Cyborg was one of my favourite movies when I was a kid. Its a thrilling sci fi action suspense horror movie with a scary villain and set in a dystiopian Mad Max style world. A must see for martial arts fans and Van Damme fans.
I agree with you.
Agreed. Imagine how proud I was when I was six years old and discovered that he was a Belgian to. Van damme, Stallone, Schwarzenegger I mean the 80's and 90s were a kids dream when it came to action movies.
One of Van Damme's best yet most underrated movies. Love the whole dark ambience of the movie.
Mister Hindi underrated yeah totally I saw this movie and begged when I was 6 yrs old too see it. My father and mother agreed watched it after 33 years later still good love me some Brussels with the muscles I like death warrant too now than pic I saw in the theaters with my mom when I was 8 awesome movie especially him going too jail being under cover cop
This movie is shit.
:)
It's literally my fave JCVD flick of all time💯 I pretty much like all his work👍 but this one is tops hands down
My best movie
One of the many things that I loved about this movie was how it legit feels like an
Apocalyptic wasteland in every scene. The unsettling music most definitely adds to the vibe. You can just imagine dozens of little gangs like this scattered around out there waiting for people like this to come by. Love this movie.
100% agree, small gangs like this would be rife after societal collapse, we would revert back to a feudal system very every quickly.
:)
@@v1per187 All excellent and plausible observations here and I agree. The unsettling music with that chilling waterphone instrument really makes this scene and adds a keen layer to this foreboding environment that Gibson and Nady are traveling in. The desperation and run down reality would spawn many gangs for sure. In addition, this particular gang of bandits is creepier looking that Fender's gang with their stocking netted type masks over their heads.
@@babymammoth34 This particular gang is called "bandits" in the credits. Fender's gang are called "pirates", and a lot of them wear clothing which is characteristic of pirates from movies set in old times, whereas these men wear military clothing, which, coupled with their tactics, strongly hints at them possibly being ex-soldiers, a military unit-turned-gang.
Most of them wear either Ro-Search Vietnam-era leather boots or jungle boots with panama soles, although the gasmask bandit's boots have the 3rd pattern Vibram soles, while the bandit Gibson slams into a column wears what appear to be low-top, Navy "Boondocker" boots.
They wear BDU-style trousers in either Woodland; the newer, commercially available, black-and-dark-brown Tiger Stripe or Chocolate chip Desert camo (which fits incredibly well in the brown leaves outside and the dusty, pebble-covered floors of the building), but the bandit that Gibson slams into the column wears "OG", Vietnam-era pants, tee and cap.
Their T-shirts are in either military colors, camo (as seen on the bandit armed with a chain and a flail, he has a Woodland T-shirt), or commercial colors that work as military colors (the bandit with a red backpack and the one Gibson kicks out of the building, whose equipment looks almost identical, likely being the same costume or possibly even portrayed by the same actor, wear charcoal gray T-shirts, which is a logical choice - the gray could blend well with walls while the desert pants work well with dust and dry leaves).
Some of them wear SRU mesh pilot vests, Vietnam-era butt packs, "Alice" or M56 canteens, M1955 flak vests; the bandit with the crossbow in the building (the one that mysteriously vanishes) wears what appears like olive drab PASGT body armor; the bandit wearing a helmet has what appears to be an M1945 field pack; the bandit with the gray t-shirt in the building has what appears to be Italian 1937-pattern webgear (meant for carrying BM59 magazines, easily distinguished by its British counterpart by its brown leather straps), while the bandit with the "OG" green outfit has a ChiCom (Chinese Communist) mag pouch chest rig, worn on his back like a tactical backpack of sorts. The bandit with a crossbow that Gibson throws to the ground and snaps the neck of has a red, civilian backpack that has been dirtied to give it a semi camouflaged look, which, if it faded a little more, could turn into a brick-like hue of red, suitable for urban environments.
One of the two bandits rappelling from the roof and the one with the bow running outside, the one Gibson slams into a tree, wear Vietnam-era, ripstop fatigue shirts (judging by the slanted chest pockets).
They're armed with bows, crossbows, bayonets, military knives or commercially-available blades for the most part, like the M9 bayonet, the M5 bayonet (used by the bandit with the boonie hat), an EK 44 dagger (on the right leg of the bandit outside with a bow, though it's barely visible under the fatigue shirt), a Buckmaster 184 (on the right leg of the chain bandit, though it's most likely a knock-off or a prop, as these were rare even back in the day), a Gerber knife, likely a Mark 2 dagger, like the one Bishop from "Aliens" uses in his knife game (seen in an M10 sheath on the left leg of the bandit wearing a fatigue shirt who rappels), a Fairbairn-Sykes dagger (the gasmask bandit pulls it out of its sheath on his left ankle and attempts to stab Nady with it after he hits her and she falls to the floor), and a ton of Al Mar stuff, like a Shadow 4 dagger (in the right hand of the bandit with the gray shirt in the building), a Shugoto (on the belt of the "OG" gear bandit) and what appears to be a Tanken (on the belt of the bandit with the helmet).
The net masks are not something custom sewn for the movie, but an actual, real piece of gear used by hunters and soldiers. They're called Spandoflage masks, net masks meant to cover the face that are more breathable than, say, balaclavas. The thick masks worn by the bandit with a boonie hat and the one with the crossbow in the building are commercially available, hunting, cold weather neoprene masks.
Some of them wear military neckerchiefs (made from the same material as a T-shirt) in either green or brown, while the two bandits with gray shirts both wear sheer, thin, see-through scarves, kinda like the ones many civilian women wear, made out of cashmere or polymer mimicking the texture of cashmere, in a green shade that's not meant as a military color, but works well enough.
The bandit with the chain and flail wears a Woodland-camo, BDU-style patrol cap, though it was probably purchased on the civilian market or modified, as it has a diamond-shaped Bolivian flag (red, yellow and green, top-to-bottom) patch, with a black star over the yellow, on the forehead; the two bandits with the gray shirts wear South African "Kiko" swallowtail caps; the guy with a boonie hat has his in what appears to be Woodland, though it's very hard to tell as it's very faded and it's almost the same color throughout, while the gasmask bandit wears what's either a German Dräger Simplex, or its Israeli copy, the Shalon Model 4 (I'm leaning towards the latter, due to the brown hue of the rubber. I've seen brownish Model 4s, but all Simplex gas masks I've seen have a tar black rubber), although that's a pretty impractical choice - the bandit must be wearing it to both conceal his face and as a scare factor, but wearing a gasmask, without a filter, in an area where there's no gas, has more cons than pros, as it hinders both breathing and eyesight. The bandit with a helmet wears an M1 model.
On their arms, they have what appear to be silk knit gloves, as worn by civilian women with evening gowns, with makeshift fingerless gloves or gauntlets/braces over the wrists, for protection.
I find this fascinating, not only because the actors' costumes are cheap, apparently purchased mostly from surplus stores, which is not only great for a low-budget movie like "Cyborg", but this is something you'd realistically expect bandits in a post-Apocalyptic setting to dress like. A mix of military, commercial tactical, hunting and civilian gear. The guy with the red backpack probably dug it out of some dumpster and attempted to turn what was once a plain civilian school or tourist backpack into a piece of combat gear to carry supplies in, dirtying it to give it a camouflaged look. Long, knit gloves that would otherwise be used as a fashion accessory by ladies in fancy gowns, used by men in a woodland setting to both protect and camouflage their arms.
And their faces are just...unsettling to look at. They look like the bum character from "Mulholland Drive". You look at them and you can't tell how much of it is war paint (the flail bandit has a grayish pattern painted on his face), their faces being merely dirty, or skin conditions like necrosis, for example. When Gibson rams the "OG" gear bandit into the column, you can see a close-up of the man's face. There are 2 holes in his mask where the right cheek is, and the skin underneath looks shriveled up and ruined, which makes sense. There's a plague in this world, and it's likely some if not all of these bandits are infected, their masks probably keep their faces together as much as camouflaging them. They look like something between human versions of those unsettling puppets in stop-motion films (like the music video of Tool's song, "Sober", or the Brothers Quay "Street Of Crocodiles" movie it draws heavy inspiration from), and zombies. They look somewhat human, but not quite. And what they really are, are stuntmen wearing low-budget costumes and makeup. It's amazing in its grounded simplicity.
I'm sorry if I got carried away in explaining, to the point of being annoying, but this is one of my favorite scenes of all times. I could write a book about these guys and their costumes and gear alone.
@@petervitkov361Jeezus Christ write a whole damn book in the comments why don't ya. I always considered these guys a militia type group/gang. They weren't pirates as defined in the movie.
A movie that lives rent free in my head all the time. Super amazing.
Anyone else wanted a pair of boots like Van Damme 😂??
Fuckin right! Especially with the shank that pops out of it!!
My favorite thing about this movie is how minimalist it is. Not just by design, but it seems like a VERY low budget and they used it to their advantage. Used old abandoned buildings, shores of water, etc that cost nothing but add so much substance. They used what little they had with master ingenuity.
This is an excellent point. I read the best approach to low budget filmmaking to take note of what you have available to you and then craft a movie around it, instead of coming up with an idea and then trying to shoehorn it into things you can't afford.
I like how all girls now do plastic surgery to look like Nady, while her she just naturally looks like this.
😮😢😢😮
Just that one kick he did with the knife in his boot was the kick that made me watch this movie. I could repeat it over and over
The editing for this fight sequence is so good. So many cuts, but it flows naturally.
Except the pirate with the long hair and the crossbow vanishes. I guess he ran away off screen.
It's shit. Cuts all over and most don;'tmake sense.
@@Raider1377 the MPAA gave this movie an "X" (NC 17) rating which caused the film violence to be edited. Which also means when van was fighting the bad guy it was probably cut due it being graphic?
:)
I freaking love this movie I got two copies of the movie just to make sure I can always be able to watch it!
I got 5
@@David-vg8lx damn that's very commendable😀👍
Cyborg is Van Damme's 'Road Warrior' no time to talk much just kick ass
Terrific Van Damm film. The apocalyptic sense and horror of nilism with Fender and his freak army. But still hope and humanity with other people. The limitless power of life and beauty of combat and people working together to survive. The idea of Fender becoming a meta monster. Low budget cult masterpiece.
In the context of the movie these dudes weren't really a pirate gang but more so a militia/survivalist group. Great scene, one of the best in the film.
They were Negan before Negan
Watched the movie on VHS Release when i was a Kid...
Still my Most favorite movie with Van Damme.
Followed by bloodsport, No Retreat No surrender and Universal soldier.
Lionheart & double impact
This was my favorite scene from the movie! 🍿🎥
This location was amazing. Sadly it was torn down. Live about 6 mins away from it
I remember seeing the trailer for this before it was released and it looked like the best movie ever. Seeing this in theaters for the first time was even better. At the time, this scene was intense! Seeing this now, 25 years later? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I honestly do not care what anyone says I absolutely love this film. Extremely low budget but they got the feel of post apocalyptic world perfectly. Van Damme in his absolute prime fighting wises. He incredible cool in this film. Scary bad guy. Highly underrated movie.
Brother, this movie i Van Damme's best. Scary, great fighting sequence, score etc
GREAT SCENE!
Got to love the sound effects
They need to bring back the sound affects on these action movies fr fr
The boot with a blade is amazing to me.
It has since been stolen by "The Dark Knight" and "Salt" but they'll never admit getting inspired from this
@@mg19cal it has been used in movies even before Cyborg.
@@mistermindahenziandalasnus3754 I was but a wee lad when Cyborg came out so you'll have to indulge me on the movies that showed this prior. Which, if true, even exacerbates the fact that it was unoriginal in "Salt" and "The Dark Knight"
@@mg19cal understood, but not much is original anymore, really.
@@mistermindahenziandalasnus3754 true. Although, now that I think about it, maybe Angelina Jolie *WOULD* in fact admit to being inspired by this, since she was in "Cyborg 2"😎
this movie gave me so much nightmares I LOVE IT
The music in this and other scenes, in particular, is SO Creepy and On Edge!!
For me IS the best movie of JC vandame of all time
One of my favorite movies as a kid. & unlike some, it actually holds up. I like how no one talks. Not like some unrealistic drawn out the walking dead cartoonish nonsense where all the goons get to be "characters" before they die
A movie that never grow old
i dn't care what they say,, this has to be the 80's BEST movie,, nonstop action, little dialogue, great music, the best
One of my favorite scenes. I love this movie
I saw it in theaters back when it 1st came out. Jean-Claude did some major Van Damme-age in it.😂lol
@@michaelvaughn8864 wow! It must have been awesome
@@fornos123 It was awesome on the big screen, sir. Almost nonstop action at its best
@@michaelvaughn8864 I bet.
@@michaelvaughn8864 Me as well! I was a sophomore in college when I went out to watch this in the theater. Amazing, badass experience! Some of the audience got revved up and so into the fight scenes! It was awesome.
2:34 this part when his fighting these two guyz the combo finishing move 👌
Great movie. One of my favorite back in the 80s. I wanna buy on bluray.
this is by far the best fighting scene in movie history...
So these guys killed the kid with the ball and were possibly eating him in the uncut version. Which is why Gibson even went there....pure rage.
Seems more like a horror movie, but without the classic elements of horror.
Even when the sun shines that world seems dark and scary.
There's an uncut version of this movie?
@@mg19cal Yes, it's called "Slinger", I believe.
Perfect 👏
Love this film
Van damme fear nobody I love this actor especially with that bicycle kick😄😄
Love this film!
Van damme tenia que ser para ser buena esta pelicula
Classic scene
Great scene!
You just don't see this kind of fight scenes in action movies anymore.
My movie, love this film so much.
THE BEST FROM
Van Damme !!!!
💪💪💪💥💥💥😇👍
BOOM last gut goes down hard
I love this movie one of the best 80s van Dianne movies
These fight scenes are so inspiring!
My favorite movie ever make it...
Imagine if he came back as a Cyborg Ninja in a sequel 🤔 With his kicks and a sword, would be awesome. Like Gray Fox from Metal Gear Solid
This movie was always a cult classic! Would love to see an animated remake of it as I feel it couldn't be remade any better in live action than it already has been.
In an interesting note. Always felt this movie was the closest thing to an R- rated Double Dragon movie we'd ever get. Pirates = Shadow Warriors. Van Damme with the long blonde hair would be Billy Lee (got killed off screen). Gibson short spikey brown hair would be Jimmy Lee (out for revenge). Mary - Marianne and her younger sister Haley would be Linda. The big pirate thug "Who are they?" / "Hey You!" would be Abobo. An of course Fender would be the Shadow Boss (an so on). As both of the universes seem to tie into one another fairly well. Only difference being is that the game doesn't include any profanity, gore, nor nudity. Anyways.. enough of my ramblings.
Yeah this and the factory fight look like the end of level 2 in Double Dragon 1
Some similarities to the walking dead too. Post apocalyptic zombieesque scenario set in the sweltering American south. Roving bands of bandits and what not.
Kanikasie flm
3:18 She punched him so hard, he took off flying.
That was one hell of a punch lol 😂
1:53 Here JCVD reminds me of Michael biehn from Terminator 1 🔥
Yeah he sure does😆 ready to save the damsel in distress
Van damme fez muito sucesso aqui 🇧🇷

I love this movie
Obviously, these guys had no idea who they were messing with. Badass fight scene.
Van Damme best performance in my opinion

У этого фильма если не в курсе есть режиссёрская версия с дополнительными сценами и другим звуковым рядом.
Très très très fort van damme
Now watching..2021👍💞💞👏👌
I love how this movie glorifies blades.
Humanity was almost gone and what remained descended into savagery, the era of sophisticated weaponry was long gone. Blades were the primary weapons used for killing.
Even Gibson's ranged weapon was apparently firing wood or metal arrows and was using a compressed gas tank... And it looks like it was limited to 4 shots during a fight.
Probably those arrows and the compressed gas were very hard to come by too.
When ammo runs out. Only the best and most skilled fighters thrive ☝️

Is there anyone reading these comments at this account because I see green pirates that are camouflage and most of them are inside of an abandoned building rated to strike and so this slinger and that other woman would have to defend themselves before they get killed by these pirates.
