This song is such a masterpiece. The piano outro moves me every time. Miyako is unreal. The whole band is incredible. Asami is an absolutely phenomenal singer and lyricist. Her lyrics are poetic and as beautiful as their music. She deserves more credit

Exactly, Asami is tremendously underrated. It seems that only Midori and Miyako (both wonderful) and partly Haruna, the great little machine, exist. The singer Asami composes almost all the lyrics, part of the music and her vocal quality is tremendous, with an exceptional amplitude of octaves, in addition to moving and involving the audience, and interacting with her bandmates in a joyful and dynamic way, in addition of perceiving that they get along wonderfully with each other. And of course, her presence, due to her beauty and personality, is unquestionable.
Some bloggers even go so far as to say that many of the songs on Lovebites should be entirely instrumental, because the voice is superfluous...what you have to read.

Miyako is a generational talent who is a virtuoso on BOTH the guitar and piano. She also composed & arranged "Swan Song". This track is a neoclassical metal masterpiece. Throughout the song, you can hear motifs from Romantic-era composers Chopin (intro, main riff, solo) and Dvořák (Chorus).
The legend of “The Swan Song" is derived from Ancient Greek mythology which points to the belief that a swan would remain silent until its final moments of life, when it would then sing the most beautiful song. Hence, "The Swan Song" has also become a metaphorical phrase that refers to the final effort or performance delivered just before death or retirement. Asami (lead vocalist) is a trained ballerina and the neoclassical elements of this song reminded her of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". Towards the end of the track, she performed the act of the "dying swan" but the camera panned back to Miyako's piano outro and we did not get to see that in the video.

The prerecorded sounds (basically piano, synthesizers...) are played by themselves and placed on superimposed audio tracks, basically so as not to have to include another member of the band to be in charge of the keyboards live, so we can say that everything we hear is authentic, one hundred percent Lovebites talent.

Hello! Greetings from the old Spanish wolf, new member of your channel, my blonde friend.
It's a very, very good song. The introduction would be enough to be at the top...but then it returns to a beautiful ballad, full of feeling.
This time the guitar solos are less powerful, it is Haruna displaying her incredible repertoire, Miyako's magical piano and Asami's voice full of energy and depth that take the song to another level.
After seeing and hearing wonder after wonder in each passage, the piano once again closes a perfect circle.
I love them! from the deepest respect and admiration.
And Asami.....my Asami (in love like a lamb).

Great reaction. One supplemental information. Revolutionary Etude actually is not the intro. It is an independent performance before Swan Song but some genius edited the two songs in one video as a suite which shares the same theme of a death of hero, dedication and sacrifice, honor and glory. I got my inspiration from this song that people who dedicate for the others are heroes such as your mom and dad, firemen and policemen in your town as well.

    Thanks for your reaction.
'Etude Op.10, No.12' ( or 'Revolutionary Etude') by the Great Polish composer Frederic Chopin, which was written in 1831 and is dedicated to the Polish patriots who raised an uprising (1830-1831) against the Russian Empire, whose troops occupied Poland.
'Swan Song' ( lyrics - Asami / music - Miyako) from LOVEBITES third studio Album 'Electric Pentagram' (2020).
    Asami - lead vocals, piano.
Miyako - (brunette) guitar, piano, keyboards, backing vocals.
For many centuries (starting from Ancient Greece) there is a legend, according to which Swans, non-singing, "silent" birds, acquire a voice a few moments before death, and this dying singing of Swans is amazingly beautiful.
'Etude' by F. Chopin and 'Swan Song' are dedicated to the warriors who died in battle. Therefore, at the concert, 'Etude' and 'Swan Song' are played together.
In an interview given after the release of the 'Electric Pentagram' Album, singer Asami (a former ballerina, studied classical ballet for about 16 years before becoming a singer) said that when she wrote the lyrics of the song, she was thinking about the famous ballet P.I. Tchaikovsky 'Swan Lake'. During the performance of the song, Asami imitates the Swan (hand movements). And in the final part (piano Miyako), symbolizing the death of the Swan, Asami depicts the dying Swan on stage. Since the camera at the end of the song is focused on Miyako playing the piano, Asami's "death of the Swan" was not captured in the shot.
Asami added some Scandinavian mythology (Valhalla) to the lyrics. The attitudes towards death among the Japanese Samurais and the Scandinavian Vikings were very similar. For Samurais and Vikings, death in combat with weapons in their hands is a death worthy of a warrior. Death in battle is better than death from old age in your bed. All Vikings dreamed of dying in battle because then they could go to Valhalla (Hall of warriors killed in battles) where they would meet God Odin and other Vikings who died in battles.
Many of the songs in LOVEBITES, for which Miyako composed the music, are influenced by classical music. Before learning to play the guitar (at age 18), Miyako studied piano and wanted to make a career as a professional pianist.
In June 2023, Miyako's EP was released, which contains piano covers of songs:
    MIYAKO - 'Etude Op.23'
    1. 'Battery' (METALLICA)
    2. 'Far Beyond The Sun' (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN)
    3. 'Eagle Fly Free' (HELLOWEEN)
    4. 'The Loner' (GARY MOORE)
    5. 'Burn' (DEEP PURPLE)
    6. 'Addicted' (LOVEBITES)
On November 19, 2023, in Tokyo, two Miyako solo piano concerts took place - 'A Day With Miyako' :
    1. 'An Afternoon With Miyako'.
    2. 'An Evening With Miyako'.
At these concerts, Miyako played piano covers from her solo EP, piano covers of other songs ( DRAGONFORCE, X-JAPAN, LOVEBITES ) and works of classical composers (F.CHOPIN, S.RACHMANINOV).

If you haven't already, have a listen to Miyako's piano transcriptions of some rock/metal songs, played as though they are classical compositions. The collection can be found on YT at 'miyako - Topic' as 'Etude Op.23'. Songs include Burn from Deep Purple, The Loner from Gary Moore and Eagle Fly Free from Helloween. Highly recommended, they give a taste of the depth of Miyako's talent.
Swan Song references themes from compositions by Chopin and Dvorak in addition to the Chopin introduction, and it gives Asami a chance to show off her Ballet training. It is one of my favourite songs from Lovebites.

    Hi from France:
    This song mixes several things.
Lyrically, Asami draws a parallel between the Samurai and the Viking Warriors, but also with Greek legends and others from the Middle Ages (Arthurian style) which speak of knights or warriors who go into battle to defend the Country, the Widow, the Orphan or the Honor of a Damsel marked with self-sacrifice and silence in the face of danger and who, like the mute swan, would only sing on the threshold of its death on the battlefield.
For the music, Miyako made a subtle mix between Chopin and Rachmaninoff to develop her arrangements and in addition she slides into Dvorak's "New World Symphony" on the outro...
The intro played during this concert is pure Chopin (Étude Op. 10. No. 12, known as "The Revolution") and was not part of the song originally recorded in the studio.
Hoping that Google trad doesn't betray my words too much... 😉

Lovebites makes epic songs or masterpieces and as here sometimes both at the same time. Miyako has been trained since age 3 on piano and picked up the guitar at 18 and self taught while Midori dropped out of college at 20 to enter a prestigious music school for guitar. This song shows off that savant brain of Miyako but it also highlights the insane talent from the rest of the band to be able to play this especially LIVE. Whatever your taste in music there is no denying the insane talent in this band from composing, arranging, lyrics and playing LIVE. Her piano LP of 6 metal songs reworked into classic piano pieces is also stunning. Check out Eagle Fly Free (Helloween cover) to see just how insane her talent is ua-cam.com/video/-h3BLRs0Xr4/v-deo.html BTW great reaction and love your channel!!!

Ostensibly, this song is inspired by the ballet Swan Lake. It includes references to multiple world spiritualities (Norse: Valhalla, Christian: God's Heaven, Buddhist: Floating Lotus), and is ultimately a truibute all those soldiers who have died in defense of their respectively homelands. It also includes story elements from the Buddhist parable "The Legend of Siddhartha and the Swan" (often known simply as "Legend of the Swan"). The parable goes that a hunter shot a swan in flight, and the bird fell on someone else's land. The hunter and the land-owner argue about who owns the downed and dying swan, so they finally decide to ask the Buddha to decide who has the rights to the bird. Buddha answers that as long as the swan still lives, it has the sole rights to its being. It's about allowing dignity to the dying. The story behind the Swan Song ballet was already described by others in the comments. The piano intro also relates to war. It is known as the Revolutionary Etude. Chopin wrote the piece while he was in exile in France following the November Uprising in his native Poland, which happened while he was traveling and prevented his return to Poland.

Just for you to know: when Miyako composes a piece she sends a demo to the rest of the band and she plays not only the keys/synths and guitar but she also filled in the drums and bass too so that the others have an idea of what the song is about. It sounds "different" because the whole thing is constructed using themes from great classical composers. This is Miyako's thing. She is a classical musician first. Chopin (pronounced Show-pan) was a Polish-born Romantic-era (1800’s) classical composer and piano virtuoso who lived most of his life in France. He is considered one of the great classical composers, specializing in highly technical works for piano. "Etude" is French for "study". Chopin's Etudes were written as "studies", or lessons, for his students. They ended up being popular things for professional pianists to play as part of their concerts, in part to show off their skills. This is one of the more famous ones and is considered one of the most difficult ones. Miyako, who composes a lot of Lovebites’ music, is a professional-level concert pianist, and was originally going to make classical music her career. When she was 18, she picked up a guitar, and is now (quite obviously) an elite-level guitarist. She particularly likes the Romantic Era classical composers like Debussy, Dvořák and Chopin, as well as her stated favorite, Russian romantic composer Rachmaninoff. She composed “Swan Song” using elements of the New World Symphony (Dvořák) and Chopin’s Revolutionary Etude (official name Étude Opus 10, No. 12 in C minor). For this performance, she actually played the Etude as the intro, but it’s not normally included in their shows.
Valhalla is the Norse conception of heaven, where slain warriors go to await the final battle at the end of the world.

The whole "swan song" thing is a reoccurring - trope? theme? motiff? one of those words - through literature. It's based on the unproven belief that swans are mostly quiet throughout their life and then sing a beautiful song shortly before dying. Leonardo Da Vinci and Plato both wrote about it.
In more modern music, Led Zeppelin had a record company called Swan Song Records. The only bands I remember being signed to that label were Bad Company and, of course, Led Zeppelin. The label didn't last long, less than ten years, but its logo has been on thousands of shirts over the decades.

Some knowledge of history is required to understand the meaning of the lyrics of this song.
In 1831, some officers and citizens rose up against the Polish government, which was under the de facto control of the Russian Empire, in what was known as the 'November Revolution', but failed due to the direct intervention of Russian troops. Chopin received this news during a performance tour. He never set foot on the soil of his homeland again. When the Russians invaded Warsaw, Chopin's representatives presented the Etude OP 10, No. 12 in Paris. Franz Liszt, a friend of Chopin, then named it the 'Revolutionary Etude'.
Miyako composed Swan Song based on this 'Revolutionary Etude' and Dvorak's 'New World Symphony'.
Asami (vocalist), a former ballerina, wrote the lyrics inspired by Norse mythology and the ballet suite "Swan Lake", based on the historical background of the "Revolutionary Etude".
"SwanSong" is a requiem for the warriors who fought to reclaim their homeland, a masterpiece that only Love Bites could complete.

I play some piano, and I can tell you that Chopin's music is not easy to play - at least, not play well. His etudes, like Miyako played in the beginning, are especially difficult. Don't even think of playing them until you've had 10-15 years of experience. And that's only if you've been practicing diligently that whole time. Chopin wrote his etudes ("studies") for practicing particular techniques. This etude is to improve the movement of the left hand. If you watch Miyako play it, her left hand never stops moving. Very difficult. This song could not have been written by someone who didn't have a superb understanding of music theory (as Miyako does). If you listen carefully, you hear different motifs from the piano piece moving in and out of the song. This song, to me, is a masterpiece of music writing. I'd like to suggest another masterpiece to you - "A Frozen Serenade." Best wishes!

Not many bands have a song that combines elements of classical music with Motorhead-esque riffs (tell me the riff after the chorus doesn't have an "Ace Of Spades" type feel, right?). What's crazy is Miyako and Midor had a late start to learning guitar, Miyako 18 and Midori 20. Having an understanding of music theory through piano helps, but you still need to master technique, and they're both so flawless and clean with it, especially with the sweeps. As far as Miyako on piano, last year she released an EP with classical piano covers of; Battery” (Metallica), “Far Beyond The Sun” (Yngwie Malmsteen), “Eagle Fly Free” (Helloween), “The Loner” (Gary Moore), “Burn” (Deep Purple) and “Addicted” (Lovebites). There's is a video on Lovebites official page for the Helloween cover if you interested. ua-cam.com/video/-h3BLRs0Xr4/v-deo.htmlsi=TgiVtdiKlx33a_lv Its a beautiful piece.

you’re wrong. midori and Miyako does not try to out due each other.
they compliment each other. they speak guitar together. they understand each other. one is no better than the other. they are both equal. M&M reigns supreme.

Liked your reaction to this song and lovebites, so just wanted to give you a little info about the song and a little about the band members. Have included names and “official nicknames” The intro on piano is by a polish composer Frederic Chopin (pronounced show pan) part of his revolutionary Etudes, this being Opus 10 No 12 composed in 1831 when he was only 21. This intro was only played during Lovebites 2020 Five of a Kind tour playing 4 venues in Japan, Osaka, Tokyo, Hiroshima and Fukuoka, available as a live concert DVD and a live concert CD of the same name until knockin at heaven's gate concert. Asami “The one and only voice” (vocals/piano) based the songs concept around the Greek mythology of Phaethon son of ‘Helios the sun God’ and Phaethon’s demise. Cycnus Phaethon’s lover and companion upon discovering Phaethon’s dead body wailed the most mournful noise. Zeus was asked to silence him by the other Gods so Zeus turned Cycnus into a mute swan. Legend said that mute swans only made a sound just moments before their death, a most beautiful but mournful song. That is where one’s ‘swan song’ is alleged to have originated from. Also baby swans are called Cygnets. Asami also mixed in some Norse mythology as Vikings like the Samurai wanted to die an honourable death in battle with weapons in hand to be led to Valhalla (Norse mythologies version of heaven know as the hall of our fathers) mentioned in the song. Asami’s movements during the song mimic a swan which were taken from swan lake, no surprise as Asami did classical ballet from age 2 for 16 years and also comes from a R & B, soul and Jazz background. Until Lovebites she’d never sang metal, this was liked by the band when she auditioned as their vocalist as she wasn’t constrained by what is typically thought to be metal. While Miyako (piano/guitar/keyboard/backing vocals “The golden touch”) plays the piano outro Asami performs the dying swan scene from swan lake but this is not seen as the camera stays on Miyako. Miyako is a fully trained classical concert pianist having started playing piano at 3 and picking up the guitar at 18. She grew up listening to classic rock with her mother particularly deep purple and Rainbow, Miyako was heavily influenced by Richie Blackmore and more modern guitarists as well. Asami and Miyako are the main lyricists and composers on this song and many of their songs. Asami predominantly on the lyrics and Miyako on the musical composition with influences of Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Dvorak. Midori (guitar/backing vocals “The crazy shredder”) had input with the guitar solo’s ect. Midori started piano at 2 and electric organ at 8 but gave them up later. She started leaning guitar at 20 and graduated Japan’s Musicians institute in Osaka. There was also input from both Miho (bass/backing vocals “Natural born headbanger”) and Haruna too (drums “Little BIG ENGINE” She’s about 4ft 10in). Hauruna started playing drums at 13 and composing songs and lyrics on keyboard at 14 and like Asami hadn’t heard metal and had little interest either. Until her first concert she went to and watched a metal band who were playing amongst others. She was fascinated by the drummer’s use of the double kick and sparked her drumming career. Miho was their former bassist and co-founder of the band with Haruna (2016) both formally of Destrose (2012 - 2014) and both born in Shizuoka. Miho had always been into hard rock and metal and started play bass in junior high. Her influences were Iron Maiden, Pantera, Motley Crue and Anthrax. Both Miho and Haruna said. ‘After leaving Destrose we wanted to form a PROPER heavy metal band and found Midori and Miyako as guitarists and Asami as vocalist (Thank God they did). Miho left Lovebites for personal reasons with absolutely no animosity between any of them in 2021. Fami is their new bassist with huge ability and able to play multiple styles (check out her cover of ‘Alien, Alien’ for a demo on YT). She also composes songs and writes lyrics, first playing on their new album ‘Judgement day’ the album’s title track was the first song/music video released followed by ‘The spirit lives on’ and ‘Dissonance.’ Side note: All band members have worked on composing songs and lyrics together and individually. They dress in white to stand apart from bands that dress in black. They did not want to play typical Japanese metal but western influenced metal instead. It should also be noted that it should be illegal for any band to possess so much talent and make full use of it. Sorry for the essay. Enjoy your journey with this amazing and phenomenal band, the best thing to happen to metal in decades, from an old metalhead.

    LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
    Oh brave soldier
    Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
    Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful
    Sing me your sweet song
    The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been through despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to never care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
    Oh brave soldier
    Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
    Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful

    The legend of the swan

    Floating lotus

This is an old Scandinavian saga of the gods, in the batle of Valhalla all the Gods deis exept Oden and Tors sons and a couple of already dead Gods, and ofcorse the Highest one wicth ( wtch is Odens over 200 names) so he probarly survices or becomes birt again.. 😏😏

Hmmm ... no not really. Valhalla is the hall for dead heroes. Where they eat and drink and have fun. The final battle is called Ragnarök. Its more or less the same as Armageddon. With other actors.
