WILSON D300 IRONS reviewed and tested on the golf course by PGA professional Mark Crossfield. Talking about long low spinning golf shots and comparing this Wilson D300 against his bladed golf club. Play your best golf with the best equipment for your golf game and Mark's reviews will help you make a informed choice when it comes to trying the best golf clubs.
Wilson making a comeback ? Good to see they've put out a few nice sets recently.
reminds me of my vrs irons I still hit today..! which I bought because of a review you did oh 5 years ago..?! still have massive pop in them..!
Fun little test, Mark. Good of you to shine a light on a brand that's worthy but generally overlooked.
The more I watch these videos the more Mark seems to be telling us that equipment barely matters, at least compared to the ROI you'll get from lessons. Couldn't agree more as a novice golfer. The whole industry is a racket designed to get our money.
Absolutely agree about miss judging the speed with the modern distance clubs around greens, I find it almost impossible to judge chip and run shots around greens with 8,9 and wedge irons now because the balls coming off the face too hot. The flip side is that I'm very good with my 52 and 58 clubs now.
I have D200s and it took me ages to get used to them having had PING G10s before that. I struggled with the weight, so watched videos to do with stance & grip etc... I managed to sort it after hitting lots of balls! I noticed, once I hit them clean, that my distances were up by at least 10yds per club.
Loving the guys reaction to the "nearly" hole in one at 8:06
love my CI11 irons. Won't be changing them anytime soon!
tried Wilson irons for the first time this year. then swapped out my AP2s for the V6 tours.
what you think Jeff? lovely looking clubs and true lofts the v6, might test them mate
MrBadassbuddha give it a go. I love the V6 tours. Never even thought about going back to my AP2s.
I find playing my Game improvement clubs I find I don't try more finesse shots , then with my old Blades . The smaller heads and feel give me more confidence in playing different shots then with my bigger headed clubs . I play the Sterling single length and like them a lot and play pretty decent with them , but bringing the blades back in play I am finding I am hitting them center club face and hitting better shots and my scoring has come down too !!
I use the Di7 which are quite a few years old now but I love them, have you thought about doing a 'classic clubs' review? Find out what your subs play and review the most popular older sets.
I'm sure I've seen more of your coffee machine this month, than I've seen me own wife!! 😂
Epic review, love the oncource difference on the two types of irons. Gives alot better insight then dry numbers.
But was expecting to hear about how they relate to the latest release from swatch :D
+petembb haha 😂👍😉
a quick question for you Mark:
you have already said in other videos that your skill set allows you to manoeuvre and shape literally any shot you want, dry ball data shot number 7 was 179 yards carry with a peak height of 34 and spin rate of 56** (cannot remember exactly) the rest were all peaking at around the 25-28 yards. I know you are getting away from the dry ball testing with actually getting out and using the club's as they are supposed to be, but, that just stood out as being more input from the Indian then the arrow.
I ain't saying i am good at golf but have you tried the wilson d-100 they are a real nice set, and have certainly improved my game.
I definitely found it hard to funk the shorter clubs with my 2016 M2 irons. Knuckleball central
Very interesting video, Mark, but I feel something's a bit missing, since you're a pro with a very very reliable swing, controlling delivery pretty much better than 95% of us, at least. What would have been a truly great experiment would have been to have a 15 handicap play that hole with those two clubs. And to have his/her opinion on the feel, when hitting middle or mishitting, with both.
Oh god, not another one........ you've not watched many crossfield videos have you? oh wait ....... have i just been trolled?
Beginner/Novice with Blade shoots a 9 with the Wilson shoots a 7 !?! , but there's simply too many variables, its always going to come down to ability first, then equipment that hopefully only enhances/maximises a players strengths.. isnt it..?
1000Gixxers sure enough. that's why I said 15 handicap... not a beginner, that more like the average handicap, decent player but far from Pro.
Whats that going to prove? What results do you expect?
Depends where. In the US, sure enough 15 is crap. In France a 15 is at the bottom of "decent", but decent. Anyway, I think I remembered somewhere that the average handicap across all golfers registered with a national federation is rather similar the world over and in the neighbourhood of 17... So 15 would be a great example of "average Joe golfer". So if you have both Mark and a 15 handicap you can figure out what to expect for YOUR handicap, a sort of linear interpolation of results.
I find it confusing that I 'desire' a Wilson tennis racquet more than any other brand, but Wilson golf clubs must be in the bottom 3 of brands I'd consider. Harrington isn't Federer clearly... 🤔
Great stuff Crossfield! How's about the Triton Driver if you can find one :D
Always been a Mizuno snob until i tried the Wilson V6s! Went straight in my basket
I admit it - I'm a Wilson fanboy (everything but my driver/putter)... so cheers Mark for reviewing the "less popular" brands and seeing they're just as good! Wilson's current blade (which you hit!) is stoopid pretty, so good stuff at all ends. Cheers BRUH!
T.A. Fossett the Triton is a good driver...have you tried one yet?
Wilson really hookin' you up brah! Maybe you can do a course vlog with Padrig. :)
Pared a par 5 using only Wilson 6 iron! Very deflating when I have the choice of 15 clubs and still get blobs haha
Another word that comes to mind (that is appropriate for a family channel as other words come to mind as well) is depressing.

At 2:21 Mark sounds like he is rapping his analysis of the data :)
looking at a second hand set of these at the moment...I'm a high handicapper and do struggle for distance, so these could be for me.
Plus, "a good chunky monkey" is definitely how I'd like to be described on a golf course, I'm sold
Mark, can you review the Wilson D7 irons?
It must be getting harder and harder to decide what lofts to make your irons. long irons have to compete with hybrids, short irons have to compete with wedges.
I have a question for you , you have put an ap1 iron in your bag to replace a 5 iron, for a chunky club do you still get the spin from it as per your blades and have you got an amt red shaft in it ?
I have noticed my stopping on the green is less with the g410 than it was with ap1 with red amt shafts although I am getting lower and more penetrating flight with 105 shafts in g410 and around 20 yards further.
i have a question for you.....i am 53 about an 15-20 handicap.....am trying to decide between wilson staff D200 or D300 irons.......am i gonna notice any real diffrence to make it worth the price ???? price of the D200 are 499 the D300 are 999.....thx love your videos
Cheers Mark. I like Wilson clubs.
ill try em. Plz send them to me ;) Thanks brah. I am in the market for clubs i just dont know if i want traditional clubs or equal length.
You’re a funny dude Mark. Love your videos
What are those trousers? I want a pair.
Wilson makes the best irons hands down on the market!
Frank Kojak just bought a set of D7 Wilson they are sweet.
Is that even your 6 iron Mark ?
Parfield, these Wilson irons sell for 800-900$ in my neck of the woods.... bought a set of Mizuno JPX-EZ (forged, last years model, but still in the wrapper) for $299.....which is the better game improvement purchase for a high handicapper?
You can always buy an older model for cheaper. If they have the right shaft and can have the lies adjusted, that's a good way to go. The upside with current model clubs is you can generally order them with the grips, shafts, and lie angles that you want.
Did you get your actual 6 iron back yet?
If possible, please review C200 also. Thanks.
I almost bought those...
I have the C200s. They are not as chunky and yet give you the same power holes face flex tech. I'm still getting adjusted to them but I like what I see so far.
Kasperi Sokka I had the new c200 but couldn't get used to them. Traded them in for Srixon z355 and couldn't be happier. Longer distances and soft feel from 80yards in. Give them a check out to.
Picked up the C200's last year after taking a year off with injury. Still prefer my players irons but the Wilsons really hold up well.
I changed late last fall from Maltby MMB's to C200. First new set of irons I ever bought, all before has been second hand. Have no complaints with C200 and like/ liked Maltby MMB just fine. It is just me, I like to experiment...
Further off line on a better hit. All you need to know. Blades and forged clubs just seem to produce a tighter dispursion even on awful strikes.
As a terrible golfer and owner of both forged blades and super game improvement irons, I can prove your hypothesis wrong. It just depends on how you deliver the club.
Rick Shorts but as ball speed matters for height and distance and GI irons in theory create higher ball speed, they will always go further in any direction besides short (obviously). I played G30 irons, switched to TP MCs and now P770s and I def loose less balls with the same awkward swing. Maybe it is just me. Don't you see any difference?
Julian Meier I see your point and agree in theory, but I don't notice a difference in practice. I can definitely imagine spots where a bad shot would be made worse by an extra 5-10 yds length. I've just never felt "darn, if only I weren't playing GI irons" or "these blades really saved me there" on a bad shot.
Are these the Casio range ?
If anyone is still looking into these, Wilson changed the design on them. They are now callled super lights and do not have the filled power holes.
Was that a golf course, or a cow pasture?
Mark putts better with a 6 iron than I do with my putter...
The Wilsons are realy not for you are they Mark? Would someone with 26hc play as good with a bladed iron?
+BjørnPing Gmax I have don't lots of good videos on this misunderstood concept.
Its no coincidence the top 5 Golfers in the world play the top 3-4 brands (based on sales) in golf, & If Ricki keeps showing up like he is watch Cobra steal some market share, we buy what appears successful, (and looks purdy) it makes us feel like we can be successful/better or at might offer you the greatest chance to be that, even if only marginally.
Wilson has the most tour wins of any brand.
Hope you didn't hit any live stock out there

How can a brand have such a good standing in racket sports but so undesirable in golf?! Tennis is my main sport and would always game Wilson, golf I'm not so interested.
Marketing. Do you think you don't see many players on tour with Wilsons in the bag because the clubs aren't good enough or because Wilson can't match the paycheck from TM or Titleist? I reckon even if there is some difference in tech, the difference in actual performance is so minuscule that it wouldn't show up unless you're very near being a tour player yourself.
That said, it's all for fun anyway and the heart wants what the heart wants.
I feel the point is that a person off 18 can hit the ball as long as you, with your blade;s
wilson has some beautiful clubs but these d300 's no thank you ...
The power slots ruin the club head design for me.
I normally really enjoy your on course testing as it makes a lot of sense i.e. hitting shots in gaming situations. But this was just pointless, we all know that the Wilson has stronger lofts and is going to spin less so might struggle to stop on the greens. But you've not hit one shot in this "review" that YOU would have actually hit in a gaming situation, so the whole "on course" part is entirely negligible. You may as well have sat in your office and juts said "mizuno spins more, wilson spins less and goes further, end."
Even seeing him hitting shots in gaming situations isn't all that useful. The difference between clubs is more about looks and how YOU personally feel with the thing in your hands.
They haven't quite perfected the tech needed for us all to test drive clubs over youtube, but he at least gave us some side-by-side visuals with a "player's club", and gave us his impressions and feelings on it.
#chunkybottom YES PLEASE!!!!!!!
So what you saying? 😂😂😂
First!!
those are some ugly clubs and you would be constantly cleaning mud out of those slots. anyone who knows golf wont buy these
Taylor made has had a similar slot on their clubs for years. The polymer is flush with the metal, so there really isn't a way for mud to get in.
