I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who didn’t love Marvin Gaye. He’s a legend.
His dad didn`t
@@telstar4772 LoL! I never met Marvin Gaye’s dad.
@@kellifranklin9872 His dad shot him to death.
@@interabang Lol. Yes, I’m aware of that fact. I remember what I was doing when I heard the news. My original post said I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who doesn’t like Marvin Gaye. Someone wrote back his dad didn’t. I then informed the person that I had never met his dad. So my original post still stands true. I’VE never met anyone who doesn’t love Marvin Gaye. I just don’t think I can be any clearer than that.
he has some good songs
I remember this song coming on TV around 1983 as a kid along w/ Michael Jackson's 'Billie Jean' music video... I was shocked less than a year later, it came on the news that Marvin Gaye was shot dead by his own father during an altercation.
Marvin Gaye was such an icon in music since the 60's... and he scored one of his biggest hits just before his death... life can be so unfair...
was a bit of a shock alright...what was it something to do with his birthday or around his birthday...
@@donaldduck2139 He was killed just before his birthday... We don't know the details, but we do know Marvin Gaye was struggling w/ cocaine addiction and he (likely) sought his parents' help to try get clean.
However, his father was a conservative church minister and (by all accounts) a very intolerant man who did not approve of his son's music career or lifestyle... So, their relationship was not a good one... Marvin Gaye (I'm guessing) wanted his father's approval his whole life, but never got it.
We can gather that just before Marvin Gaye's birthday, he got into a heated argument w/ his father and it got physical... Marvin Gaye was not in good shape coming down from drugs... His father was later diagnosed w/ a brain tumor that made him unpredictable... He shot and killed his son in Marvin Gaye's bedroom.
Marvin Gaye Sr. (his father) was charged w/ voluntary manslaughter after his tumor was diagnosed... He passed away in 1998.
RIP Marvin!
2:34 I can relate totally. "Jonka jonk" its so easy to not associate things except with a tone as a kid ya know XD
Brad & Lex, you’ll love his “Lets Get It On", “I HeardThrough the Grapevine", "Mercy Mercy Me" and "Can I Get a Witness"!!!
Also his "Ain't No Mountain High Enough"(w/Tammi Terrell)!!
You forgot Marvin singing "Inner City Blues" with SO much passion. GREAT tune that was/is.
And don’t forget “What’s Going On”.

☝🏼I Want You
Marvin is king of that smooth soul
This is my favorite song of all time! Marvin was on his way to a comeback when he was murdered. This song was HUGE when it came out. I was raised on Marvin Gaye. He was truly special.
Raised on this classic music. Miss them. Marvin was one of the best.
Isn't THAT tha TRUTH! 💃💃 I remember EXACTLY where I was when I heard the news. TIME STOPPED!😢 RIP🙏
Lex's story about her dad singing this song to her mom is so cute. Yeah, the actual lyrics might as well be French to a small child. Marvin Gaye is one of the giants of pop music and soul. Early on, he wrote hits for other artists at Motown before becoming a performer himself. And his later album, What’s Going On, is a masterpiece.
shes funny aint she...brad so serious 😅
Marvin's voice was like satin. So effortlessly smooth.
2:09
The whole WORLD knows Marvin Gaye.
Ты абсолютно прав!!
On point my friend
Right you are.
The whole world also knew who M.L.K. and Malcolm X were.
But…the whole world DID NOT love them. And, neither does this couple. A great part of this couple’s online appeal has to do with their open distain for black people.
They remind me of other black “conservatives”, who pander to whites-for personal economic gain. But, there’s no love lost; because, I believe that the people and issues that they so flagrantly despise?…aren’t very fond of them either.
Best album ever is Marvin's "What's Going On". A stunning achievement (it's literally been ranked #1 of top albums *ever* by major music journals & critics for years). This man just has the most amazing voice. Not a bad song in his catalogue!
I sure love Midnight Love though.
"Sexual Healing" was written and recorded in Ostend - Belgium in Freddy Cousaert's apartment, was released in October 1982, and became Gaye's biggest career success, spending a record ten weeks at No. 1 on the Hot Black Singles chart
I love this song! This was his big comeback hit, released in 1982, but it’s sad too because he was killed by his father, April 1, 1984!❤❤
The Prince of Motown! His career started in the late 50s and he has so many hits. A true legend we lost much too early.
This is my favorite song by Marvin, he left us way too soon. Thanks Brad and Lex.
Marvin's 1971 What's Going On album is one of the the most iconic and highly respected albums of all time. A masterpiece of work, and the content still very relevant today. A must listen.
Love, love, love this cool artist❤ Marvin Gaye was sooo friggin' smooth and chill in ALL categories. This song was so popular back in the day (still is gold) - great pick guys! Lex's reaction was priceless. Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories!!🦋
If you don’t dig Marvin Gaye, we can’t be friends. ♥️
I always loved this song so much and sometimes I wonder how many children have come about or I guess I should say how many pregnancies have come about because of this smooth sexiness All time classic. RIP Marvin Gaye😎
What's Going On, the album, is one of the great works of art of the 20th century. A masterpiece from beginning to end.
He’s got the best version of “The Star Spangled Banner” I’ve ever heard.
Tragic death. RIP
This was the first hit song to use the TR-808 drum machine for the percussion track. That classic 808 sound!
Such a talent. Such a tragic ending. RIP.
You guys really have so deep to dive with Marvin! Not a bad song by this man. Enjoy!!!
Not a bad song?????
Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson and Al Green…. Anyone of them… a warm summer night, a nice breeze and your main squeeze… all you need for a romantic night…
Many Marvin greats. But Lets Get it On is a perfect pairing with this one.
Hey y'all know Marvin Gaye was the coolest vocalist back then. Everybody loved his songs , I Heard it Through The Grapevine , and many others. Get fired up with his albums.
This man is so smooth. Such a tragic story, too :(
Marvin stayed for about 1 year in Belgium ( in the coastcity Ostend ) in 1981 and the song was written there ....
Gaye intervened in a fight between his parents in the early afternoon hours of April 1, 1984, in the family house in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles. He became involved in a physical altercation with his father, Marvin Gay Sr., who shot Gaye twice, once in the chest, piercing his heart, and then into Gaye's shoulder.[103] The shooting took place in Gaye's bedroom at 12:38 p.m. The first shot proved fatal. Gaye was pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m. after his body arrived at California Hospital Medical Center, one day short of his 45th birthday.
This is Marvin just before he died... You seriously need to check out the entire album 'Whats going on' recorded decades before - the dude was very 'right on' and the track 'inner city blues' is one of the best tracks of all time.
Wife loves this song.. we remember it played on the radio at the drive inn ...
There’s an a cappella version of Heard It through the Grapevine that really showcases his amazing voice, will give you chills!!
What's Goin' On would be a good one for you to check out. he was a treasure.
8 year old me had NO BUSINESS singing this song. 😂
Right?! But I still know every word.
Watch out! We called this Baby Makin' music when it came out.
Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke were the greatest male r&b singers ever. Far and away.
Such an incredible song to hear in the day. I love Marvin.
his version of the Star Spangled Banner at the 83 NBA All star game is unique and so awesome.
Marvin was a big Motown star back in the early days with more than 30 hit songs. This was his big comeback record in the 80’s and he died tragically not too long after this hit. One song to check out is his version of “Heard It Through the Grapevine.”
An entire generation was conceived to this.
Gee, brings back great memories. Back when the album with that song was released, I already was a big fn, but listening to the album and especially THAT song was so good. And getting down to it in the clubs, late at night or in the early morn, when the DJs put it on... fantastic.
Yeah, well, and it sure made things work on romantic mix tapes.
This had to be the biggest hit of the year it came out because it seemed like it was every third song on the radio.
Marvin Gaye was cool. RIP.
Bringin memories back ❤ Those songs were played at my hi school dances. 😊✌️
What's Goin On is legendary. He made phenomenal music, considering he died so young.
I have what I consider to be an ecletic, diverse taste in music, and I'm surprised at how many songs that I like you two react to, I am impressed by the wide spectrum of music you react to, keep it up.
I’ll bet y’all listen to this around 9 months ago and the rest is history! 👶🍼
Marvin Gaye’s masterpiece was the anti-war anthem, What’s Going On. You really shouldn’t go any further with his music without listening to that one first.
They did that one before this one.
My friends, growing up during the time of real music (IMHO), this was what you played on your 8-track or cassette when your lady was with you.
guys, I’m from Argentina, and i know hoo is Marvin Gaye, Legend
..."Class of 76"...Marvin Gaye on the turntable...lights off... a candle and your lady...
THE iconic Marvin Gaye song is "What's Going On?"
Wife here.., Marvin Gaye was an Absolute Icon.!!!...And this is probably the best known POP R&B and every other known category song in the Entire World..(Real Talk)
Excellent song he is the brother of soul you guys got to listen to Let's Get It On
❤Baby making music❤😂
Great song!
I was in 10th grade when Marvin's father shot him...April 1985. He was a few days shy of his 45th birthday. What a loss. Gone way too soon.
People who say that Barry White was the king of "Baby Making Music" don't know Marvin Gaye! Sexual Healing and Let's Get It On were required listening back in the day. His loss was an unfortunate waste and absolute tragedy. Our family lived about 2 blocks away from his home in the Palmer Woods neighborhood in Detroit and I remember vividly the night when he was shot dead by his father. The whole street was lit up by police. What a shame...
Oh yeahhhh! 🎤Baaaaaaabbbbbby, I can’t wait for to operate🎤😳😜 Classic right here! 🔥💝💙
Ahh, some Marvin Gaye
Havent seen yalls videos in forever glad to see yall checked out marvin
Babies, babies and more babies!
He was SO great. Great track and brilliant vocal.
Marvin's career spanned decades and it is one rabbit hole that you guys should consider. You won't regret it.
Lex's parents sound like they were a lot of fun!
My favorite. Male singer, him singing National anthem
BAAAAAAAAAABY in the beginning and the soft tone of GET UP GET UP GET UP, WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP
The big "librarian" glasses were a women's fashion trend in the '80's. And yes, we thought they were sexy.
During the fadeout "Please don't procrastinate, it's not good to m*st*rbate" 🤣🤣🤣
This was a real BabeLayer back in the day - everyone knew this song as such for at least the next 20 years.
A song that would be a good follow-up is Nightshift by The Commodores -- it was a tribute to Marvin after his death.
Oh gosh guys,Marvin was iconic. He could sing with anyone. He sang solo and in several duets. He was the "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" guy!A great part of black history in music if there ever was a person that fit that bill. His father shot and killed him back in 1984.
Got to Give it Up is great Marvin Gaye tune.
Man I miss this kind of music I mean yeah we can listen to it anytime but still growing up during this time was nice
Now... it's WAY to soon for you two to be listenin' to this song. Let Lex before makin' another!
I used to get so embarrassed when this came on the radio when I was in the car with my mom🤣
My massage therapist plays Marvin Gaye during the massage! This is one of the Songs she plays… Amazing it’s a wonderful feeling with a great song
I knew Lex was going to love this track. Not because of the lyrics but because of how it feels.
So many memories...
He is pure soul. He is unique.
This song was a mega hit back in 1982
Went to his concert in Seattle!!! 4 hrs long!! Great artist and still missed.
Marvin, believe me! Grown folks music 🔥
My favorite Marvin Gaye song is Troubled Man.
Classic
Marvin Gaye was the 💣 so Sad 😢 and tragic how is life ended.
Deep and down - this is one of my “special” songs - say no more.
I so love this song!!!👍🤠🇨🇦
I constantly listen to this track since it was released...it's a must have on that dating/romantic playlist.
Soul brother.
This was one of Marvin’s last hits (early 80’s). He was mainly from late 60’s and through the 70’s.
Marvin Gaye is one of the very few people that I put at the top. He is in a very exclusive club along with Wilson Pickett, Ray Charles, Gladys Knight, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, David Rufin, Levi Stubs and Otis Redding.
♥️♥️♥️
Dad played Elvis, Jerry Lee, Bill Black's Combo, but momma...
played Marvin.
Marvin Gaye was shot in 1984 by his father. 44 years old
Marvin was the man. Great great music came out of Motown time
Love this song❤ 1982
Marvin did take some flack after releasing this song, but we listened to it anyway.
Don't get any ideas! No more babies yet! 🤣🤣🤣✌️🫶🤷♀️😏
“I was like, how is that sexy?”
Don’t be mad dude, but she’s actually pregnant again 🤣🤣🤣
That’s how smooth Marvin is !!!
What's Going On = Chills 😎👍
