- London-based fashion designer Gareth Pugh is known for his experiments with shape and volume. He employs unusual materials that are difficult to work with, such as PVC and rubber, to make strong silhouettes. Like Cristóbal Balenciaga, he produces shapes that abstract the body. Here, Pugh describes his choice of materials and techniques, and compare's Balenciaga's signature sculptural quality with his own design aesthetic.
'Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion' is on display at the V&A from 27 May 2017 until 18 February 2018

Garbage designers making clothes made from garbage bags. Stupid fashion. Not beautiful nor practical.
What are your credentials?
Brent Duplessis most désigner today are in that catégorie. Once you rémove the tag you Wonder why you are supposéd to care that much.
since when was performance art, and art as a whole ever meant to be practical? I really feel that you are missing the point. Beauty is also in the eye of the beholder, and I really love his work and very obvious inspirations from the LGBT+ community. Drag queens have been doing similar to him since before he was born, and he knows it. He just has a really great eye and unique slant on the idea.
I am interested to see what you think of the late Alexander McQueen at this point.
Luna Rose fashion is not art. It might be artistic but it not art. If it art it somehow mediocre and wont stand test of time.
