and does lots of bokeh.

    While it cannot fully replace a DSLR, the P20 Pro stacks up great against e.g. my Panasonic DMC G6. I've just taken it on holiday, and while it's not perfect (the AI can be a bit too invasive), almost every single shot is in focus. The best option for landscapes e.g. I've found to be the "night mode" during daytime. See the comparison:

    Ok, very shaky 4k on the p20 but better colors and sounds for me, for the pictures on daylight, hard to tell, both are way better than any picture I have ever taken, for the night pictures I liked more from the P20 Pro, front facing pictures I think are ok, this time I think the S9 would bñhave kind of better front facing camera.
    Nice video, liked

      Better sound? The sound is so crompressed in the p20pro. Check the video in the street with cars and water in the left. The colors are over saturared, artificial, good in some times but not the real color of the scene.

    Both phones take really good pictures. Daylight pictures from both phones look quite similar. Sometimes the S9+ was better, sometimes the P20 Pro was better. Video recording from both are also nearly the same. The audio from the P20 Pro seems clearer while it sounds richer on the S9+. However, the P20 Pro definitely wins for low-light pictures. The front-facing cameras from both devices capture photos that are kind of decent though. Thanks for this great comparison video!

    iPhone and DSLR user here. The Galaxy s9 has the superior camera system overall. It’s more color-accurate, and the detail level in natural lighting conditions is superior. In low light, the P20 has too much artificial sharpening. And the front facing selfie camera is just more color and contrast accurate on the S9. The s9 is a more advanced camera because it has more powerful software and processing power than the P20.
    Yeah the p20 has a 3x telephoto zoom but that’s just adding bells and whistles to a Mitsubishi sports car and saying that it’s now way better than a Tesla Roadster

      How is P20 better? The 4k is absolutely is most cases useless.
      Second the over saturation of color in daylight in P20 is a no.
      Sound in P20 is not clear and noise cancellation is bad where as in S9+ you can hear voice much better and background noise is cancelled considerably.

    No one really talking about how soft some of the P20's shots are? See the crops... S9+ preserves detail where P20's software oversharpens the texture and leaves it dull.
    P20 Pro' camera's hardware is superior, however the software brings it down and at these conditions S9+ is more reliable. Not more powerful, but definitely more reliable and balanced.

    • @Tippotipo

      Night mode is nothing special really.Basically a combination of four pictures in possibly blending mode taken in 4 seconds with a drawback of inadvertently creating a stroboscopic effect on moving objects like pendulum.
      The equivalent for S9 Plus is to set the shutter speed for 4 seconds with f1.5 aperture and a steady position as possible or using a tripod.

    No phone is perfect. Huawei P20 pro best for taking pictures and definitely not 4k video. Samsung S9+ best for 4k video but day light pictures is not bad but could use some work for night shot. This is all come down to each person own reference. Huawei's camera have more features than Samsung especially with light painting mode (every flagship phone should have this feature). Other than that both phone are a great phone until the next flagship smartphones is coming out in early 2019.

    video colours seem over saturated on p20 and more natural on s9?

  • @alexmunteanu6132
    @alexmunteanu6132 6 років тому

    You know that if you had used the P20 Pro's night mode option for the night shots, it would have obliterated the S9+ in any single way :) The only flaw in Huawei's camera is the 4K stabilisation on video, but not everyone is shooting in 4K and, as you said, you can buy a device that helps you with that.

    First of all thank you again Alex for another perfect comparison. Although the images on the P20 pro are a bit sharper and slightly unrealistic, they provide such decent detail. Comparing the night time pictures s9+ covered the p20 pro's back with just a couple of pictures. Until now the p20 has the lead. When it comes to video recording the image stabilization on the s9+ is a plus, however i don't see myself recording in 4k with eis on a smart phone, that's an action camera job. For the quality of the images by the front cam, it's garbage on the majority of the phones out there :D .

    • @RedskullPro
      @RedskullPro  6 років тому +2

      yeah, 4K files are super big and not realistic to record with a phone

    I have a Samsung s9+ best phone I've ever had! (had a s7 before that, and I thought that was a great phone!) I think p20 pro have nice colors in some pictures, think both take great pictures! But I am a Samsung person all the way. But I really like p20s color twilight, love purple and green!

    In daytime they are neck and neck, but details generally looks better on S9+ hanks to stronger sharpening (more sharpening halo is visible around the edges of a subject). On the other hand P20 Pro's photos look softer but retains mostly the same amount of details. Dynamic range is also better on S9+, though sometimes the contrast is way too low and it's losing a lot of details in the clouds and bricks as you can tell at 5:54. P20 Pro occasionally underexposes the whole scene though.
    In low-light, P20 Pro seems to be retaining far more details in the shadows while also keeping highlights in check, whereas S9+ strongly crushes dark areas in order to hide the noises and completely ignores bright sections of the photos, resulting in very smartphone-like images. However they still look very decent compared to something like iPhone X.
    For me S9+ is an overall winner when everything (video and selfie performance included) is being considered, but I found P20 Pro's still camera more attractive, but hey it's just me.
