SYTYCD has turned into one big Hip Hop VS. Lyrical/Classical dance competition.
Everything is about making people cry, and telling a "story".
Why can't they just flat out dance without all the contrived bullshit anymore?
More importantly, where is Disco and Salsa? They just completely ignore these fun and dynamic forms of dance.
This show favors classically trained dancers. They've even reduced Hip Hop to a BLEND of softened street dance.
Disco and Salsa are incredibly under appreciated.

Not necessarily. The show dowsnt have a ballroom or latin ballroom category anymore and thats classically trained.
