@Autor: These horses are neither the oldest horses nor wild horses, they were domesticated 3000 years ago and released as the cimarrón horses in the USA some time later. The oldest breed of domestic horse in the world is Spanish, the Retuertas horse, and the two most primitive wild breeds are also Spanish, the Asturcón and the Galician "besta", which is actually the same but for nationalist reasons it is called another name, even presents anatomical differences with common horses.
Releasing Przewalski horses in Spain is a notable threat to ancient Spanish breeds, as are three European bison to fulfill the role that the fighting bull has traditionally played in Spain and that formed its landscape, also protecting the rest of the fauna.
This is the typical business to collect European aid carried out by people, as can be seen, with little training and less awareness.
All decorated in a children's and hollow video with an ecowoke effect.

      Wrong.
      1. The wisent doesn't "replace" or threathen the spanish fighting bull, which is also not a wild or even native species but a domestic one.
      2. The P. Horse are not a threat to the feral horse...it's even the opposite Really.
And it doesn't even matter as they're a domestic race not a true species OR subspecies.
      3. Przewalski horse were never truly domesticated.
      4. Ecowoke ? Seriously ?
How dumb are you to nog only use that as an insult but do it first degree.

Like the Scottish highlands being over run with feral deer. Expensive anti deer fencing has to be used where reforestation with native species is practised as without it the deer eat the sapplings.

Rewilding Spain is wonderful, but why not recovering the "recent" extinct species , animals and vegetation and trees ..instead of focusing in this "peculiar" horse..re-introducing Wild bovines and others should be done also with their " natural" predators, isn't?

    • @ionaguirre

Well, wolves, the prime natural predator here, are fastly recovering their former territories by themselves.
Most people moved to towns or seashores leaving the countrysides. Vast empty spaces, we call the Void Spain is being recovered by Nature.

I have seen another video where they have reintroduced cattle. To expect non wild horses to survive well in the wild is not fair on the horses. Domestic horses suffer all sorts of health problems as a result of our breeding them to suit what we want according to a podcast on equine evolution I listened to recently. It would be the same as a abandoning domestic dogs and cats.

    • @helenamcginty4920

Also different animals eat different foods. Some browse others graze. In England the National Trust stopped cattle and sheep grazing on some chalk downs they owned. Not sure why. Maybe pressure from vegan members?
This resulted in vigourous growth of grasses which out competed with more delicate wild plants many of which had become adapted to growing in the cropped grasslands over centuries, even millenia, of the land with its shallow soils being used as grazing. Sheep and cows also crop the grasses to different heights. I forget which but think cows leave longer grass while sheep can come along after as they crop it shorter.
The lack of specialised wild plants meant that the insects and moths that had co evolved also disappeared. So you need wild horses where once there were wild horses and as there are none left in Spain introducing these is the best solution.

Unless this area isn’t close to their current range which if that is the case then probably Humans, if either of the two are still present then you’ll likely see Bears snatching up young or small Horses.
