Wish I had a freightliner, the international can barely keep its speed with light loads and everything rattles haha

I work for Knight and I have a 2019 freightliner.. when I go to turn on the Opt Idle, I don't have the comfort mode option. My truck does not idle! It shuts off after 25-30 minutes regardless of the outside temperature. The shop "removed" the idle shutdown since I'm leasing but it still shuts off. How can you idle without Opt Idle. I just need AC so I can sleep without waking up in a pool of sweat 😓.

Probably sounds like a software issue might have to go to the dealer it should be under warranty if not ask swift to fix it other wise they might charge you

It will keep running if you leave the ac on in the bunk.

@@carlburst23 every truck should have a bunk heater IMO. They are cheap to have installed and cheap on fuel to use. Way cheaper than an APU or Opti-Idle.

opti idle only works with ac not heat.

so to keep the fridge on while parked for home time i need to keep opti idle on?

@@jimi3540 no you are supposed to take your stuff out & take it home leave the refrigerator door open so it doesn’t stink.

@@jimi3540 yes, comfort mode “off” is to allow the truck to crank and recharge the batteries as needed while you are away. So you DON’T have to take all your stuff out of your fridge/freezer.

@@chrisesparza8950 no I've learned since this post you can leave the fridge plugged up with opti idle on and comfort mode off

Opti idle acts like a home thermostat. So whatever you set the temp on the controls is where it’s going to keep the temp at inside the truck, compared to the outside temp. It will turn on and shut off as needed to maintain the temperature you have it set for. Coldest is 60 middle is 70, and highest is 80, with a total of 20 clicks on the knobs so you can set it for a SPECIFIC temperature. Imo an APU is better but freightliner is pushing these big time. It works good enough but like anything there are bugs to it. First off don’t just set it to the coldest setting and leave it. Tons of videos showing that if you do, it won’t work right and it will fault out and not run and you’ll have to cycle the key to restart it. You don’t really get a warning either, so you’ll wake up in a pool of sweat wondering why the truck shut off and didn’t restart. I suggest keeping it around 68-72, as most people are comfortable there. Factory setting puts it at 25 on the cold end and 90 on the hot end for continuous use, meaning truck won’t shut off at all outside those temps outside. So if your like me in AZ and it’s over 100 out then it’s going to run as of you were normally idling the truck, same on the cold end. Hope this helps others figure out how it works.
