Atmosphere and design caught my eye so I decided to give chance those story fighting games because it looks really cool so I tried and died ... a lot. Around 7 times in train station. When I finally managed to get to circus boss I felt my journey is over. So I am glad I can enjoy story of this game at least like this. As casual card game player I feel bit bad that I can't even finish second level.

Also that ending with dorothy are they planning to make a series of games based on old childrens books first pinnochio now wizard of oz ok now im definetely curious about the future.
So i finally finished this after almost 100 hours. I know its mostly a skill issue but the Nameless Puppet especially made me question my life choices. How is it that it looks so easy here, i pulled every clutch i had and it still took me 90 tries. And even when i finally beat him, it was by luck. I should have given him the heart to spare myself the final ass kicking.
YALL... the song that plays before the king of puppets fight is the waltz from Coppelia, a ballet about a doll "coming to life" I'm telling you this game's references are seriously top notch

The fight mechanism in this game looks very awkward and clunky. Them monster designs loook cool. It's an EXTREMELY slow burn game, from the talking to the combat to mundane things like even running. Watch it x1.5 speed it really helps
The original story was written in 1883. By carlo collodi. Many of Walter Disneys flagships were based on already made ips. U can do whatever u want just not make the art like Disney.
I think a few side quests are missed which will reveal the "true ending" A dying lady given a doll and told it's her missing baby. Tell her it's cute. A man married to a puppet and tell him she loved him back. (It comes true later) A dying boy wanting to play with the police bot Murphey (Robocop reference!) Find the shrine and blow his whistle near the boy. A woman named Belle is looking for her partner. Find him and tell her he died a hero (Beauty and the Beast reference) Find the riddle master and kill him (He killed Venigni's family) Pray to the angel statue. When P first meets Spring, the cat hisses. After the hair grows, it lets P pet it. Listen to as much music as possible. Not just to hear the soundtrack, but it builds humanity points. Do these and after freeing Sophia, P's hair turns gray, showing his maturity and humanity. The heart starts pounding after every "lie". P can then hold Spring! Then the true ending happens! Also notice when the branch grows from Carlo's picture, P's shadow has the same feature in the Stargazer light.
Beautiful game. It looks fantastic. The story is very interesting, kind of reminds me of Bloodborne. Haven't finished watching the playthrough. My braincells are so burned by NieR, I thought that Romeo, King of Puppets looks a lot like Nier...
This seemed like a JRPG in all but animation style The animation was good, the storyline was ok but weird. I do appreciate new takes on classic tales. Curious if at the end that means this is part of a series? If so I think I'll pass on the others lol. Thanks as always @GLP!! 🐧
Well, apparently the character you play is not Pinocchio but just another puppet of Geppeto. The puppet that Gepetto use at the end would be Pinocchio. There are theories that you are also in fact the tin man from Wizard of Oz.

i breezed through to the first battle with the black rabbit gang and after that, i think i got bored and decided to watch this... the gameplay is not the focus of these videos i know but this one had quite a lot of combat sections in it and it felt like the player of this run used a trainer or something as there is not way one can play this game in such dull and bored mannner which explains the ultra high stats and lack of variety.

I had to use cheats, I died in train station over 20 times, but didn't want to quit game, but to finish it
I think this is meant to be a spiritual successor to American McGee's Alice, but with a different gameplay genre.
I was thinking actually similar game play but this is definately giving AMA 2 gorgeous.
I would really love to see a crossover of them

I wish there was a way to swing the camera around a bit during dialogue scenes so we could see who's talking instead of the back of P's head.
