Regardless of what one thinks we all need to realise that human beings have the ability to make their own choices. You don't have to like it as with many other things but do you and leave people alone.

@@FleurPillager All of the crimes you listed happen outside of one’s own body. I hope you aren’t insinuating that abortion is in a category with murder. Everyone should have governance over their own body. Keeping someone from deciding whether or not they want to grow a human inside their own body is assault in my mind, and considering the birth related mortality rates, possibly murder as well. Not to mention child endangerment due to most children having no health care once they’re born.

I would even add that there are some situations where AFTER the child is born VERY hard decisions can arise about the viability of the baby. My aunt has delivered babies for 40 years in the maternity ward, she can share some pretty humbling stories about what can go wrong.

Hence, your birthdate determines when you qualify as a tax deduction, for school entry, obtaining a driver's license, for voting, drinking, and eligible for SS and Medicare. Furthermore, the Constitution doesn't mention the unborn at all, let alone grant them any rights.
What the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th amendment does say: "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." Abortion bans place women, by accident of their biology, in permanently and irrevocably subordinate positions to the unborn. It gives them a right no other born and breathing person has- a right to force someone else to use their body to keep it alive, and place that woman's health, life and well-being at risk in the process. Taking a way the right to bodily autonomy for women and giving more rights to the unborn, who are not recognized as persons in the first place, is a clear violation of 14A.

A question I have to ask- Why is any guy spreading his sperm around in the first place if he doesn't want to have to support a child? Pregnancy starts with his insemination of the woman and no one forces him to ejaculate. It stands to reason that he would use a condom 100% of the time, have a vasectomy, or remain celibate. I get it, it's easier to blame the woman for being "easy" and irresponsible. I think you need to be reminded that married women face unwanted and crisis pregnancies, not just single women.
If you support forcing pregnant women to give birth because you are "pro-life", then you must also be pro-life for the whole-life, not just when it's still in the womb. That means tracking down deadbeat inseminators and making sure they pay child support, as well as advocating for expansion of government assistance, free child care and preschool, universal health care, etc.- anything that helps support the embryo you want to be incubated and brought into the world.

What the reversal on Roe means is that each state would choose whether or not an abortion could be had and up until when, etc. That is federalism and the intent of our forefathers. Look at it like this, in some states marijuana is legal and in some states it is not. Same thing with abortion. For the view to make it a party line issue is disingenuous and a straight out lie!
There are Republicans who want a federal ban. And TX has a bounty law for women who travel to other states for abortions and some TX cities are implementing laws that their roads can't be traveled on to seek an abortion (unconstitutional). To say it does under Due Process, & Equal Protection is a lie, & a venomous fiction. The ugly, complex, & difficult issue is left back to the States, & the Protectorates to decide exclusively under the 10th Amendment of the US Constitution, where the issue belongs. The 14th Amendment bars racial, ethnic, & religious discrimination by the government, and later to private businesses. Funny you don't mention men in this equation. They are the inseminators after all and jump start a pregnancy. They should be 100% responsible for controlling the spread of their sperm.
God gave us FREE WILL, your choice will determine your fate and if annihilating a life is your thing amidst all the grandiose choices of birth controls out there, such a choice is not immune to its own emotional and mental consequences.
Alyssa is either ignorant about pregnancy and childbirth or pretends to be. It doesn't matter how many social services you offer to support women. Very few women want to go through all the physical changes of pregnancy and birth if they don't want to keep the child.
She ignores a fact that has been pointed out to her before, when women have late term abortions, it's because there is something horribly wrong with the fetus that makes it incompatible with life outside the woman.
Forcing a woman to carry a fetus to term, when it will die shortly after birth is inhumane. That doesn't fall into the categories that Alyssa supports.
And the bans on abortion that have only "life of the mother" exception are causing problems already. Doctors are afraid to act because they are unsure when they can intervene. Not to mention there is a lot of damage a pregnancy can do to a woman's body that doesn't endanger her life.

Republicans won every district that Biden won by 9 points or less in Virginia while running on a 15 week ban, and came close to flipping a few Biden+15 districts in Northern VA.
Difficult to say voters “always reject” pro-life messaging. A 6 week ban likely goes further than many voters wants, but 15 weeks is definitely not a losing issue for the GOP.

The right to an abortion should have never existed. For most of our country’s history, it didn’t exist until the Supreme Court made it up as a privacy right. Being anti-abortion is purely a moral argument, as most policy debates are.
There are truly zero compelling pro-choice arguments. You threw about 6-7 at me, and not one moved the needle even an inch. I’ve heard them all before, and they’re all very weak.
