I think that was a great design choice by the devs. You get to play in Ancient Egypt, but it's still in a time period when things like the pyramids are ancient themselves.
Literally the first AC game where I felt like I was truly thrown thousands of years back in time, more than 70% of my time was roaming the gorgeous and somehow accurate open world.
God the Egyptian cobras are so cool, deadly and respectable in this game unlike in Odyssey where Alexios just jokes about killing like 10 vipers in 2 seconds without any difficulty.
I actually do know someone who can pull that kind of stunt off. It's difficult and requires a shit-ton of practice for aiming, but it is very much possible.

I just started playing AC Origins last night and I don't understand why there are so many negative comments being made about it. Ubisoft completely rebuilt AC and turned it into a fully realized open world RPG and I think the franchise is all the better for it. I preordered the gold edition because it comes with a season pass for the 2 expansions which includes new areas and not just 1 bonus mission. I'm very happy with Origins. And for those politicizing this game, I say go get a life.

Kirsten Haltman At this point of history Egypt is still ruled by the Ptolemaic dinasty, even if there is a connection with Rome (we are close to civil war between Cleopatra and her brother Ptolemeus), thus the army equipment is still hellenic style. But yeah you are right, Rome is going to conquer Egypt directly in the future and at that point the army equipment will be that of the classical imperial legion.
Yeah I was really hoping she would be the main character and we'd get to control a poisonous snake (somehow) but hopefully Ubi remembers its own lore and will stick to it.

as an Egyptian i would like to inform you Cleopatra is way much closer in time to the moon landing than building the pyramids look it up and we have no camels in Egypt we get them from Sudan just so tourists get the Egyptian experience

They're going from the time of the construction of the great Pyramids (2600 BC) to the game's time period (49 BC). This is probably shown to display the age of the Order of the Ancients and their long vendetta for power.

hey with the release of the Emperor Edition it's considered to be a pretty good game
Rome 1 was great for it's time, but now it's age shows... clunky UI, silly stuff like gigantic germans... ancient egypt when it should be hellenistic egypt for the time frame of the game (something Rome iI got right)...
They didn't make egypt greek cuz there were too many phalanx based factions in the game already.
Agreed, the updated Rome II Is actually very good, arguably one of the best. I just wish they would go back to historic settings and stop with this Warhammer bullshit, I enjoy it, but it doesn't feel the same as invading countries that are/were actually real.
