Nah, Kaz, Bryan, Paul aren’t even in the same conversation as Victor, Lara, Alisa and the bears. It’s not Tekken 8, it’s the characters.
I don’t care how good feng and drag are, I prefer playing them ANY day over the ones mentioned above, cause at least I’m still playing Tekken.
I'd rather fight any character you mentioned over Hwoarang . Not countering Hwoarang properly means he traps you in infinite pressure the entire match and that's extremely obnoxious.

Started playing Alisa because she’s just a cute fun robot and the amount of hate mail I’ve gotten is insane. Sometimes I’ll take it easy on people because I’m a way higher rank and just try to have fun but when they win, they send me messages calling me trash, which makes me just wanna thrash my enemies and not take the game lightly at all. NGL it’s jaded me.

Clearly you guys didn't get to the end of the video cos I said keep playing the characters that make you happy and don't worry about people moaning at you. I'm an advocate for annoying people on games and Alisa is perfect for that, but obviously I am prone to being annoyed to (human, in case anyone didn't notice).
I'm also not part of the competitive community. I play Tekken on UA-cam. I might join a tournament if it's run by people I know or online, but that's about it.
Also, Alisa is widely considered to be a top tier atm lmao, and has been considered high tier since T7 season 4.

The issue with Johnny isn’t his plus frames, it’s just that no one else can truly contest him aside from Peacemaker, which makes MK1 dull.
That’s what I’ve been saying but the main narrative in mk1 is to just water characters down to make it fair to the casuals

As someone that plays Two Characters Hated by the Tekken Snobs, I can say that I really don't give a Flying Fuck what they think and enjoy playing and Versing both of them.
The trouble is that not everyone has a Thick Skin and feels pressured into playing an "Honest" aka "Boring to play" imo Character to feel accepted as a Tekken Player.
This is "Tekken" it is not "Mishimas, Bryan & Steve The Game" The sooner players accept that. The Happier we will all be.

I'm a Character Loyalist and have stuck with both of them ..... Zafina is Still my Main even though Alisa is Stronger in this Game.
The problem is, we’ll never be happy because your character isn’t fun to fight, Tekken is a game routed in martial arts, the anime shit by itself isn’t the bad part but it’s when you actively stop having fun purely because of the characters mechanics is when people have a problem, and just like how you’re right to not care about what people think of you, the people who play against unfun characters to fight are right to have 0 respect for people who play said characters. Just because you don’t mind fighting them that doesn’t apply to everyone

And no, if you're trying to enjoy playing a game and somebody plays a character that actively makes you not enjoy what you're trying to enjoy, you aren't obligated to have respect so it isn't sad and immature, to put it into perspective this is what it seems like. "You play this game to have fun, I'll play this character and ruin your fun but I don't care because I'm having fun myself. Respect me!" As I said in my original comment, the guys in question are free to not care about what people think of them, they can play the game wether they get respect or not, but the guys who are fighting them aren't obligated to respect them, that lack of obligation of respect comes from a logical place so I wouldn't say its sad or immature.

Completely agree. I mained Leroy since his release on 7 and i still do today. Gave me this label playing him only cuz hes busted when i just thought he was fun and cool. He was pure gimmick and cheese, but i never cared. Remember Cyrax in Mk9 or Fujin in 11? How much trash those players received lol. But finding the OPs takes so long. Ssbu took MKLeo to win Evo with P5 joker to make people realise he was a problem. Then he got nerfed.
My argument is when someone can program a bot to mash one button and you’re able to legitimately level up….that is brain dead and I don’t respect those characters

Funny thing about alisa is even though people are annoyed by her crazy chainsaw heat pressure, they would still be pissed on loss even if alisa player never used it.
Yeah, her whole moveset is lame in my opinion but the chainsaws make it even worse.

It's like God only gave certain people ears on this planet. I must have outlined in multiple times that there is an argument for Feng to be Top 1 but I think he floats in the Top 3. How can I think he floats in the Top 3 and also not think he's a problem character? And for the record, Lili has been hurting me since Tekken 5... Like almost every other character in Tekken.

Maybe I misunderstood what you mean by problem character because my idea of a problem character is a character who is extremely op like Day 1 Leroy in Tekken 7 or characters like the ones you mentioned in this vid (Alisa, Lars, Victor) because of their anime shenanigans that dont feel like Tekken. Pretty much characters that are unhealthy for the game. My bad for misunderstanding what you mean by it but just stating Lili is not a problem character. We can debate whether or not shes top/high tier (which i dont think she is) but thats a discussion for another time.....

But on a serious note, I got my own share of characters that I consider my own personal four horsemen of the apocalypse in fighting games: Athena from KOF, Ibuki from SF, and May and Elphelt from Guilty Gear. But it was moreso the players using them than the characters themselves that made them traumatizing to play against at the time.
In MK1, as much as I enjoy to play characters like reptile, scorpion, sub, and a few others, they will always get outclassed by characters like Johnny and Sindel. The only reason for this is that characters that are top tier in MK1 are the best for their archetypes while the low tiers are just worse. At launch, I used to main raiden because I was so excited to play him as his gameplay looked so complex and interesting. Sadly it was much more simple than I hoped but he was still fun until people started rage quitting in Kombat League and it wasn’t enjoyable. Just to find the game fun again, I went to main reptile, my second most anticipated character, but he’s either average or just bad compared to all the top tiers. Over time I’ve just started to lose respect for people playing the annoying top tiers because it’s all I see in Kombat League now. If all characters were just as powerful in their own special ways(Like Guilty Gear Strive) then I think I’d have equal respect for everyone and I’d actually have fair fights but we’re far from that.

I don't think people should complain about match ups in Tekken 8. Taking control of the replay to find options really helps. It seems people want the game to be easier by design rather than train. I just wish the online connection was better.
Me personally I wouldn’t hesitate to play whoever I want to play unless they are actually unplayable(mk1 sub), doesn’t matter whether their cheap af disgustingly strong or really weak

@@Iwisoks none taken my friend, thats fair I actually haven't, I watched his streams everyday for years, all the way since MKX, but this last year I've been too busy, tbf he has been done with how weak sub is since the game dropped, hopefully they will give him some buffs eventually, props to sik for sticking with him though and hopefully he doesn't go mad(as entertaining as it would be lol)
I would bet $100 that if he didn't stream the game for a living he would have quit a long time ago. The amount of people in the community who overrate sub zero and act like he's a strong character don't make it any better, especially when he's so bad even a casual bum like me can see what's wrong with him
I finally spent time to learn how to beat the bears. Now that I beat them more often, I can clearly see the people who main them are not actually good. They don’t rematch if they lose, or they just keep using the same flow chart since no one forces them to do anything else. It’s okay to play the bears, but I don’t like that it seems that most just want easy wins from knowledge checking everyone

I play and really like Victor as a character, and I completely understand the frustration when dealing with him. But I believe people should play whatever makes them feel happy or comfortable, even if it's Lucky Chloe, lol.

King mostly annoys noobs who don't know how to break throws yet. Meanwhile, I've never heard anybody say anything good about Alisa from people who don't play her, regardless of experience.
That's a really good point, and I haven't thought about it TBH. I rather fight any feng or drag, than victor, alisa and lars; they just made no sense in a msrtial art fighting game. Don't get me wrong, I hate Feng but the match is somehow fair, and with enough skill and knowledge you and win; but the other 3 are just annoying and makes me don't want to rematch.
Feng is annoying yeah, but a least you doesnt need to learn in which precise moment you have to press a jab to interrupt an specific stance.

Alisa, well, one time i SS the High attack of the Attack mode, when i went to punish onee tick of the chainsaw clipped me, i lost the punish, the round and my shit.
@Gideos549 it's not just about interrupting tho. Lars doesn't really have good frames on block aside from DEN 3, so alot of his offense is fake or can be punishedon block. Lars players also aren't afraid to use stuff that's punishable on block because they know that people don't want to lab the character. I understand that lars is annoying, but sometimes ya'll just continue to let lars press buttons even when it's your turn
I have a strong hatred for Bison, every time I see him it just reminds me of the money I lost trying to beat him in the sf2 cabinets, and whenever I lose to a bison it just brings that feeling right back
I actually enjoy playing against Alisa, because if I lose to her, I know 100% the loss is on me, either the player was better than me, or I just played it like a potato. As an Alisa player myself, I know the match-up, so the random shitty Alisa won't get away with anything, so for me, there's no reason to say she's cheap or anything.
Granted, for me, a "cheap" character is a character that can rob you even if you know the match-up, and Alisa isn't like that, if you know the match-up, she's got nothing and is the most fundamental character in the game, because the moment you know the match-up, all she has are pokes.

After DES f1+2 do a backdash, almost every single option will whiff. Backdash works against other options as well but against other moves you might need to backdash two or three times to cause a whiff.
Side step block will evade all moves that can be stepped while block the others, leaving you vulnerable only to lows, so start making reads.
3rd option you have when hit by things like DES d1 or you blocked DES f1, is a dickjab, you will trade with DES 1, which does almost no damage in that situation, and beat everything beside DES u/f1+2 as that's the only option that low crushes.
Alisa only deals "insane chip damage" if you stand there and take it, but you have multiple options to force her to respect you, or at the very least, take away her chainsws.

I have played Xiaoyu for 4 years (mained her from t7). And every second player calls her cheap and worries how I can lose on a broken character (or why I don't know that that combo is -13 or -12 on block).
It's easy to call any character cheap and never play him, but u'll never understand his downsides (for example, Ling in t7 was good only at evasion and setups (before 5.1), everything else was garbage).
P.S. btw Feng is cheap. He has almost everything (50/50, good pokes, strong ch play, evasion, fast safe mid homing, parries, stance pressure, and threatening oki play). And most of his key moves are above average. I don't see any weaknesses except the level of play and laziness of most Feng players
Fighting games are such a complicated beast. I was an Alex main in sf5 and boy did I complain about what I felt my boy Alex needed. Then I saw problem x play him in tournament and destroy even punk and i thought ....fml. Im just gonna shut up and try and understand the game better because clearly the problem was me and not Alex😂
As an enjoyer of the grappler archetype, I get so must disrespect. It's something about "if I respect your pressure you'll grab me." This just sounds like poor sportsmanship to me.
I like to switch up between rushdown, zoner, or grappler characters because I like variety in my gameplay. By default I always have to expect that if I don't pick a rush down character someone's going to bitch and moan regardless of whether the character is strong or weak. Some people just don't want to learn anything other than being 2 inches from each other, trying to mash interrupt.
@@rx.78 This was intended to be a joke but being 100% serious I think that we all have archetypes that we don't tend to respect. For a while I've hated projectile zoning but I've tried to play projectile zoners and I get it (except for the few zoners with auto tracking projectiles in anime games, actual red light/green light BS!).
@giantdinoboy8264 See I don't blame them because I was the same way. It took me making the effort to learn the other archetypes that made me appreciate them. Same with charge characters. Used to hate playing as them until I really decided to learn them and realize the problem was me, not the characters. I don't hate rush down at all, but I do hate the sort of "if it ain't rushdown it's cheap" mentality some people have.

Alisa has never made me want quit playing. The only characters that made me want to rage quit Tekken 7-8 was Kazuya, Jin, Kazumi, Asuka, Leroy, Azucena.

Literally cant play with one of my friends because he only plays Alisa, Xiaoyu, and eddy and leaves when I win even one match. And that is not a unique mindset in the Tekken community. Its no mystery why they get hate. Also they plug more often.

He and Akuma were my mains for my whole SF career and then when neither were in SF6 I slowly got tired and quit the game, but NOW I got BOTH the boys back in a month! This is the most fun I've ever had in SF, as a Tekken player I haven't touched Tekken since Akuma dropped lol, Im just having too much fun, with Bison coming back its gonna be insane!
I get alot of people like when all things in the game are op and frankly I can get it. But I just get frustrated out of my mind and much rather have the overall power celling to be lower.

it's pretty sad how a lot of people in the fgc think. tekken has never been a "honest" or fundamental only game. There has always been gimmicky characters in the game. tekken 1 we had yoshimitsu doing yoshi things. tekken 2 kazuya was the only character who could side step. kuma being kuma for all tekkens and more. i 100% understand that some characters are very annoying to fight against, but i hate it when people get mad at the player for playing them. its stupid. btw nice vid. 🔥

Tekken only started having "reasonable" balance in tekken 5 fated retribution Afterwards it was just getting more and more equal with pretty fair representation accross the board with a few pretty silly exceptions in every game, like Lars and Bob tekken 6 and Akuma and DLC of Tekken 7.
1:29 dang that was a good come back. normally the game does not allow players to 3 stock they end up losing on the 2nd round.
I mained Geras and Kano in MK11. I loved Sub-Zero through all my life cause he was cool ninja with ice powers, but completely avoided him in MK11 cause he became busted as hell one day. On the other hand, Geras was strong and got nerfed into oblivion, but the amount of salt I got in the voice chat could fill the Black Sea.
I honestly think you can see in the gameplay who is a true tierwhore. For example, most Dragunov mains know those long wall to wall combos cause they never skip a JDCR stream, but their fundamentals are ass. Or Devil Jins who dive kick themselves to death.
Picking a main is like picking a new pair of shoes. If you like them visually and they are comfortable - it just clicks. But having shoes like everyone else also sucks.
I don't think any one character can be carried passed blue ranks. Once you get there, you deserve some type of credit no matter who you play with or how you get the wins. Coming from Kazuya main. With that being said, Alisa and Lars are annoying as hell at any rank.
They are not less valid, but you get to Rank easier, than players who dont use them.
For example Victor player pre patch, fujin on 3 moves, as new payer can get it in 3 months while new player as Brian maybe never.
For feng, king, dragunov etc, the road is easier, doesnt mean wins are less valid
Everyone from Maximilian_Dude, Sajam, Kizzie, and even Juyuna have said over and over again "Pick who you want to pick; Play who you want to play!"
Don't worry about tier lists and what "FGC Pros" have to say, because you aren't them or anywhere near their level.
And even if you were, who cares? The pros play who they want to play so why can't you

The problem isnt that characters are weak, the problem is that some characters are just stronger or far more effective.
I main hwoarang and almost everything i do is a huge risk for little reward. Meanwhile you have fengs, brians, ninas, laws, dragunovs and more just chipping the life out of me from safety. They're Low risk with a moderate reward.
In my opinion, thats what seperates the top tier characters from the rest.
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it's a bit hypocritical to tell people to play or hate whichever characters they do but then immediately take the hard stance of "If you only want to play one match with me then don't talk to me".
Like, maybe people just find the way you play frustrating. Don't fault the people for that, you don't know and can't mind read why they decided they didn't want to rematch. I am speaking from the heart here, I am an Astaroth main in SC. I am USED to that process.

You said feng is hard to play and if he wasn’t there would be more representation online and in tournaments.. but then you said when people say Lars isn’t top tier because he isn’t winning any tournaments, that tournament play and success isn’t a good excuse .. when you just used it as an excuse for your character 😂😂 we work just as hard! Love the video though man. And I agree with you people should just play who they want and who they like. I play Alisa from the moment I picked tekken 6 (after some time). Not sure why, probably anime or some other stuff. And she was my one of the most played characters since. Even in Tekken 8. Is she strong? Yes, but I think heat system and chip made her way agressive, like many other characters.
I play Xiaoyu and Hwoarang, but I don't play online it's not easy playing as Xiaoyu or Hwoarang there are some characters in the game I hate playing against. I get floated too much by them. Computer or ghost battle, it's just hard to win against them... Jin is a pain. I only play Xiaoyu and Hwoarang they are the only characters I like to play because I like their style of play. That's just how it is, I tried to play Leo but it messed up my Xiaoyu combos so badly that I gave up on Leo

I've dealt with this exact problem. I started the game (first Tekken ever) and picked Dragunov off of vibes (and characters repeating voice lines when doing moves is annoying to me). Did some matches with my friends: complaints, complaints, complaints. I switched to Leroy, who then got massively buffed and got called a bandwagon whatever-the-fuck. One time I was playing MK1 ranked as Baraka. I was fighting this dude who wasn't bad. I thought we were having a good match until he beat me and started tea bagging. I told him "c'mon man, you didn't have to do that" and he replied with something like " screw you, you play Baraka". And then he left
I was flabbergasted. Especially since that was only my second day playing Baraka online.
Mane idgaf about more people playing Paul . He still is not an auto win character . He has an over reliance on out playing the opponent. If you’re picking him up expecting easy wins past blue ranks people are in for a rude awakening . And besides . Paul was #1 character in NA for all 4 seasons in T7 I believe . He’s the strongest in the universe for a reason .
I don’t play any of these games but I play game and watch in smash and the hatred towards that character kinda applies to this video
My 2 mains are Bryan and Alisa, according to some people, the hardest and easiest character in the game 😂
And yeah, I definitely feel like I don't need to work as hard to get wins with Alisa, but I still think she's fun to use. She has chainsaws, and chainsaws are cool 🤷♂️
Play who you like, who cares about character strength
I was actually surprised that everyone celebrated Paul getting big buffs - I just assumed everyone found him as annoying as I did - but I think that’s because Nina’s specific matchup against him felt and still feels really weird to me so I had a skewed view of him.
Basically I was just getting stomped by Pauls, and other lower level Tekken players also told me their Nina was specifically getting stomped by Paul the most, so I said “maybe this is just a low level problem” and went and looked up how pro players approached the matchup and lo and behold, they were either A) playing Nina how I think of Nina and just getting destroyed by Paul or B) playing extremely “lame”/turtling and just eking out wins with godlike levels of patience. (which I appreciate but if I wanted that playstyle I’d go with a character that felt like they were designed with that in mind, instead of the square peg-round hole feeling of playing Nina like Claudio.) Conversely I don’t complain about zoners like Homelander in MK1, but I play Mileena, so…
I guess if I had to make a big point out of all that, it’s that people usually don’t get annoyed by characters in a vacuum; they get annoyed about that character while playing their own character, which generally is still their own problem but also just affects the perception of those characters in weird ways. However there’s also the total opposite as with the Feng example which I 100% agree about - it feels like the people who complain about him very rarely are the ones who would actually experience first hand what makes him top 3. Honestly I felt the same way about Jacqui in MK11 - she was absolutely really good, but the people who would say “carried” about her wins never seemed to really have anything specific/valid to criticize about her moveset which I always found odd. Compare that to day one Sheeva? Yeah, you could absolutely pinpoint what there was to criticize about her, although some people complained less - if you played Terminator and labbed his teleport move then even pre nerf you probably didn’t have much to complain about. Just going back to the original point I wanted to make about Paul vs Nina.
Actually, I want to go back to MK11 again for a second because I think there are more interesting aspects of “characters people hate” there.
So in the first year or so of the game, Scorpion was public enemy no. 1. I find him interesting because what made him annoying at low levels (eg overhead/low mix) was like the polar opposite from what made him omnipresent at higher levels (teleport cancels). In fact a different variation entirely.
So anyway he got nerfed and was quickly replaced as the widely perceived best character by Liu Kang who in 11 was basically a shoto. Liu Kang was absolutely less obnoxious than prenerf Scorpion, but still very strong for very visible reasons. However I don’t think the hate for Liu was really just because people hated fighting him - it was because people hated fighting him THAT OFTEN. When a character is the strongest and ALSO easily accessible, you start seeing that character way more than you’d prefer and it can just get really tedious. And then the aspects of the character that make them strong just stick out more and more.
That’s why the Feng and Jacqui complaints stick out to me even more. Like, none of the above really applies to them. They’re not super accessible, or at least what makes them top tier isn’t, so they’re not over represented (like Johnny in MK1 and Liu Kang in MK11). There’s not one particular thing that makes them obnoxious at levels below pro play (like Sheeva or Alisa). It just feels like more of a mob mentality thing… or something? I don’t know what exactly.
Very good analysis imo and I agree with you tbh. Low effort high reward and over exposure to characters that grant this drive people mad. I think that's why people hated Sub Zero in MK11 so much. He was super easy and did too much that required too little from the player.
@@RealMikeHollow Right, and I think frankly, there’s also a personality problem. I think it’s just a fact that there is a certain type of player who most people (including even that type of player) dislike fighting against, who are an inevitability in any fighting game or frankly anything competitive (or even cooperative based on what friends who play MMOs tell me lmao). They tend to pick characters that they believe will either give them many easy wins, or for a subtype of this player, will guarantee them every win with some effort.
So for example, if you played against a prenerf Sheeva in MK11, you knew what type of person you were probably about to play against, and even if you had all the counterplay in the world (again, Terminator) fighting the _person_ is likely to be unpleasant whether they win (because their “one thing” worked) or lose (because their one thing didn’t work and it was all they had). I mean, we know the type: they probably teabag when they win, and they probably disconnect when they lose. Now when I say “they” I mean the player, not Sheeva, which kind of illustrates the point I wanted to make - it’s often inevitable that people begin to associate that character with that personality type, which is why people begin to just hate that character, because it’s sort of a representation of the unpleasantness of fighting that type of player. Sheeva’s reputation never recovered even when she was nerfed to be, in my opinion, easily the worst character in the game (people won tournaments with Rambo, nobody even entered tournaments with Sheeva after she was nerfed).
So from there, now I wonder if that’s where the dismissal of people who play characters like Feng and Jacqui comes from. I think lower level players hear higher level players talk about “this character is busted, best in the game, etc” and they just assume if you pick that character you must be that type of person. In my experience that’s not true at all - a character can be the best in the game at a high level but if they’re still tricky to use, the aforementioned type of player most likely isn’t going to use them.
Of course with “tricky” characters you do run into another type of unpleasant player, who believes that because they picked a character that they think “requires skill” then there’s something wrong with either the game or the person when someone is beating them with a less “tricky” character. They’re likely to talk about “honor” or some variation of the term, and can be just as obnoxious. LTG and DSP, of course. I think in Smash they’re called Johns? Anyway that type of player is why I didn’t want to just reduce the problem to “toxicity” because toxicity takes many forms.
@@RealMikeHollow Also I agree and think SonicFox summed up most players’ issue with MK11 Sub Zero when he was doing a tier list at one point (I’m paraphrasing): “Sub Zero is good, not great, but good. I’ll put him in A tier. …well, unless it’s an online match. Then he becomes S+ tier. Top 3 for sure, maybe best in the game. But offline, he’s mid.” 😂 I will say that it creates a bit of a dilemma for balancing teams when characters have a tactic that’s decent against pro players but OP against 99% of people, but I think if the extra frame or two of reactability online, or frankly any single move/mixup is the entire difference between a character being mid tier vs top 3, that’s a sign that maybe the character just needs to be rebalanced. Give a decently large nerf to their most annoying tool and then give a ton of little buffs to a bunch of their decent things. People who dread fighting that character will appreciate it and the people who actually play the character will appreciate having stronger tools in place of relying on a single move. Win/win.
I’ve actually never played Marduk before because I didnt buy his DLC. I’ll have to try him out this time

I feel the same towards those 3 characters you mentioned. On top of the gameplay gimmicks, they also don't feel like tekken characters conceptually, particularly Victor and Alisa, cos of weaponry (Yoshi is an exception cos a Katana is a martial arts weapon at least). I already deeply hate the use of weapons in MK, which has grown exponentially, so seeing that tendency appear in Tekken too is a bad sign. Same goes for Nina: can they just trash her gun?
People don't like strong gimmick characters.
And when they didn't hate them they think they are boring or something.. example leo my main , although im not too good but i noticed some people hate to rematch my character xd or idk the reason.. or u meet those who fight for he or she word, i like nice people who don't care what u call him. Also we already have Julia or whatever her name as female adventurer or lara croft style , i think having leo as a young boy adventurer would be better than being a female if we talk about gameplay style its has fun moves .
Prepare to face cheese if playing a fighting game. Every character has cheese, the more obvious ones will always be made fun of like fang. Can it be dealt with? Yes, but people want to play their way and not in a different way when facing off against these characters. Don't take the game so seriously that you stop playing a character you like. If pros don't have enough pride to stick to a "honest" character should you?
As for fang not being cheap he has stupid evasion that can be just as bad as lars movements if you don't know how to deal with it. The same can be said about multiple characters.

Lol as a Claudio main I always thought I was safe from the whole "oh you're carried therefore your wins are not as impressive" thing but now I'm hearing people screaming for nerfs of Claudio which is honestly the most infuriating thing ever... Claudio is mid tier at best. I sometimes wonder how well these people would do if they switched over to the character theyre bitching about.... I was one of those people once and then I switched over to Shaheen to see how easy it is to get wins, and to my surprise, I still actually had to try and win the game. No win is ever free.
Two reasons why I use King is because i like grapplers and most importantly....

I’m a Steve player who plays a handful of other characters but can’t no one say anything about a character who’s best moves are easily ducked, or out frames and who has no reliable lows. And I hate Steve mirror matches but against the rest of the cast it’s def an uphill battle.
I main Johnny Cage and a lot of people get on the mic to just bash and complain (whether they win or lose) but honestly MK1 was the first Mortal Kombat game where I got to play on release and instantly just enjoyed Johnny’s playstyle. I don’t like being a crazy zoner. I love being in your face. In Tekken 8 I main Lars and he’s not that great. People just love complaining about losing. I’m going to keep playing my characters.
Certain characters always going to be more op better than other characters been like that for a long time with fighting games especially guest characters

I haven't gotten any messages from Tekken players (Thank God lmao) but its strange, I've never looked at characters as carrying people or as too strong...until Tekken 8. I've been playing Paul since Tekken 3 and Feng since he debut in Tekken 5, so I look at them as my legacy main & secondary. I will say that I find it weird that people will just switch to a character because they got buffed. I don't care how bad Paul is in a game or how good he is, thats my main. I'm not going to switch to someone else because they got buffed, I find it so strange when people do that. I know people want to win but damn stand on business and show people whats up with your character not the flavor of the month. I do feel a bit weird using Paul now because he got buffed because people might think I'm on the bandwagon, I will say though I have never thought Paul needed buffs in any Tekken. He's missing some mix up tools in my opinion but he's strong enough, that new way he can dash into his new stance looks so out of place lol, its like someone modded them game.
Tekken is very prone to people going "You're carried" if they go up against either top tiers or characters that they don't know the match-up for (especially Xiaoyu, Hwoarang, Lei, Yoshi, etc.). I still get flack from people who say I got carried by Lili, cuz she is strong atm and can have unga bunga moments. Especially as you played against me recently Mike, you can attest to it, but I rarely even play like that and more focus on my fundamentals, reading my opponent, and playing mind games on my opponent with 50/50s, even dropping a round winning combo just to mix them up. Hearing stuff like "You were carried" is not only very funny but very mildly annoying cuz I find it disrespectful
I’m definitely attracted to top tier characters but that’s usually because they have things I like and/ need
I really like Quan Chi in MKX for instance cause he’s got high damage, a strong mixup game and keep away tools
In my short playtime so far with Tekken 8 Victor has been my favourite character but again that’s cause he’s got tools I like, don’t know if he’s still top tier but I was playing with some people at MCM last month and they said that Victor will carry me if I ever decide to plunge into the hellhole that is ranked

People get mad about Xiaoyu a lot too but I really only play her because I like her and I know her from way back in Tekken 3. Playing her in Tekken 7 didn't feel all that rewarding so it felt really good getting Tekken 8 Xiaoyu. And it still does. I get mad about King a lot. Even when I win, it's just annoying to sit through all these animations. Lars is a bit like that too.

@9:42 I wouldn't even argue it's the player's fault, but really the community's fault for not enough people playing the character. I don't play Zafina so I can't say much either, but whenever I do fight her I don't mind losing since it feels fresh fighting them once in a blue moon.
Although I'm a Zafina main, my win rate is definitely NOT high. I have to work a lot harder to win. And this is coming from playing Raven. She's not that strong compared to the others. But as a Zafina main, it makes me play actual tekken, that means, better defense, better counters, and side stepping, throw escaping etc. I'm lose a lot, but I'm becoming a lot better at fundamentals as a Zafina player than I would've with anyone else. Probably my best decision on a character so far. Imo

Used to think this way too, until I realized that...nobody owes you a rematch. If you win, take your points and move on, and if you lose, take the L and move on. Getting pissed about it is stupid because you will literally be in another match faster than you can complain about the previous one.

You're never OWED a rematch. FGC really needs to get that out of their heads, its a gentlemen agreement thats not enforced in anyway. Maybe you should argue for ranked specifically to be best of 9 instead of having 3 best of 3 sets.

Ngl, i enjoy when people are annoyed with my main(lars)😂. If you don't respect lars, then it is what it is. I know because I main lars(and hwoarang) people won't listen to anything I have to say, but I think it's kinda wrong to say lars is cheap and braindead, but he is annoying tho. In the end, tekken players will complain about any character that they lose to regularly, so I can't really take anyone's opinion seriously in this game.
