That song he does about a 16 year old girl getting her license to drive was when he was a teenage sensation of the same age. Hearing a grown man sing it now is perverse but he was supposedly just a kid himself in a boy band.
Привет :) There is quite a lot of Russian music in the series from twenty years ago. For example, “My Clear Light” from 1996 plays, which was performed by Tatyana Bulanova, when meeting with Nina. At one time I was on all radio stations. "It's not easy for me, but whose fault is it? You're far away, I'm alone in the whole world Only the sad moon is high in the sky Do you hear the sigh of the soul, write" (translated part) At the end of 6 minutes a song from 2002 is playing. Jane Air band, from my city by the way, was really surprised. And this is Russian hip-hop, of course I was a punk and didn’t listen to that at that time. In the track, a person basically talks about the fact that he wants to smoke, but he doesn’t have the money for it. In general, there are many interesting references in the series, the same posters. And yes to graffiti, we love graffiti. Now I'll sing something more modern :) "Come on, put away your smile Enlightenment from the face I see you are very happy That's not how it works here, boy. Think right, feel right Heart in the grave, soul in prison This is Russia - Russia for the sad No choice, no change No choice, no change You hurt my feelings Why are you laughing like an asshole? Russia is a temple of melancholy and sadness See you at the courthouse! Think right, feel right Heart in the grave, soul in prison This is Russia - Russia for the sad No choice, no change No choice, no change" (2017 song, punk rock, translated especially for you)
19:05 Oh took me few seconds if he's doing moves to them from the movies, no, he's referencing movies where Russia has a character or or group having the villain side to the movie and also only movies that stick out a Russian guard would know what he means because it's pop culture reference. In being Rocky 4 fights boxer from Soviet Union and Red Dawn some Russia forces with allied forces invade USA through sneaky Canada trail and high school students fight against them in that certain northern area. Not spoiler because the movies are more detailed than How I described them but yeah they have Russians in the movies and America fights them.
Red Dawn is a 1984 film, set in an alternate timeline in which WWIII is fought in the US. When a Soviet-Cuban-Nicaraguan coalition invade the continental US, a group of high schoolers flee to the mountains, then fight back as guerillas. There was 2012 remake, but that's not as good. There are also more than 4 Rocky movies, when you include the Creed films as well.
The song Soldier Boy is singing on the tv show was Rapture by Blondie like one of the very first rap songs, sang by a white girl that looked like super model :P
Emma: 'It would be so cool if everyone in the boys got V'd' also Emma: 'Hughie, you're better than this, don't do V, stay in school' I don't really understand Kimiko and Frenchie wanting to refuse Butcher's order yet staying on the team. Violence is the only contribution Kimiko can make.
Great movie but I always thought that the better ending would have made Mills wrath and Somerset envy. The movie kept showing how burnt out and hollow Somerset had become and he was envious of Mills' passion, his blossoming life, his hope and drive. Somerset had none of it
That part with Victoria dosing her daughter is pretty crazy. It's one of those things where it's like, yo, how about bodily autonomy? But at the same time Victoria is terrified that Homelander might hurt or kill her daughter, and now that she's also pushed away Mr. Edgar, her kid is probably the only person in her life that she feels genuine concern and love for. It's also tough because V seems to be totally random in the powers it grants, so there's a chance that her daughter develops a power that still makes her vulnerable to Homelander or perhaps even hurts her in some way. Crazy. The whole Superonic song thing is also kinda funny cause one the one hand it seems creepy but on the other hand, iirc correctly, it's an old hit from when he was in a boy band right? Or is it supposed to be a new song? I guess either way, it sorta reminds me of how old boy bands like New Kids on the Block (many of whom are in their 50s), Backstreet Boys and perhaps eventually NSync have had this resurgence in popularity, and they are also grown ass men singing songs that are ostensibly about teenage girls lol It makes me kinda see that as being a little creepy, but I guess for their fans it's nostalgic to see them have a comeback, so I dunno?
Once the new guy started talking to A-Train in the elevator about the plot, I knew this was all going sideways. No way did A-Train think they could beat Homelander. His only choice was to take this very valuable news straight to him.
Interesting - I had never really taken note of the graffiti before. The first one we see up close is clearly a (pretty good) rendition of Goya's "Saturn Devouring His Son" with Mave as a Saturn. The second shows Homelander as a sort of run-down vampire sucking on a black blob with the Russian coat of arms... don't know if that style is a direct reference to anything.
9:58 I hate both A-train and Deep 😂 no redeeming qualities in either of them. Both huge kiss asses to Homelander, Deep is a rapist and A-train got Supersonic killed and only thinks of himself
oh, Yes! Red Dawn the original is worth a reacton. There's a new remake too, you could reintroduce it to a whole new generation. Definitely look up trailer at least. It's a group of highschool kids in MI after the start of WW3, they just get raided in class one day and have no idea what's going on.
Emme-Red Dawn & Rocky 4 were references to movies where America took on Russia and WON! BTW-I LOVE Stan Edgar as a Villain! I'm not sure if he is better here or as Moff Gideon in Mandalorian! What are YOUR thoughts? See You for Episode 5!
The most badass hamster I've ever seen. Great reaction, Emme! I'm very excited to see the rest of this season with you. Also, I was wondering, since you stram on Twitch, do you have a Discord server as well?
Mr. Milk’s nickname is Mothers Milk. When Emme first heard Butcher mention him, she must’ve misheard “Mothers Milk” as “Mr Milk”. FYI, in the comics, MM has super strength that he got through his mothers breast milk, if I’m remembering correctly.
Naturally. When the Coca-Cola plant was opened in Russia, they gave one guy a try. He replied, “It tastes like Pepsi.” They started making Pepsi back in the Soviet Union, in the 70s, yeah.
Emme: "Looks like I'm gonna have to do a lot of censoring this episode." Me: 😂😂😂 Ohhhhh Just Wait! Hahahaha! Not THIS episode. At least...not the most censoring yet
Its weird that this creepy song about a girl turning 16 so now shes driving him crazy is somehow less creepy than "I'm On Fire by Bruce Springsteen" which sounds so predatory and I dont think ive ever heard anyone call him out on that one. those lyrics are insane.
@@LOSFOUFOUP yea i mean i dont know how old the "hey little girl is your daddy home" is supposed to be in that song.. Though the fact is 16 is the age of consent in many countries and even in half of the US (because we are weird and every state has its own laws) Its just become social accepted that 18 is the more appropriate age and also the 2nd most common. Though each states laws the ages are also different depending on genders involved and even illegal for not just same sex relation ships but you cant even live with a person of the opposite gender if they arent related to or married to you. So technically illegal to move in with your girl friend in some states. Though I heard of a case where a spiteful ex had her ex and new GF brought to court for co-habitation and the judge dismissed it because of it being an outdated law.... but yea.. america is weird lol
a-train's commercial being a direct parody to kendall jenner's commercial took me OUT this episode 💀
Shoutout to jamie the hamster for showing us how it’s gonna kill homelander. Also soldier boy never had a nuclear blast as a power before
Its so good breh😂😂
MM’s “red dawn” and “rocky 4” references is just him referring to both movies with the underlying plot of America vs Russia
When she said she didn't know there were four Rockys I was like 👀 there's legit 9 including the Creeds 😂
..to be fair, I am sure the entire series has been difficult to edit, but you have done a great job.
Love your videos!💕
Thank you so much!

definitely! i agree like it makes more sense when he was singing it that agee but now its like .... oh D:
@@emme You should listen to "Seventeen" by Winger. He was 27 when he wrote it.

Poor Kendal made that commercial somehow thinking it was 1986 lol.

The Boys says no one is truly good and no one is truly bad. Butcher is the exact opposite of Homelander but just as bad as him

Ya, it was a song from his teens, somewhere it's talked about how he doesn't really want to sing it I think?
"Seeing Butcher smile is weird"! Lol

22:08 You've clearly never seen Monty Python's and the Holy Grail, that scene is an homage to The Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog for sure.
2:50 The guy that does these interviews is supposed to be a parody of Tucker Carlson.

About the second one. This may be a reference to the Uncle Sam zombie graffiti. We kind of had those.

Nadia gives her daughter compound V because the daughter has an illness. I don't remember which one.
