From BBW, I love so many scents. Fresh Bamboo, Eucalyptus Rain, Palo Santo, Rainforest Gardenia, Cozy Cashmere, Paris Cafe, Sundrenched Linen and Frozen Lake are hoard worthy.
I picked up Paris Cafe. It’s nice to burn during breakfast and has a good throw but it does lack “body” or “soul”. Their fragrances are one dimensional to me. Whereas higher end brands seem to bloom.

The spearmint eucalyptus is a nice fragrance, they have a body wash/bubble bath bottle they sell now and it's got a very nice smell that will definitely calm you.
Eucalyptus Spearmint is still a phenomenal scent from BBW. I discovered it at Christmas time, and loved it so very much. A 1 wick candle in my bathroom is all I need of this scent to be able to smell it throughout my small house. Your video is a very nice explanation of BBW and how the company works. They do have plenty of duds, and they also repackage many of their scents under new names, which I feel is very deceptive. I’m sure you have experienced much negative feedback from subscribers who are devoted fans of BBW, but I think your video was very spot on and I agree with you on everything you said. For what BBW candles cost, I might as well buy a luxury candle...over $32 now! I hate that they use scent names that don't describe the smell of the candle at all OR repackage the same scents over and over with different names. Let me give you some tea I discovered last year: Opal house candles from Target smell better, perform better, and are a fraction of the cost. I don't even bother with BBW anymore, but I've bought a lot of those Target candles 🤣
I’ve been buying luxury candles from Dior lately but they are very pricey. I’m also on the hunt for the passion fruit + amber candle from Opal at Target! Both of those brands put the name of the candles on the vessel which I wish they wouldn’t do! 🕯 🫶🏾
@@DetailedDream You'd probably enjoy their rainbow eucalyptus scent. I was skeptical because I thought it was a name they made up, but it's an actual tree. The scent is so soothing, yet strong without being overbearing.
Just subscribed! I think what’s hard for me is not being able to smell a luxury candle before buying it. That’s why I love watching people like you review them on UA-cam. I so wish Smell o Vision was invented already! I have started buying hand poured candles from local boutiques and craft fairs and enjoy smelling them in person and supporting small businesses. And yes, I love Eucalyptus Spearmint and that’s the one BBW hand sanitizer spray my triplets ALL love.
BBW candles have such better throw, all the high end candles can't even fill a closet with scent, you have to walk up to it and hover over it to get any sense of smell.
Mahogany and Teakwood is my all-time favorite bath and Bodyworks candle. I do not usually buy Bath and Bodyworks candles anymore as I have rerouted my candle criteria. I want to find some more luxury brands that have similar scent percent profiles. There are a few few lectures that I try that I have absolutely loved that. I want to venture out and get many of the companies you’ve talked about. Particularly Trudon, and Facetti to start out. I do have a Trudon room spray and I’m absolutely in love with it and cannot wait to try some other other scent profiles. Give me some leather, oud, Wood, notes, tobacco, tobacco etc. There’s a really good incense company that I like called Flint candle company. They have amazing incense. My favorite is uncle Al’s house, which is a cherry pipe tobacco. It is beautiful. Lingonberry is a stunning mahogany, teakwood, and tart lingonberry scent. Shoe shop is leather, pipe, tobacco, and sawdust. Campground: Frasier fir, northern pine, woodsmoke, summer nights They have other great scents as well but those are my favorite variety from that company. I have yet to try their candles
Happy Sunday Rekeema, Back in the day I used to go to BBW and check the clearance shelf for the Slatkin Candles they were different and more High end to me lol . I do own a few of their candles but for the last 2 years I am making my own Candles and buying a few that you have exposed my interest in. I'm now burning a SO Son ( Diptyque) Candle . Got the Fraggrance oil from Stone Candles using CAC Wax Maryland wax company Loving it🔥🔥🔥 PeAcE
My favorite luxury brand is Diptyque, I was fortunate to work @Lenox Hill Hospital and the Madison Ave. store was a couple blocks away. But, I also like BBW candles, More of the White Barn collection. My current favorite is The Hinoki wood And Lavender candle.
Thanks for the video. I lean every way, if it smells good it’s fine by me. I’m currently into black owned candle makers. Just researching what gem I can find .
That Leather & Brandy, White T-Shirt,In The Stars, and the Coconut & Fresh Cotton are🔥🔥🔥🔥 my favorites will always be Mahogany Intense Teakwood, Seagrass and Sun Soaked Sandalwood! Not to mention Mermaid Lagoon it has a Soleil Blanc vibe too it!.
PartyLite, Illuminations (yeah I am a 90s girl), and BBW candles is were I started out. My aunts threw so many PartyLite parties and the catalogs were at every family event for a decade solid. I stuck with PartyLite because of the consistent scents and them being a soy/paraffin blend. But when ever I could afford it I purchased Illuminations, once they went away in 2006 I turned to artisan candles. I have been trying to avoid paraffin as much as possible and besides artisan or luxury candles it doesn't seem possible. I believe BBW is currently a soy wax blend which consists of: vegetable wax, paraffin wax, and soy wax. Making them a no go for me currently. I really appreciate the detailed information you give Detailed Dream about the wax of these different candles you are reviewing as it isn't always the easiest to find on their websites.
Thank you so much! I wish more brands were more straightforward with the wax type of their candles. Eventually, I think that will change with more brands switching to 100% sustainable ingredients.
Personally, I am glad there is NO B&BW on your channel. I find the brand overspoken of on UA-cam (with valid reasons). It's refreshing not to see them on your channel 😌
Currently burning Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow and Pumpkin Cinnamon bun!! So Scrumptious!! Both throwing great!! Been regularly buying BBW candles since 2014. Def my fave. Altho Kringle is another Fave!!
Bath and Body works have fragrances that I enjoy, but I've recently ditched them because of the wax they use in their candles. I've opted to go with a dye less cleaner wax (Coconut/beeswax/vegan wax and 100% soy) vs paraffin wax. I also no longer use their Wallflower plug-ins as well..due to the chemicals in it. I have chronic sinusitis and could have developed it from all these years of the chemical in some of these candles. Most luxury candles I know use a good grade of wax and do not contain dyes or possibly harmful chemicals as Bath and Body, Slatkin Homeworx, Yankee, DW candles and many other popular non luxury candles. Since I've switched, to cleaner candles I do noticed a difference.
I enjoyed this & appreciate how you articulated why you like what you like. I am the same way with my natural skincare products by black owned businesses… though the ingredients are better than for ex. BBW I love that what I purchase is exclusive & handmade
I want to get into candles I’m moving into my own space pretty soon and I’d like to know the difference between luxury candles and bb&w candles? If I can get so much more for $30 that sounds better but I also do like the feeling of exclusivity as well.
Thank you, Rekeema, for another informative and great video! I never used the Bath & Body works candles as they seem sooo affordable (no exclusivity) and there is definitely no intriguing scents in their line, IMHO. I'd rather spend extra money on Diptyque or Trudon or Mad et Len candles as they have both - nice vessels and great scents. By the way, I started to use the Hestia candle warmer and it's a beast - it mealts the 270g Trudon candle on min in about 10 mins (because of it I have it turned on only for about 15-20 mins)! Crazy. But I'm afraid the candle warmer will destroy the candle's scent - did you experience something similar? Has any of your candles lost its scent because of the candle warmer?
The scents from those 3 brands are definitely top tier! I still love using my warmer. its so good! But a candle will eventually start to lose its scent on the top layer. If I noticed ive been using a certain candle multiple times with the warmer, I would burn it the next time instead of using the warmer. It gives the candle a fresh new top layer of wax.
BBW candles had me in a chokehold too, lol! I swear if I didn't have a home diffuser I'd be plotting for the next candle sale. I do still stack up on the hands soaps though, lol! Now I will buy blacked owned but only one candle because I don't really need it.
I personally am looking for a candle with a resonable price, good scent throw, less toxic ingredients, and has quality burn and scent that stays consistent and clean. I have been having a fall out with BBW candles because they start to give me a headache and just feel nasty breathing them in after a while. Not sure why. Can anyone point me in a good direction? Much appreciated and excited to find my new signature and fav quality scents.
Honestly, who is bath and body works even for anymore? Their mists last 2 minutes, bad reformulations, discontinuing your favorite scent. And the candles that burn fast, uneven, or no throw. With the recent price hike, who are their products even for anymore? Who pays premium prices for poor quality products?
Hi enjoy your content, I am new to BBW and the fragrance community period so I’m still getting my footing here ,Tina Marie sent everyone to check your channel out be blessed.
Love your take on this. Would love for you to go to a Bath & Body Works and smell some of their candles for old times sakes. Would make for an interesting video to see what you think of Eucalyptus Spearmint after all these years
I came on here researching test on BBW candles because I came across a FB post that said they emit harmful chemicals into the air and it sent their air purifier into the red zone, mind you I was already burning a one wick BBW candle that I put out directly after not only because of that but also because I realized that I had been burning it for too long as well. I also wonder how long did she burn hers for for it to send her purifier into the red zone, although she said she had lit other candles and they didn’t produce the same results
Just subscribed intrigued me when you said no soul & Fast fashion . It’s what it feels . They are probably watching your channel because I came through one called rose and leather and another that did have soul. Oddly I can find it online.
1) You got BBW *exactly right*. They specialize on hype and impulse and the high of shopping. Not actual fragrance art. 2) HOWEVER, I disagree your thoughts with luxury candle production. They're just as mass produced. But marketed differently. They manufacture the illusion of thoughtfulness and exclusivity, but in reality, it's still just a surprisingly cheap product churned out in a factory somewhere. In this sense, any environmentally responsible small business would trump any of the so-called big companies, luxury or otherwise.
👌well said! I just went into a BBW store and had no interest in their candles. They were great back then but I have since graduated to other/better brands. Thanks for sharing 😊
I love how you talk and you’re funny. This video just got a new subby ❤ yes some still do have soot (I noticed the more gourmand scents do and candles with dark wax colors) and eucalyptus spearmint is my boyfriends favorite scent and he doesn’t even like smells 😂
BBW candles burn so fast for me. Also, I get mild headaches from them. After watching this channel, I bought quite a few other brands. Now I know what I like, I tend to just buy a select few other brands and stop buying BBW. Tbh, I spend less now than before on candles.
"Luxury" doesn't always mean quality, it can, but usually it just means overpriced for bragging rights and egos sake. I'm all for people spending the money they earned how they want but to state that there is such a stark, insurmountable difference between a "luxury candle" (I snicker to myself every time I hear that term) and a B&BW candle is pushing it--hard. What smells good, smells good and if someone wants to pay more for their "Smells Good" so be it. I'll be just as happy paying less for the same enjoyment. P.S. I also love Bonnie, Queen of the Girl Geeks, she's a real one. ❤
The Slatkin & Co/Henri Bendel candles were top tier at BBW at one point. I dislike the inconsistencies of the burn with terrible wicks of most of their candles and how the cold throw doesn't match the hot throw at times. I've always been eagerly told by sales associates that I can just "return" it if the quality is poor. Don't mind that they have this policy, but I'm not going to gamble everytime I purchase a candle. I was addicted to 'Raspberry Peach Macaron' at one point only for it to be discontinued and repackaged over the years.😒 I think it's now 'Raspberry Mimosa' based on my nose. I understand the marketing/business side of it, but it's frustrating as a slightly picky candle lover. If I do buy BBW, it will almost always be a single wick. Not as many promos on that size throughout the year, but they burn cleaner than the 3-wick.
Ii just got some of their stuff on the buy 3 get 3 free sale. I got 5 things of body wash and a matching cologne. With that the body wash came out to $9 something a bottle. For only 10oz of body wash. That’s crazy. I can get 30oz of Irish spring for $6. I ordered it online. I might return it once it arrives. I didn’t really realize it was only 10oz when I ordered it. I should have looked at the description a little better.
I actually jumped straight into luxury candles lol I love DIPTYQUE. I dunno if there’s a better brand. I have tried Harlem Candle Co which I like and L’or De Seraphine that I don’t like but I always come back to Diptyque. Side bar: I found a cashmere candle by Henri Bendel and Victoria ‘s Secret at an estate sale only to find this brand went out of business during the pandemic and I am SAD. It was such a great scent.
@@kumottakun6089 depends on what you’re into… but I like woody scents so I like Oud and Feu De Bois. If you’re into florals, I like Lys and Figuier. Figuier is mild as a candle but the room spray is addictive, it’s my absolute Fav. I love all the room sprays… my favs being Figuier, Baies, Sapin (seasonal), and Rose. A lot of ppl like the Tuberose candlebut I dunno about that one. I do like Mimosa for the bathroom.
@@kumottakun6089 sapin is very much like Christmas tree but in a luxury way. It’s soo good that I like it even after the holidays. They had another version that I found online that had been discontinued and it’s full size. The one from this past holiday was a small size and it was a tad bit nicer. Definitely love sapin.
BBW candles gave me a big headache, every time I lit them. I don't have this problem with the other candles I purchase, so not sure why this was the case with the BBW candles. I was also duped into thinking their candles are soy wax, but are really a "mix" and I do wonder how much of that mix is actually paraffin. I had to give away all my BBW candles, due to the headaches. Mostly I buy candles from small Etsy businesses now, who use only soy wax and fragrances without the toxic ingredients. I like supporting small businesses. But I also buy some of the candles you introduce on your channel :)
I forgot to mention, I would get headaches while the candles were burning. The ingredients are not good, which is probably how they can continue the types of sales they have.
Great, knowledgeable content, funny and shouting out other creators your audience may enjoy as well. I appreciate that, subscribing for more luxury home fragrance recommendations!
The Mahogany Teakwood & Eucalyptus is the most top tiered candles that BBW, period. Outside of those, the scents are flat. Simply cutesy and gourmand. BBW is for my teenage daughters. BBW doesn’t provide the elevated profile/experience that “I” desire at my age.
First, can we just pause for a while and appreciate this gorgeous man. Damn… Im loving the color harmony of this video. ❤ anyway…totally agree with you with all you said. Id rather spent thousands of cash to a luxurious candles that when i burn i could totally feel where my money goes. Than an easy access, mass produce candles that smells meh to me.
The most luxury smelling candle at BBW is Vanilla Birch i also enjoy The brand Sand And Fog which i am burning now. The way my bank account is set up this is all i can afford
BBW candles are very one dimensional and they mostly smell the same. I have been wanting to step my candle game up for more projection. The amount that BBW charges now, I may as well get more expensive candle brands.

I agree regarding luxury brands, regarding the scent quality!! I prefer Nest and Jo Malone candles.
love nest sicilian orange ...yumm
Mahogany teakwood is my favourite.
BBW candles have such better throw, all the high end candles can't even fill a closet with scent, you have to walk up to it and hover over it to get any sense of smell.
try "NEST" candles good throw better quality than BBW and noot crazy expensive but burn fast.
Campground: Frasier fir, northern pine, woodsmoke, summer nights
They have other great scents as well but those are my favorite variety from that company.
I have yet to try their candles
Happy Sunday Rekeema,
Back in the day I used to go to BBW and check the clearance shelf for the Slatkin Candles they were different and more High end to me lol . I do own a few of their candles but for the last 2 years I am making my own Candles and buying a few that you have exposed my interest in.
I'm now burning a SO Son ( Diptyque) Candle . Got the Fraggrance oil from Stone Candles using CAC Wax Maryland wax company
Loving it🔥🔥🔥
PeAcE
Sorry typo
Do Son Diptyque
My favorite luxury brand is Diptyque, I was fortunate to work @Lenox Hill Hospital and the Madison Ave. store was a couple blocks away. But, I also like BBW candles, More of the White Barn collection. My current favorite is The Hinoki wood And Lavender candle.
I began making my own candles w pure clean coconut soy wax and adding fragrance…amazing!!! I get Pomegranate Noir fragrance and that is my fav one.
Thanks for the video. I lean every way, if it smells good it’s fine by me. I’m currently into black owned candle makers. Just researching what gem I can find .
Aye!! ❤️👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾💯
Why am I so obsessed with your content??? Love the vids
I bought bath and body works candles until I discovered Voluspa. That was my first luxury candle brand, and I have never looked back!
Nest candles for me
@@mj43va I love NEST too!
Currently burning Vanilla Pumpkin Marshmallow and Pumpkin Cinnamon bun!! So Scrumptious!! Both throwing great!! Been regularly buying BBW candles since 2014. Def my fave. Altho Kringle is another Fave!!
I LOVE💕 Voluspa candles too although I wish the throw was a little stronger
I just stumbled upon your channel. Quite interesting because I am a candle LOVER!!
Do you review luxury dupes?
You using a cinema camera? The quality is SO good! LOVED the info you gave us in this video.
Thank you so much!! and its just me and my trusty sony camera lol
This video quality is top tier! Everything looks beautiful on your channel
Oh Art, you are 💯% correct. But... I still burn my some BBW candles because I live in Egypt and it's the best we can get here.
I bought a eucalyptus spearmint hand cream and it's so addicting to smell.
Hi enjoy your content, I am new to BBW and the fragrance community period so I’m still getting my footing here ,Tina Marie sent everyone to check your channel out be blessed.
Thank you so much!
Love your take on this.
Would love for you to go to a Bath & Body Works and smell some of their candles for old times sakes. Would make for an interesting video to see what you think of Eucalyptus Spearmint after all these years
Well a well thought out and presented video, you should have more subscribers
Oddly I can find it online.
so glad to have found you! i love bonnie too 🙌🏼
I am a Bath & Body Works Lover but I love this video ! New Subscriber! I am moving on up to luxury candles . I have quite a few but want more!
Y'all fancy. Diptyque Paris candles are expensive. Not ready to spend $200 per candle yet. But, I have heard for years now that they're really good.
Where do you shop? I would love to know where you buy your shirts at bro
following lol
Is there a similar alternative to the Mahogany Teakwood ? Thanks in advance 🙏🏽 loving these videos !
BBW candles burn so fast for me. Also, I get mild headaches from them. After watching this channel, I bought quite a few other brands. Now I know what I like, I tend to just buy a select few other brands and stop buying BBW. Tbh, I spend less now than before on candles.
I completely agree with you. Its the exclusiveness 🥂🔥
Great video! I’d love to see you review ELOREA vandals candles if you haven’t reviewed them already.
6 minutes in and all you’ve told us is it’s too affordable and easy to find 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
lol
There are some BBW candles that I like, but overall they're pretty basic.
I loved this video!!!
Lmao I was about to say something before you apologized. Love your videos!!
LOL!
I was a BBW candle shopper as well. Once I got your nose on higher quality candles. Some of the BBW scents just sat a little differently.
Nah that BBW acronym got me hollering 😂
My candles almost NEVER soot. I trim the wicks and only burn for about 4 hours at a time
Ii just got some of their stuff on the buy 3 get 3 free sale.
I don't think luxury brands want that much exposure. They have a cult following. They may want to stay exclusive and rare.
Yayy Bonnie I love her I watch her every day!!!!
I like his voice 👌
UA-cam algorithm got me here and I’m loving the content. I had to subscribe 5 videos later. 😂
Mahogany Teakwood Intense is better 😍😉I have a lot of BBW candles but light my higher end on my days off from work to improve the candle experience
Diptyque is another brand thats hard to get away from lol. Their scents are so good!
Can you recommend good diptyque candles pls? Thanks
@@earphbound720 I'm big on woody and foresty scents too! How's sapin like?
@@kumottakun6089 sapin is very much like Christmas tree but in a luxury way. It’s soo good that I like it even after the holidays. They had another version that I found online that had been discontinued and it’s full size. The one from this past holiday was a small size and it was a tad bit nicer. Definitely love sapin.
Pretty sure all bbw scents are now, all synthetic and toxic.
Have u heard of the new jo malone car diffuser it looks so good! Maybe a review on it if u fancy it?
BBW candles gave me a big headache, every time I lit them. I don't have this problem with the other candles I purchase, so not sure why this was the case with the BBW candles. I was also duped into thinking their candles are soy wax, but are really a "mix" and I do wonder how much of that mix is actually paraffin. I had to give away all my BBW candles, due to the headaches. Mostly I buy candles from small Etsy businesses now, who use only soy wax and fragrances without the toxic ingredients. I like supporting small businesses. But I also buy some of the candles you introduce on your channel :)
Have you tried Orleans fragrance company?
also aren't bbw candles very toxic?
I forgot to mention, I would get headaches while the candles were burning. The ingredients are not good, which is probably how they can continue the types of sales they have.
No we don’t. But I held on to, “Santa, Define Naughty” because the name is cute. Gifted and donated the rest. 😊
I do not burn my candles.
I warm them, melt them, make them into wax melts.
It's a solution to both sooting problems and fire hazards.
The most luxury smelling candle at BBW is Vanilla Birch i also enjoy The brand Sand And Fog which i am burning now. The way my bank account is set up this is all i can afford
We need more men that talk about bbw! 😊
Don't blow candles out....tip them over and use the wax to put out the fire...NO SOOTING
I love Nest candles
diptyque better come thru with the sponsorship soon!
I think you would looove Harlem Candle Co
very diplomatic video 😊
i started getting headaches from mahogany teakwood 😢 then i knew i needed to switch it up
Love the dad jokes 😂❤
Candles candles candles that’s it and that’s all
BBW candles are very one dimensional and they mostly smell the same. I have been wanting to step my candle game up for more projection. The amount that BBW charges now, I may as well get more expensive candle brands.
Does anyone know of any good luxury candle companies in San Francisco, Ca?
