    Thanks a lot! My Iwata Eclipse got stuck on "permanent air" two days after I bought it. Upon opening it following your instructions, I found that everything was clean as a whistle, except a tiny piece of dry debris (not paint; it was like an ultra-thin piece of wood or dry leaf or even paper!) that was inside the plunger assembly. I removed it with the needle butt, reassembled the whole thing, and voila, problem fixed! I'd really like to get that tool to facilitate the disassembly of the plunger, but I have only found it in an "Iwata Professional Airbrush Maintenance Tools" kit that sells for a whopping $107. I wish I could buy the tool by itself. (By the way, everybody be aware that this tool is NOT the same as the (typically red) "Iwata-Medea Nozzle Wrench", even though they look superficially similar.)

    I had a sticky trigger on my Iwata eclipse after only 4 or 5 uses...took it apart as per your video and cleaned everything...although I didn't see anything that would have caused the sticky trigger.....everything still looked brand new.....but when I re-assembled....no more sticky trigger....thank you for this great tip video...I took pictures of the parts as they came out to be sure I put it back together correctly....that helps too....thanks again.

    OMG! Thank you!! I use my airbrush for decorating cookies and there are a million videos about cleaning the gun but no one, and I mean no one even gives lip service to the trigger/toggle. I've even bought a new gun because I couldn't figure out how to reassemble with the spring mechanism. I now know all the parts, what they do, and how to clean and reassemble. The perfectly round trigger has a front and back. Who knew?! I can't even tell you how excited I am that as I start the Christmas Cookie season my gun is now working and I know what to do if it gets sticky again! THANK YOU!

    Used a small tweezer to open & close the brass valve plate, as I didn't have an Iwata maintenance kit, and all went very well.

    cheers mate, thanks for the video!. I've followed all steps and cleaned up all pieces, unfortunately, I still have some sticky response when pressing the trigger...It does not spring back up quickly as it should but with a delay. You reckon it may be time to replace the trigger o-ring? (the one which the piston goes through) or maybe the spring in the valve? I'm not sure how to fix my problem. By the way, it is an old Tamiya HG ultra fine 0.2 needle which is actually made by Iwata

Any suggestions?

  • @Kojak0
    @Kojak0 4 роки тому

    I usually do a big clean when I'm done airbrushing and just toss all parts that comes in contact with paint in a jar of paint remover. However, I learned the hard way to remove the spring assembly beforehand since the only reason to why it gets stuck is because it comes in contact with old paint, and in my case, the only way that could happen was by lying in that bath with disolving paint.

    I've got a cheap airbrush and the sticking has recently made it unusable.
    I'd taken the trigger piece out and cleaned the inside of the tube it fits into, it was thick with paint. No idea how.
    But its still sticking, I didn't know you could disassemble the plunger, so my guess I paint has got into there.
    Will try cleaning that out tonight.

    • @AirbrushAsylum

      Yes I know paint goes everywhere...definitely check the plunger assembly, the smallest bit of paint and or dirt and your trigger will stick 😱

      @Cernunnnos 3 роки тому

      @@AirbrushAsylum I took it all apart earlier and have it a thorough clean. Seemed to work fine after that.... for about half an hour.
      Now we're back to square one. 😅
      Thing is, I don't think I've got bad trigger control so I shouldn't be overflooding the chamber. Think my cheap airbrush might just be showing its pedigree.
      What would be your suggestions for a nice mid range option? Ideally under £100.
      I'd probably keep this one just for priming then.

    Do you lube or oil your airbrush and needle at all? I'm just a beginner and want to know the proper methods before I get myself into trouble. Thanks!

    • @shawnald
      @shawnald Рік тому

      NOOOOOO!!!! Learn from me. I read somewhere that "needle juice" was merely gun oil. So I oiled my needle. While I was at it, I took my trigger assembly apart and oiled that. Because? Well, it's a TRIGGER. You oil triggers, right?
      Why am I watching this video? Because I've realized that ****ing gun oil has gummed everything up. The paint mixed with gun oil and became sludge. Huge mistake. I bought all new springs, seals, and a new trigger plunger (seen in this video). Didn't fix the problem. Why? Because there was STILL residual gun oil in the trigger chamber.
      I've cleaned everything in an ultrasonic cleaner. I've scrubbed with alcohol and airbrush cleaning brushes. It works... for a while. Then it doesn't work. I take it apart and... there's that insidious gun oil, still there somehow.
      Don't do it, bro.
