The game plays like danganronpa but has time travel and multiple endings featuring many plot twists, that only an anime could beat, which is a good thing it also has an anime adaption, but not only that, but multiple spinoffs including a dating sim, non canon short stories, demake, and a racing game. ok not that last one but still very hype stuff

I know you already know this, just commenting for people who check replies because it builds off what you said.The SciADV and SciVN games all pick some real world stuff to base their science on. For example Steins;Gate uses the theories from the John Titor hoax, and the 12 theories of time travel, while Occultic;Nine uses a lot of Nikola Tesla’s theories.

@@matthewvillanueva4420 nope, it’s part of SciVN, a sister series. Anonymous;Code will probably be set in the same universe as Occultic;Nine. SciADV exists as VNs in SciVN though.
@@andreworders7305 SVN (Science Visual Novel) is no longer a thing. It changed from being a thing, to being Chiyomaru's official name for the series in the west, to promptly everyone (including the publishers) ignoring that and just continuing to call it Science Adventure. Occultic;Nine and Anonymous;Code are in the same universe, somehow. We don't exactly know how yet. We're still waiting for Occultic;Nine New World for some of that info.
The rest of the SciADV series is underrated as hell, despite all being as good, if not better, than S;G
S;G even has the worst side material, but damn, that anime really did get them milking it

Though to be fair, S;G had Octet, which is pretty cool.

My Darling's Embrace is really enjoyable if you ask me, I like it way more than Linear Bounded Phenogram (Some routes of LBP are just boring imo, I just wanted them to end quickly like Daru's, Suzuha's or Faris').
People just dislike it's Slice of Life, but it helps you appreciate the characters way more.
@@johntitor2020 Nah, C;C LCC has some really important developments in the plot and stuff. Though many of the events don't really work well with how the characters were presented in C;C, so it kinda evens out.
Personally, I was kinda bored out while playing MDE, after about the Kurisu route. I thought it was just that I didn't like reading that much anymore, but going through R;NE shows that it isn't the case. It (R;NE) has the best SoL, to be honest.
By the way, friendly reminder that Robotics;Notes is finally out (and that it takes place in the same universe as S;G, as many other games people miss out on)

Steins;Gate is probably my favorite VN of all time and got me into the genre, and though it was pretty controversial 0 was incredible imo, definitely added to the original ending of the VN.
18:08 Steins;Gate 0 is SciADV 5. They made 3 games (Chaos;Head, Steins;Gate, and Robotics;Notes), and then gave them all sequels (Chaos;Child, Steins;Gate 0, and Robotics;Notes DaSH). Wonder if we’ll get threequels now? The series also has a sister series called Science Visual Novel, which includes the Occultic;Nine books and the Anonymous;Code VN.

Also help I've been trying to get my friend to watch S;G for like a year and a half and he went and watched the DGR anime why would he watch an anime adaptation of a visual novel instead of anime adaptation of a visual novel that's one of the most critically acclaimed anime of all time
It's very possible due to him not bother to catch up the series.
Or just not in their best interest. I have never watch stein gate myself, but honestly, I don't have interest in it. If I ever want to, I would probably go play chaos head first, before going to steins gate. Just slowly go through the series.
But for now, not in my best interest.

I just finished Steins gate years after watching this video and didn't know you archived it. I was searching for it and thought I had gone crazy. How did it's existence stick in my head so well? No idea.
Great video! You definitely covered a lot of what there is to the S;G sub series very well! Considering you said you love how risky the series is with all the many things it does that could easily fuck up and ruin the series, I'd highly recommend you look into the other "semi-colon games" (they're properly know as the rest of the Science Adventure series), because they're equally risky if not moreso. Chaos;Head is the best place to start as it also recontextualizes a lot of Steins;Gate OG's story and it's the foundation for the rest of the games outside of Steins;Gate.

If you are interested in reading other entries in the "semicolon series" (real name Science Adventure), Chaos;Head is a MUST READ. It's the first game in the series and the non-Steins;Gate games rely on it. Steins;Gate is the exception because it's about time travel and the vast majority of it takes place in "non-canon" worldlines. Even though the events of Chaos;Head also took place on those worldlines, they're not relevant to Okabe's journey like they are to the other games. Chaos;Head is not available in English, but there are many guides to getting the fan translation patch working. Plus, a translation for the greatly expanded re-release, Chaos;Head Noah, is in the works with a dedicated team.
Both the Robotics;Notes games came out in English earlier this week (!) and even though I have barely any time, I've enjoyed reading the original Robotics;Notes so far! It takes place in 2019, so there's this weird disconnect because it was written in 2012. Western fans are only just now playing it and it's set in the past for us! But the translation uses modern slang so it feels like it was written recently (which it kind of sort of was?)! It might also feel weird because it really nailed the integration of AR into modern life (filters, geotagging, etc.). I suppose it wouldn't be all that difficult to predict in 2012; my memory is shot and I actually didn't get a smartphone until 2013, so I'm not sure how advanced filters were back then... I don't think Snapchat was a thing, and Facebook had just recently bought Instagram, right? It's weird seeing a cat-ear filter in the game that the 2012 writers probably thought was a super cool and near-futuristic demonstration of the tech, and living in 2020 where yeah, that kind of thing is actually omnipresent.
We will be getting more Steins;Gate 10th anniversary news next Sunday (the 25th). Chiyomaru has said the 9th project will be "mind-blowing," but it's best not to get your hopes up. I'm guessing it will be news about Steins;Gate 0 Elite (hooray... remember that's supposedly a thing?).

Found myself decently surprised at your knowledge of the series despite the at times obnoxious presentation, good job there. That being said, there are a few misconceptions still:
Just a prefacing comment - If you get the games on PC, which is generally speaking the recommended experience, make sure to also look out for a patch made by the team known as the Committee of Zero. These generally tend to add an extra bit of polish to the game, and are with some games (like ChäoS;Child) required for the game to be completeable without a guide.
0:46 - 8-BIT ADV STEINS;GATE (known in Japan as FamicolleADV Steins;Gate) is a separate story altogether. Which it seems like you found out, so I don't really understand why you called it a demake of the original story in the first place.
1:03 - It's not that complicated. Steins;Gate is the second mainline entry into the Science Adventure series. That's all you need to think about. Occultic;Nine is a different beast and can in its current state be ignored.
If we wanna be pedantic, Steins;Gate is the wrong relation to bring up Einstein in, considering he'd be more appropriate to bring up when speaking about ChäoS;HEAd.
3:03 - Her canonical hair colour is Chestnut Red, the one seen in the original visual novel with art by huke. Not the one seen in Steins;Gate Elite, which is based off the anime. This is referenced in her @channel handle, actually. KuriGohan_and_Kamehameha. In a fan-translation, KuriGohan was translated as Chestnut Rice.
3:43 - I will never get foreigners calling everthing that isn't a danish a danish.
4:04 - Linear Bounded Phenogram isn't canon. It's also not called the Future Laboratory. It's called the Future Gadget Laboratory. They don't call their devices "Futures". They call them "Future Gadgets".
6:17 - Found the anime viewer :^) - The watch being broken thing is a anime-only thing.
7:42 - I guess this is relative, but eh? Steins;Gate isn't really a long VN. Certainly not compared to other entries.
9:14 - Casual true end spoiler drop. The pin is only owned by Suzuha for most of the game. The other lab mems only get it in the true ending.
15:07 - It's not *actually* a Dating Sim. It's a parody of a Dating Sim. Chiyomaru has a habit of doing these after his games. He did the same for Chaos;Head and Chaos;Child with their respective Love Chu Chu titles. Speaking of which, I'd recommend reading Chaos;Head before Darling.
15:50 - Kurisu and Okabe are more or less OTP, but I swear to god Kurisu's route was the worst of all of them in the game.
16:38 - It's the same length as the original, which, I guess, again, is relative.
17:42 - Divergencies Assort isn't even that good of a deal. You're missing the original VN there. S;G0 is there, but not the original S;G.
18:21 - "I won't spoil the ending", only to show footage from the prologue of 0... which spoils the ending of the original, nice. It also isn't a what-if thing. Steins;Gate 0 (both VN and anime) both need to happen for Okabe to reach the Steins Gate. The Committe of Zero patch is highly recommended for 0, as it fixes a lot of typos and inconsistencies with the original.
19:48 - It's less like a circle, and more like a 0, lol.
20:33 - Both the anime and VN are required. The anime is flawed, but so is the VN. But they make up for each others' flaws.
21:00 - Yes. Wayy too many. We get them on the subreddit every few weeks to a month.

S;G Elite is the interior version.
@@leonardoreis4308 That's correct. In fact, features-wise Robotics;Notes Elite might well be the pinnacle of the whole series. The original is already the most interactive game of the bunch, and this version is mostly the original 3D art style, with scenes from the anime sometimes included where they provide better visual context. Nothing in common with S;G Elite which does basically nothing other than cut content all over the place.

I only have one complaint with this review RamZaes. Part of this game's mechanics as a VN, is usage of save scumming. Generally, saving will also be a major factor in this game.
