11 Things to Change/Add to Sea of Thieves

- Sea of Thieves is not a perfect game, far from it. But it is super fun and therefore I have a high passion for this magnificent software. So instead of just saying: This part sucks, FIX IT. I am going to try and be more helpful and say: This part sucks, here is how to fix it.

I accidentally AFK farmed when I first started playing.
I was trying to put a power keg on the ship but I didn’t know what button to use in order to drop the chest.
Ended up blowing myself, the crew,
the ship.
Got sent to the brig because of it and I fell asleep from Boredom.
I woke up rich.
Is this still a valid thing? I am new to SOT lol.

I always would have liked some sort of animation when you disconnect. Maybe have skeletons drag you down under the earth, or just the animation you died, i don't care. Just don't... disappear.
Also I want some kind of notification when cremates disappear

Minor lore thing: Merfolk in the Sea of Thieves genuinely enjoy helping pirates who fell off their ship. No one truly knows why, but that's why they smile.
Also lore thing: Merfolk don't reproduce traditionally. They find pirates who want to become Merfolk (usually super friendly pirates), and then wrap their legs in silver, which causes the fins to grow.

I’d love to see a new threat to the seas like a Royal Navy patrolling the seas. It would be awesome if you can be in battle with a navy or even raid a navel outpost and rescue your crew from jail.
I know righttt sometimes the server is just a bit empty and lack enemies. The player bounty and the royal navy will go well together.
The shroud or the Red Sea protects you from the Royal Navy aka the grand maritime union

Agreeing with Royal Navy patrols, but if players would be jailed by them, that would create a lot of disconnecting players :P

but there should be the option of doing quests for them and give people like an option to be a pirate legend or royal privateer..
I think why they didn't add a vote to kick is so you dont get "trolled". Imagine helping a crew for 3 hours getting super good loot, than just as your about to cash in with them they all vote kick you. Now that's 1 way to "Save, quit, uninstall."
Chief_exe True, but pirates backstab people all the time. Even the pirate lord has 3 knives in his back for eternity because of it.
@@braiden5753 Ye but vote kick isnt really a "roleplay" aspect. That's like adding the ability to kill a randomer in the game with the push of a botton and than say "Welp pirates died of diseases all the time" but xd
Could just add a simple "kick-block" if a mission is active.
They should have two conditions on vote kick though. 1. If you started the session, you cannot be kicked. 2. If you have been in the game for 30+ minutes you cannot be kicked. Before then, you won’t get much loot, and can be kicked for afk.

The bounty idea is amazing! It would reign in some of the notorious "grief" players because they would literally be earning a target on their backs by running around ruining everyone's game. That was an amazing idea to place a bounty on them.
The devs of this game are the best ones i’ve ever seen.
They add most of or everything (if possible) the community requests of them.
AI ships? Done. Meg? Here it is. New areas? Yup. Flags and more ship customization? Absolutely.
And so on. Send this video directly to them and they should get to work.

These ideas are all very cool. I especially like the "Bounty on player" feature you mentioned. This would in theory be very easy for the devs to code.
However the ropes on the side of the sails is a good idea in theory but coding this would be a nightmare. The swinging animation and mechanic would be very tricky to add I reckon.

I can't imagine afk farming in a game where the gold is practically worthless...I mean the whole point of the game is to have fun sailing around and blowing each other up! At that point you're just burning electricity...

I wonder why there's still no npc Navy roaming the seas. Would go perfectly hand in hand with the bounty on players ;)
They do it's called the Skeleton Ships and everyone hates them.

@@codyhansen1073 The skeleton ships are always hostile, no matter what. Now with the new emmissary system, the navy could be protecting them while being neutral to players without bounty or hostile to players with bounty ;)

It would be cool if they added a faction system of some sort to put more of an emphasis rivalry and pvp but in the adventure map. That could also be incorporated with the bounty on other players but they can be set by factions to get revenge.
I feel like a pirate faction system would have to be a players set up sort of thing. Like pirates will be pirates no matter the case. Putting them in a faction would only encourage the PVE grinding that already goes on, as many people are then safe from a larger portion of players (players in the same faction). I think it ultimately comes down to the players. Like if there was a huge allied group on a server that went around as a 5 galley fleet would be very cool to see, with other players forming alliances to fight them. I feel like this was the original idea behind sea of thieves, though that doesn't actually occur.
Canceling sword dash would be cool because it would add another layer of combat to the game such as feinting like in for honour, you have to see through your opponent on whether they are going to dash or just cancel
A year later and none of these have been added or anything somewhat related to this has been changed. Here’s to another year of bad mermaid designs.
Empathic Pine36 they added the banjo, fishing, cooking, a new boat, tall tales, random captain, harpoons, megalodons, and an entire area. Not enough for you?
They have been listening an incredible amount to players with what to work on, their time has just been dedicated towards bringing out new content instead of changing ladders and stuff

That would be cool to see.
For the bounty, how about the crew of the outlaw pirate can’t cash it in (as the game won’t let them pick it up), but the wanted pirate, once he respawns, can sell it. But only getting half of what he is worth. This system would imply teamwork and won’t make the wanted pirate rage quit as he is about to die. Just a thought I came up with.

When u get on the top of the ladder you go down because the ladder sags as of the weight of the pirate so they should
add so that heavier pirates make the ladder sag more that lighter pirated

Now that emmirsarys are a thing i would like to see maybe temples where you would be able to worship the three mane enemys (skeltons,megaldon,kraken) if you could worship these and get cool buffs like skeletons do less damage and pay less attenttion to you. The megaldon could increase swim speed and megaldon health is decreased.Kraken chance is lower and kraken specail move chance is lower but these would only work like emmisarys so the whole crew would have to choose to worship one and the crew cant pick one each to worship buffs also dont build up they only buff the crew once these. Temples would be like the reapers hidout or arena bases in adventurem mode
there is a secret way behind the ship customizations to get up to the higher level of dagger tooth btw
I would like to see the outposts fleshed out more. Right now the outposts are just a bunch of merchant NPCs selling adventures. I would like the tavern to be fleshed out; you should be able to hang in the tavern and rent rooms to refill your health meter. I'd also like to see evil mermen added to the game. Perhaps an underwater city full of these evil mermen?
This game really needs some wildlife. Coral reefs teaming with fish and other sea creatures, Rock pools again with little sea creatures scattered about. Islands with caiman, monkeys, parrots, seagulls, crabs, jaguars, lizards, turtles etc etc. Also they could be used to craft gear like hats, necklaces, clothing etc. Would really help make this game feel alive.

The rope is a good idea I think that being able to tie the rope to the wheel during a storm would also be a good use for it
The game I wanted as a kid
Now I’m a teen with one thing in need of: Halo Cosmetics to match player with ship and cosmetics specifically designed to resembled the Pirate Lord himself: Captain Jack Sparrow with his cameo in the game for a standing or a couple of quests for everyone not locked
the fact this was made over 2 years ago and many of these these things have not been changed does not make the game look like its gonna have a good future
we had an AFK which i knew IRL, we were in closed crew. we lpcked him in the vrig of our brigantine, cashed the chestes we had then sank it with him locked in. he had an extreme fear of drowning.

How bout we make AFK farmers literally walk (or rather get pushed off) the plank?
Imagine, instead of kicking someone and they immediately just pop outta existence, you tie em up, and then push them off of the plank or make their character automatically walk off the plank in a cinematic cutscene, which then results in death that has their character be booted off of the session and into the main menu after exiting the ferry of the damned, and they only get control when the reach the menu.
Why? Presentation, immersion, and LORE.

More ideas:
1.Motars (for long range)
2. Backside cannons
3. Vertical sails (For when the wind faces the opposite direction)
4. More weaponry (axes, muskets, daggers, double sword wielding)
Backside cannons would be so over powered
Fixing the ladder animation and carrying two trinkets at once should already be in the game. A player bounty hunter system as you describe it also sounds great. One small change I'd like to see - make the golden skeletons a little easier to kill with your sword as they're a real pain in the ass if you've run out of shots and there's no easily accessible ammo nearby.
The idea of the bounty for the players is really good
The cancel cutlass lunge can be done by interacting with nearby objects.. still not fixed but a solution for now

Problem with vote to kick is what if you finally complete a voyage and right before selling you kick somebody out. That would suck

I want them to do the same to Ancient Spire. I really, really hate that the pub is at the very top of the mountain. I know they added the two ladders to get there faster, but it's STILL slow as hell.
10:00 did you know that if you release the forward key a little while k to the air, your don't go down the ladder and then up, you just go up

also wanna point a few things.
bountys on players would just encourage targeting from people with alot of money to waste by sending everyone on the server after them, this may even happen to new people in which they are just going to get relentlessly tracked down. not to mention it could be easily exploited with people putting bounties on people they know or allied with for free money or just exchange.
the afk kick has also been suggested for a while, but that can be abused heavily. imagine doing some highest tier quest then a group of friends decide to kick you before handing it in, because yarr.

There should be ropes on the boat that you can use to moor (park) the boat. E.g You can strap the ropes around a log to make the boat stay attached to the dock. This would make it much easier to park the boat.
Also, Rare could make it so that attaching harpoons onto the dock attaches your boat to the dock, just a thought 🤷🏻♂️

Idea for your Voting Wish: a „Vote to Maroon“ Option. Pirates who don‘t contribute anything can be left on an Island nearby without letting them return via Mermaid. If they get lucky, they could find a Rowboat to row for an Outpost and request a sloop or something. Or, another crew could find them and bring the Pirate along. Or, ya know, kill him. They could even let him join the crew if they had open space. If he finds his old crew, he could beg to rejoin them, which is entirely the Crew‘s decision. They could vote to let him back on the ship or vote against it and just kick him back into the Ocean. Would be great for roleplayers and horrible for AFK Farmers because they won‘t get any of the rep or gold.
I now accept the merchant quests story as canon
All those things are still, after 2 years, a pain in the butt...
The story for the merchant quest in a bottle is that pirates that get the merchant quest get bored so they put the quest in a bottle and chuck it in to the ocean. but thats just a theory, a game theory.
Game mode with unlimited crew size. As I’ve said on other videos, clown-car tucking on a sloop with 30 deep would be funny as hell

Does anyone think that you should be able to choose/buy a keg of grog that will give you different harmless effects, like a fire keg that after drinking you burp smoke and vomit fire or a water keg when you burp bubbles come out and when vomiting you throw up seaweed and fish bones. Idk I think that would be really cool to have

Depends on how much loot you have on board
Saving a few secconds per each item sold makes a massive difference the more you have on board especially with smaller crews
I don't like selling unless I have a sizable ammount of loot so dagger tooth to me is a no go unless I have a row boat

honestly im a huge fan of the player bounty idea
I would say vote to walk the plank so that players if they just get kicked for no reason they dont need to keep going into other open crew servers until they dont get kicked for no reason, walk the plank would make you, well, walk the plank, and you will be reported to the nearest island but get kicked off the team, so you would be a castaway and other crews can pick you up but they cannot kill you and you cannot kill them, it is their option if they want you in their crew or not
The bounty system and the vote to kick system really should be in the game.
I think holding a trinket in your right hand and using your left fist/hook to do a punch attack would be more balanced.

An alternative to vote-to-kick: if you're in the brig, you're given a random button prompt every 5 minutes. Press the button within a minute, or you're auto-kicked.

I understand that you shouldn’t sprint with chests, but we should be able to sprint when holding something smaller like a skull or something else that size.
The Bounty System Is Cool, But If You Have a bounty on yourself, you can just go to a random island and jump off while there ship is still sailing, then hide in a bush or something until there time is up and they can cash it in.
Maybe the person with the bounty would be marked on the map like a reapers chest. :O

They should add some sort of.navy that are stationed at the outposts and if you sink enough ships they start sending human npc at you like the Skeleton ships but with humans that come try to arrest you by sinking you and you gotta spend time in a jail cell

Well I say there is a problem with the Bounty Idea. This is mainly lore based, in the Sea Of Thieves you are basically in another realm of open ocean where there is no law. The lifestyle of murder and pillage is basically the norm, not an outlawed ideal.
That's irrelevant; you don't need laws to justify hits or bounties.
Got here in the first 50k. (Bold) prediction - Next 2 months you are going to be 500k.

bro my fav thing to do with afk farmers (since i dont need money or rep) is to do a ton of voyages then place all the loot next to the brig and scuttle with them watchin, therefore they get nothing and actually wasted hours of time and i didn't lose anything and did a lot of pvping
