Something that I really like about modded bosses like this one is that the attacks are more unique than the base game, it’s not just “oh now the attacks are even faster than before”
Ye, that's what I loved about Any Radiance even since 1.0. I've seen videos of something like Atomic Radiance or whatever, but it didn't do much other than just add more stuff and make it faster. Any Radiance was so unique that it pushed the players towards discovery of baldur shell strats to avoid unavoidable damage.
yea all of the mechanics with this one are done amazingly. its just the fact that theyre also done to the lowest degree of possibility. this is how you make a boss on the precipice of human ability and i love that because this should be the final evolution of the radiance at this point. i know phase 1 can be cheesed but even so the sheer luck and skill involved even with that to beat it overall would be unbelievable. interested to see where everything goes from here.
@@limonlx7182 Any radiance 1.0 didn't add any new stuff, it just added more waves and faster spawns of existing attacks. Any radiance 1.0 was well designed (at least in hindsight) since there was real skillful counterplay to its attacks, but it didn't add new mechanics like 3.0 does
@@Bladieblah it did change quite a lot tho. During the laser attack, lasers usually fire 3 separate times, one after the other. In 1.0 it was changed, so that all lasers stay until the attack is finished. Both beam wall and spike wall attacks used to go from one direction, in 1.0 they come from both sides. And obviously, the climb phase was just a joke, and the laser is supposedly unavoidable. That's when the baldur shell strat was 1st invented. Compared to other fanmade Radiance fights, 1.0 was a very unique one.

I like how at this point it doesn't feel like an immensely powerful entity fighting you at their best. It now feels like a god who is toying with you. Giving you barely enough room to dodge each attack on purpose, taunting you with the fact that you cannot beat it.
This boss battle makes the nameless king from Dark souls 3 look like the worm you'd put on the hook just to get radiance to show itself... this is absolutely insane and I love it Edit: bruh it took me ages to beat nameless king 😭 am I just the only one here that isn't built different in a good way??? @Veneficia beating the phases individually still doesn't even come close to beating the fight as a whole, as there's no opportunity to recover health and even if you clear each phase with enough health to spare for a theoretical full run, getting that actual run is something else entirely. Like if you have a ~1% chance to get one of the three hard phase good enough, across 3 phases that's a 1 in 1000000 run to do. And I don't think 1% is an unreasonable number to go off given that the attacks and patterns do not seem consistently dodgeable in the slightest
Having to whack the ball back and forth to damage the boss is actually quite a cool mechanic. I would love to see it implemented in a boss meant to be beaten
I feel like this boss is all my fault and I am immensely proud of it. This is everything I hoped for when I started 2.0. Also the first phase I did radiant because of a glitch with the BV dash. I'll be uploading that soon. Climb and final was done. Rn plats is the big big big issue. That beam star is just... yeesh.
@@pyrek9154 me and zZera have done it but those phases make up about 10% of the difficulty of the fight. Plats is so so so hard it makes up the other 90% of the difficulty of the boss.
He’s never “winning” the war. Unless silksong comes out, this will just be an endless stalemate as the community delves into insanity trying to beat this boss. Never say something is impossible, because unless a TAS is unable to beat it, the community eventually will.

I’m not familiar enough with the Hollow Knight speed running community to say that isn’t true for it, but in general there are definitely alot of TAS’ that are humanly impossible (and never will be) because they require more button presses in a single second than we can perform. For examples look into the Super Mario bros franchise
I know why he made final phase that easy. It's because when someone kill the boss (there is now first phase complete) he can just make stantard orbs, but faster and spikes around arena, so you can't attack radiance from up. And he can add the hardest attacks from all of any radiances and Any Radiance 4.0 is made
The second phase's mechanics are actually really cool and if tuned back to a reasonable level could actually end up proving to be a really cool fight. Might need to split them up to make it fair though. Other than that, seeing just a TAS of the full thing would be a treat to watch. Love that Bob Fred created this.
I literally burst into laughter when fire talked about dodging the sword walk and when he said “and I am proud of that” because I beat normal radiance after to long or trying and the feeling he got dodging that one attack is how I felt beating true ending! God made my day
The beam ball should stay in the last phase. Wouldn't be hard to program it and it would bring the last phase much closer to the difficulty of the other phases.
@@dancer2234 its phase 2 actually, iirc correctly there's a strat in phase 1 that allows you to effectively freeze the boss which makes it a breeze to get through
One thing that might exist is a tell. The swords in first phase are always on the same level, so you can shadow-dodge one then dodge the other. Of course, this is a maybe since at low HP their level changes by 1. Also, at 6:05 Phase 2, Any Radiance teleported into the warp, and so ended up somewhere else. At 5:34, the five-pronged light also teleports through it. I'd assume the same could be done for any other projectile. 4:44 also showcases an interesting quirk to the portals. In that you can actually see where it leads.... Checking back at the projectile teleport, it is possible to guess where it will take you. Black portals are located low(correction down below, they likely lead to Radiance), exit points while image portals lead higher. If you look at 4:40 before Any Radiance obscures it with their light, you can see it's exit point is at a pillar. That isn't a refraction of the pillar it's in front of, but it's exit point as seen when Fireborn ends up going through it. Looking back at the projectile teleport, the portal shows a tower top obscured by clouds. In that regard, you need supreme environmental awareness to take advantage of them, but it can be done. You could even send the projectile through them intentionally... 4:50, and the first portal in the fight. Are the Black Portals a result of the Radiance being nearby their exit point? That time link shows that it's extremely faded during the second it can be seen, and then it turns black when the radiance teleports in front of it at 4:52. Ell, you can see the radiance's rings through the faded portals too. Rather than chasing the Radiance, your goal should be waiting for a chance to chuck the projectile through the portals. Not only does it free up movement space, you got a good shot at dealing damage. Ironically, the Climb is probably the hardest part of the fight. You have to get through both previous phases, which means your HP is low enough a mistake could cost you the entire fight. And those platforms appear way far from each other, or right next to each other. Neither is good given the light. Might be worth trying to get that thing down below the bottom of the second phase and then climb like your life depends on it. (Slugs might be most useful. Does it count to push the projectile? As they fall they can free up time if they do, though your soul is limited. Their multi-hit nature would be a bit silly if they do.) Wouldn't mind seeing some infinite hp testing to see if these theories are correct.
My first observation is that the sword wall attack in the beginning is impossible to have enough time to even be able to fall down to the gap most of the time since it is in a random location. You could easily dodge it by dodging away from the second set of sword to buy yourself enough time to get a second shade cloak and dodge back through that second pass!

Phase 2 is actually a really interesting concept for a boss. I would love to play a version of if it that isn't absolutely insane and player-hating.

the time i spent on just regular radiance, this would be a bucket list boss battle for me
