The issue of geolocation has been mentioned by someone else (turn off WiFi and bluetooth). Great video. Are there any other tips for avoiding to be caught by the employer if the WireGuard routers are used ? Public VPN services have known IP ranges. It is possible for your company to detect that you are using a VPN. A better approach is to rent a server in a city near your normal home location and install a VPN on it. That way it won't have a publicly known IP.

I need to do this but without taking my work laptop with me overseas. Any recommendations for a discrete remote software or method to connect to the work laptop (which will be left in the US) from my personal laptop (which will be with me overseas)?
I heard this exact content, almost word for word, on another blogger's video
can you show me? i'm curious
Yeah, a lot of digital nomads are spreading the word now. It gets views that’s for sure.
but how you deal with the issue of having a local sim? Boss is calling on your phone or writing you a text
Quick question. So, im working fot a call center where o take inbound calls. Im using my own computer and my work is web based, i don't have to download anything.
I'll be moving to the Philippines with my gf, and im moving from the US. Would this same thing work or is there anything else you'd recommend?
Also, what's the purpose of the router connected to another router? I wont be at coffee shops and such, I'll just be at my home in the Philippines
If you don’t need to hide your location from your company then you wouldn’t need this setup. If you do then you need 2 routers so the one with you overseas etc. can connect to the one back at home to make it look like you are still working in your original residence. There are 3rd party VPNs you can use for select cities but some IT departments can identity those IP addresses are from a vpn. Wireguard client/home server connection shows a an original ip address in the area of where you live so you company is none the wiser where you are in the world.
my company actually would let me work in foreign countries for about 90 days out of a year....do i need to work with a visa if im planning on traveling and working in diff countries for like a month at a time??
Lol you will need a Visa to go to certain places yes…it all depends on you country of birth and where you traveling to
Hi! I can have the large modem im the USA connected to rhe router. But i can bring the small one to a different country to work on Zoom? Is the internet faster this way instead of having a travel router and VPN?
say i buy the express vpn aircove router and leave that at home while traveling Abroud, how do i connect my travel router say the 1800 to the vpn aircove router i left home using that as my main ip adress?
Do you offer this as a service I need help ASAP I have both routers
Quick question: I use HVD access via VMware Horizon Client on my MacBook Pro. I can manage my own MacBook Pro setting the way, I want. The only question I had, if I use Nord VPN with kill Switch will my employer still find out? I work at the bank with very high security measurements. Let me know your thoughts?
I know you have a guide in the travel desciption but would have been helpful to show step by step- Non technical people tend to learn more by watching others at work or social media
the guide is step by step very basic
I'm guessing you're doing site-to-site vpn. I'll be trying this soon as well
Brother do you know more about this
Hey, the company I work for gave a VPN (HP USB-C Dock G5), will I be able to do what you what you are talking about here?
not sure what a dock usb c dock would do to change what this router does
Will a regular VPN work? Or do you need specifically a travel router like you showed?
it depends on what your goals are and how strict your company is. or on how safe you want to be.
what kind of job lets you work remotely like that?
Hey tge company I work for has me log in through a private VPN, and I purchased tge express vpn air cove and everytime I log 8n it boots me out, is your method different from mine
Does your vpn have all the correct FIPS encryptions? if not that can cause some connection issues.
Did you figure it out?
It is probably using a known VPN IP range.
The hardest thing is a job that lets you work remotely the rest is easy
Are you available for connect for advice? Bought the 2 items you recommended (Flint 2 Home Router and
Slate Travel Router) and am trying to figure out how to set these up and all the right steps to take.
i made a guide for it if you’re still looking
@@techbrehyea, where is it? Can you share a link or directions to find it?
@@SpunAngel its in the video description
So what are the jobs?
So this setup only works if you use a US home base correct?
It works for any country.
Could all this be bypassed with a VPN? Nord, Express ect?
Wait - why does the employer care if you’re traveling or not? My employer only told me I need a wired connection. They never banned traveling.
Some only want their data staying within the U.S. If you work remotely overseas and don’t have this setup then you are using servers of the country you traveled to and that could be problematic.
How can I contact you for assistance?
i made a guide recently
I have to be wired with a Ethernet since I work in healthcare. How can I do that being that I need a Ethernet?
the travel router has an ethernet port
yeaaaa boiiiiiiiii Tim Ferris the goat. Get it my G
What’s your opinion on the Mango travel router?
just looked at it. it only does 100mbs, i personally would just spend more since it will last you a while
Thanks for this so much this helped
How has this worked out for you? is this something you're still doing? any resources you can recommend?
yes I still do this - I talk about it more on my tiktok @afksosa
@@techbrehis it possible to connect a work computer with a work vpn to pne router? Then connect that router to a US vpn without a second router at home in the US?
I need help in setting this up. Anyone able to assist?
Can I do the same thing using the office ethernet connection to appear like I am using the office network while abroad?
thats a crazy idea - maybe if you hide the router somewhere
@@techbreh yes I can hide the router it is just a matter that IT cannot detect it. Is it possible?
@@Mmz322 not sure to be honest, depends how strong your company network is - pretty sure if someone were to look it might show that there is an unknown router connected
I hope your boss doesn’t see this video
How did you do this with routers? My company laptop is remote managed and I can't download normal VPN like Nord, etc. (it's restricted)
You won't download it on the device, you download Nord onto to the router itself then hardwire in. This way you're not downloading any files
I had a remote job. Tried using vpn on router and everything was ok until i realised the company had a inhouse vpn and security programme okta verify which i couldnt bypass
Anyone have a solution?
zscaler?
Great video. Are there any other tips for avoiding to be caught by the employer if the WireGuard routers are used ? Someone in the IT department can notice a large ping from a network VPN-connected device and run a traceroute command which will detect that it goes through international internet service providers, yet the IP address will still look US local. If there's a power outage at the US-based router (I plan on having a backup router in another state), will I be notified that the node is down or will the laptop fail to connect to internet ? Any other things to watch out for that you've experienced ? Thanks
Don't really know anything about IT tracing you via ping. I guess if they really want to catch you then they will. You can tell if your VPN is offline when you try to connect your travel router. The only backup I really have is that I have wireguard also set up on my phone. If everything fails you can blame your ISP or use all your sick days and go home lol.
@@techbreh Thanks for the response. Do you also happen to know if you're outside the US for so long that when it's tax season the US gov will require my company to complete forms/pay fines because one of their employees has spent longer than X days outside American grounds ? I've heard this to be a big problem with not wanting people to work abroad long-term
@@techbreh👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿🤣🤣🤣🤣 FACTS!! USE SICK LEAVE!!😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Bro you should add the link to you other video so its easy to find it
which video?
How would someone deal with 2fa while doing this :(
have VPN on your phonae
@ so if I bring an external VPN for my laptop I just connect my phone to that also and do 2fa like normal?
Why is this setup better than using a service like NordVPN?
I answer this question on my tiktok
Public VPN services have known IP ranges. It is possible for your company to detect that you are using a VPN. A better approach is to rent a server in a city near your normal home location and install a VPN on it. That way it won't have a publicly known IP.
@@LiMuBai You can do either (physical server or a virtual server in the cloud). My recommendation is to use a cheap shared server in the cloud such as with Linode and then run a VPN server on that. That way if the server goes down it can be brought back up again without anyone having to physically access it.
@@tnetroP No company really audits this stuff. I worked at several big 4s and even they don't audit it and they have the most stringent rules of any company.
What jobs can I apply for ?
Huh. 4 hour work week is primarily about delegating job tasks to others cheaply. Not sure I see the relevance. The content about automating income streams isn’t about working full stop. What employer is checking your home IP address?
Hey, i am about to travel and i just got employed, i will get my equipment (PC) shipped to me, i will get it then travel, is there any recommendations or additional tips ?? Because i am really nervous about it 😂
how did it go bud
The first thing you need to do, is bring food from home with you, so the router will think you are still at home
Brother pls how can I have your contact need to discuss this with you
Are you still having a problem connecting to the VPN?
