I had a bunch of success this past year with this bait on the rivers for smallies. One technique I don't ever hear anyone mention with this lure is the I-Motion. I had a day on Beltzville where I could not get anything to commit. I could see fish but nothing. I started throwing this just throw it out and straight steady slow retrieve, imparting no action and I could get bit. I didn't catch anything real big but it was still good to get bit.
I bought one of these on Dec 27, 2021. I have not yet fished it. You gave me the inspiration to start throwing it. The bad side of them is the price tag. They are pretty expensive unless the price has dropped. I paid $17.99 plus tax, way back then. The action is what drew me to them in the first place. I don't know why I have not tried to throw it. I am sure it will catch just about anything. It would be awesome if they made it in about a 4in version.
Fished a Karashi for the first time yesterday. Caught a one pounder on it. It blew up on it 6’ from the bank. I had it tied straight braid to bait and didn’t get the action I was expecting. I will be adding a flouro leader next time, and probably a loop knot. I will say I was surprised how well it casts considering it is only 4.6 grams.
What was the rod, reel, and line setup you were using in the on the pond part of this video? I'd like to hear the results of your carolina rig test too - that sounded interesting
It was a Dobyn ultra light BFS rod with a Shimano Curado BFS reel. I used 8 lb test braid with a 6 lb test mono leader. I have not yet tried it with a C rig or split shot. I will report back on the channel when I do.
Denny All of your top water Tuesday lures are either very expensive or difficult to find. Can you add some average Joe (me) lures that are readily available and won't break the bank to your Topwater Tuesdays? I'm sure they all work fine it's just I'd like to see some stuff on things I've already got in my tackle box. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Thanks
Hi John, I have been doing Topwater Tuesday for a year and a half now and lately I have been on a bait finesse kick which features more expensive baits and before that I was doing baits that have been discontinued. However, I have done them on nearly all the conventional topwaters during this time. I have been wanting to do a video on a tour of my channel which will show users how to navigate the channel and find videos they may be interested in but my time has been limited lately. Until I make that video, if you search on my channel and hit "playlist" then select "topwater", all of my Topwater Tuesday videos will appear for you to view. I think you will find plenty of available and affordable baits there. Thanks for watching.

Excellent idea for when the bite is tough. I will have to remember this when I get ready to pull out the spy bait.
thanks for topwater tuesday love them keep them coming. that kurashi looks interesting.
You bet
The Karashi is currently my favorite bait to throw on BFS.
One of mine too!
Been waitin on one to come from Japan.

I think they do make a 70mm version but I agree a 4 inch model would be perfect if it works the same way. Thanks for watching.
Glad to see you're pitching the karashi. Which color are you showing here?

It's a great little bait!
By the way, I just added a few more to my BFS bag. They were on sale yesterday at TW

First thing I do is change/upgrade those hooks to Aaron Martin Nano Gamakatsu short shank size 6
Yes! Hooks are always a challenge on the small baits.
@@fishden365 especially if you get a nice fish and it’s hooked on the “Outside of the face that’s my biggest concern always
Hey what knot to you recommend for the Karashi ?
Great question Kevin. I use a very tiny snap and tie a palomar to the snap. If I was not using a snap I would add a split ring or tie a loop knot.
Absolutely one of my favorite baits. I put a lead strip on the bottom to get it to sink faster and get to the depth I want to fish.
Great idea!
The only thing I don't like about them is every color has the same tail. They should have matched the tail to the bait.
My thoughts exactly. Totally agree. Also, I like feathers better than tinsel.
$17.99 c'mon Megaba$$! I'll bet anyone $100 I'll catch just as many bass twitching a $7 floating rapala with a feathered treble on the back.🤣🤣🤣
The Floating Rapala catches tons of fish but it can't do what the Karashi does in how it behaves in the water. Each bait has their day.
@@fishden365 I'll shave the lip down and add some sticky weight and do my world famous jiggy-twitches and BOOM! GOT EM!😎
Now you're talking!
This bait is not new... 😅
Crappie slayer
Yep, I have caught them on it too.
