CHRIS! I OWE YOU ONE
ARE YOU OKAY?
I adore re5. My uncle bought it for me for my birthday when I was a kid; he lived far away and I never saw him. We played all of re5 coop online both me and his brother (other uncle) he knew the game like the back of his hand and showed me all kinds of cool stuff weird glitches, new guns ect ect. He passed away from cancer last year; I love you Michael, I miss you. I won't ever forget our time together.
o7 rest in peace uncle Michael.
Sorry for your lose dude I’m glad u got them good memories though
Damn RIP to your uncle bro, at least you have those good memories to think of and reminisce, he's watching you from up there.
Good uncle.

Fun fact: Re 5 has the same director as Re 2 Remake and Re 4 Remake. Yasuhiro Anpo.
We are so ready for Re 5 Remake.
I would really love an RE5 remake where they make it a bit more survival horror like
@@RaphaelAmbrosiusCosteau yeah, no.

Sheva being left handed and cycling the bolt by rotating the starting rifle and reaching over was one of the most mind blowing little aspects at the time
That was one of the things I really liked about Sheva's design as well. I thought that the weapon models and animations were just mirrored until I picked up an MP5.
That, along with the buddy vibes she just gave off almost all the time. The devs didn't need to do much with dialogue, since cooperative play is so baked into the gameplay loop, but it definitely made me feel like she's someone's who's got my back.
When playing the game co-op i always insisted on being Sheva for the novelty of it.
@@cikame Same but for the animal print bikini.
Damn I never even noticed that.
@@Gggmanliveson the bright side, you can make another RE5 video down the line. I'd watch it 🤙
Fun fact: the voice actor of Chris played Ezio Auditore from Assassin’s Creed, Batman in Arkham Origins, and currently plays Sonic the Hedgehog. His name is Roger Craig Smith.
I played Assassin's Creed Brotherhood at the same time as RE5 back then and didn't realized that !
RE5 has the BEST version of the main cast. Chris, Jill, and Wesker all look and sound their absolute best ever 👍😎👍
I still miss him voicing Chris :'(
And Crane from Dying light.
Any Hi-Fi Rush fans out there, he also plays Kale.

I think the most memorable line from this game was Wesker saying: "Humanity requires judgement!" with Chris then retorting: "and you're going to judge us, is that it? do you get all your ideas from comic book villains?!" (the last part being my favorite)
I usually roll my eyes at Capcom's cliche dialog but that one made me chuckle
Lamp shading done correctly is always a treat
My friends and I still quote "complete global saturation"
And then in marvel vs capcom wesker does work with comic book villains 😂
The most memorable moment for me was Chris punching a boulder
I remember reading the RE5 art book/strategy guide that said the reason Chris was so jacked was because he wanted to be in peak physical shape to fight wesker.
In a world where everyone is making literal freak-beast BOWs, hitting the roids is pretty reasonable actually
Like Batman
@@chasethecolors chris heard t-virus and thought it meant tren
@@showtime1235Chris would be unstoppable with the tren-virus
But....Chris doesn't know Wesker is still alive until halfway through the story...
Coop aspect was such a game changer
Re5 was one of my first resident evils and probably my favorite. The memories me and my brothers have with this game is irreplaceable good on yall for know why this game is so amazing.
First one is always the best one...get's you hooked worse tham cocaine 🤭 My first was the OG RE2 back in the day
The reason why Chris is so buff is the beatdown he got in Code Veronica. His nemesis came back to life as a inhumanly strong superfast monster with cool glowing eyes. I would hit the gym like a madman too, just to get any conceivable edge. I mean, Weskers strong AF now, but he doesn't weigh more, probably, so I can still lift him and throw him if I am strong enough.
You might be a bio engineered super vaguely human monster...... but do you even lift? 😅 💪
Is he the same weight? I assumed there was some sorta biomass shinanigans making them more dense; like that explosion of flesh whenever any of them transform has to be bundled in there somewhere. I know rapid mutation is the reason; but rapid mutation still would need flesh and energy or else it would just instantly drain and kill you.
Interesting theory, but there is a better one.
In the pool room in REmake there is a poster for an arm wrestling contest.
It is clear that this inspired Chris to have some competition during the RnR after the first game.
he wasn't ever his nemesis its just a cheap thing added in now
I was saying the last sentence from a conceivable Chris PoW. But they are each others nemesis after Code Veronica. On one side theres the guy who blames the other for ruining his plans with the tyrant in re 1 and basically leaving him in isolation with no leverage to join a competitor of umbrela. And on the other is the dude who rightfuly so blames the other for murdering like 85% of their outfit for an experiment, trying to kill him, trying to kill his sister, leaving him to fight a superpowered monster chick and giving him a memoeable beatdown before leaving. This is generalised, but all of this happened before re5 so the whole nemesis thing is there already.
That thumbnail is something else gman 😂😂😂
gman always has banger thumbnails tbf
It rocks
For real bro. It's so good!
Hell yeah!
Reminds me of all the Redfield bloodline memes
That wasn't punching a boulder, Chriss just took a break mid-fight to make same triceps and shoulder series, you know, gotta keep that pump or the cycle will be wasted or something.
Good thing Sheva picked up a plethora of eggs for Chris to have a nice meal after
Chris in RE5 is so Buffed cause of Wesker...
*"You have to become a Sup to Fight a Sup"* .... A quote from "The Boys"
absolutely criminal that Sheva wasn't part of Wolfhound squad in Village
Yeah, Capcom doesn't seem to be good at utilizing their other characters besides Leon.
Jill and Chris could've been your duo in RE6.
I get annoyed when they make up new characters.
@@lucascoval828 There were a lot of r-tards screaming muh waycism around this game to the point where they even took Sheva off the cover for the Gold Edition re-release.
I 'Think' they reused her model in other RE games...... I can't remember the game but they call a lady and it's clearly Sheva in a business suit answering the call and doing research..... I don't know if it was Re6 or Re: Revelations
Special place in my heart, I went into depression during college, spent 3 days in my room, on my computer, smoking weed all day playing this game in the dark....It helped me get out.
This is wholesome af. Good to hear you're doing better buddy 👍
Glad you made it through buddy
Sending bear hug dude.
Good to know your still with us, my friend.
I know it’s not considered the best, but it was the first RE game I actually beat as a kid. Me and my friend played through the entire game in a day. Holds a special place in my heart.
Same here man! First RE game I ever played and me and my bestfriend/God brother spent hours playing loving it
Same here! First one I’ve owned and spent so many hours with my neighbor/friend at the time. Absolutely loved it.
Same here! Never bothered with any of the previous game but had really fun with my friend but TBH we've enjoyed RE6 WAAAAAAAAY more!!!
Same boat
I lost count how many times my best bro and I went through this game. A freaking great time.
This was my first Resident Evil and I still remember my first playthrough of it and the hours I poured into Mercenaries mode as Tribal Sheva. I am absolutely glad I played this game because despite not being like the older titles, it left a massive impact on me when I was 13 and made me want to enjoy the franchise.
I will admit, while I do feel like a remake of this game isn't necessary due to how well it has aged, I would be absolutely down to re-experience this game in VR like I enjoyed with RE4 Remake recently
That RLM reference for Wesker made me pull up their video just so I could see it again. Thank you sir.
When The Residents Are Evil Part 5
When the Bio is Hazardous the Fifth
I remember playing this game and even playing the split screen with my little brother and having a blast. Never took the game super serious.
Same here my friend, back on the xbox
Hell yeah nothing like some brotherly co-op
Same here. Played it splitscreen with my lil bro just a couple of years ago and it was great. The coop really makes this game
Yeah, fond memories of the co-op, less so of playing solo. Solo was fine, but the co-op was a lot of fun.
Same experience, we decided to try it even though it had a shitty reputation, and were pleasantly surprised and confused.
Re5 got my mom into resident evil.
She Professional runs this game solo easy. But also, she beat it with me and then did 6 and went through the anthology on Playstation 3.
It's still my favorite co-op game of all time.
RE 5 with a friend is a 10 / 10. LoL
The whole series has been consistently good. I even enjoyed Resident Evil 6. I had avoided the game for years, because so many people said it was awful. But it really isn't, it's actually a very good game. For me, the three best in the series is RE:4 remake, RE: Village and RE:7.
Have you played Army of 2 in split screen?
@CoffeeFresh_ Ah, a man of fine tastes. Army of 2, such an underrated co-op. That aggro system and sick masks to unlock. Memories.
Resi 5. Left 4 dead. Payday. Top 3 easy
So true, replayable campaign + mercs was just a great package for a game. Still remember looking up how to use Wesker's super speed sprint in mercs and just speeding around the maps. An arcadey action game sure, but lots of fun, and RE5 Wesker remains one of the coolest game villains ever.
I hope the remake has a dedicated Wesker mode in the campaign for you to just wreak havoc like RE0. Also i always thought he didn’t seem to move all that fast when you play him vs fighting him. I like to imagine it’s cause of the hardware at the time, but now that we’re in the generation we’re in, i hope they turn this mf into a speedster
One of my most memorable gaming moments was finishing this in co-op on my 360 with friends (we kept cycling controllers so nobody would miss out), and we defeated Wesker literally with the very last bullet of our combined ammo supply. Good times.
My take is whoever dislikes RE5 never played the co-op. This is legitimately one of the best co-op games I've ever played, because, despite it being rather simplistic, it has been designed very well around the idea of two players interracting with each other
Tag team combos, assists and saves, occasional splitting up the players, bosses designed for two players (for example, Wesker and the first Ouroboros encounter)
Despite being a massive introvert, I absolutely love co-op games. 2-player story mode ones especially, like RE5 and Clandestine. It gives you this feeling of camaraderie. Like you are back-to-back with someone you can trust will cover and assist you when it matters the most. And, well... My go-to game when I really want to feel that way is Resident Evil 5
Army of two is a great coop game as well. I can’t imagine playing it alone
These thumbnails just get better and better.
Resident Evil 5 is still one of my favourite Co-Op games ever. It was simply spectacular to play with a friend.
The big controversy I remember was that it was set in west Africa and there was a virus breakout.
the trailer felt so different thn the actual game and chris was solo but a partner was added due to it being a white guy in africa killing black ppl so they had to alter the game a bit jus because of this ridiculous PC controversy always ruining everything still a solid game tho
I mean, it's a totally idiotic choice by the developers, but I didn't take it as willful racism
@@conradhamilton9122 neither did I, but I do remember the controversy.

The Brosnan Goldeneye towel cut away had me gasping.
This game has a special place in my heart. My sister was working at Best Buy at the time so I got it a little bit early and I knew nothing about resident evil only about the movies and this game is what got me hooked and made me a fan for life. Oh, and I was stuck on the chainsaw guy for about a month.

The thing I like me about survival horror with returning characters is that if a character is returning, from their eyes, they are used to the crazy shit they have to go through more than a first timer.
Of course, for Chris, this game is going to be an action game because he's already survived the Spencer estate.
“You grab it!”
“Okay.”
This was my first RE game, played with my little brother all the time, and stepdad. Even though the nostalgia clouds me a little bit, i still think there is so so much enjoyment to be had in this game, glad to see so many people agree
Nah bud, has nothing to do with nostalgia. I replayed it a late 2022 and it still stand the test of time and is a ton of fun!
That remake tho...especially after the RE4 Remake is gonna be awesome on another level! Capcom don't miss since RE7! ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
@@Rayven2711 so true, we’ve been eating GOOD since 7 released.
RE5 always will hold a special place in my heart. When I finally got my 360 my first two games for it where RE5 and MW2. Easy to say the best two first games you could get for a console to break in. Og RE4 will always be my favorite, but man is RE5 up there pretty high for me.
As someone who also replays older RE games once in a while, MT Framework looks clean even today.
I loved playing 5 with my brother. We had an absolute blast.
I had a great time with this game at my 2nd apartment. I played this a ton with one of my best buds. We played that co-op mode a ton. It was a satisfying gameplay experience & looked good for it's time
9:34 - Well, technically, there's a file in RE6 from her which is addressed to Piers (Chris' partner for that game). It's not much, but at least she didn't completely drop off the face of the earth.
i like how you were able to actually explain the purpose of the boulder punch, but also i wanna add onto the boulder punch in that, he was trying to move the boulder aside, those quick sudden punches can actually help move lodged obstacles, it's why when people use a battering ram to open a door, it's not a consistent force being applied, instead it's more sudden. sudden impacts can help in some instances more than consistent force.
You folks are looking way too much into this lol .
You mash a button, Chris punches a boulder. Dumb Japanese fun. Nothing more to it.
@@flyingplantwhale545 No one asked.
I love RE5 but call the boulder punching sequence anything but realistic, it's just classic RE4 through 6 ridiculousness which I'm pretty sure is what they were going for
i dare you to punch a boulder full force and test this theory.
@@MrBossFML Yeah pretty much...with Re4 Remake in mind I don't really see harmed boulders in RE5R. I fully expect Capcom to make the games darker and even more grim.
I have such fond memories of this game in my late teens, I hadn’t played an RE game since being a child and picked this up during the UK summer holidays in 2009 on a whim. My friend used to come over each saturday to play co-op for a few chapters, it was such a fun time full of laughs.

Me and my cousin completed Resident Evil 5 through co-op, and it was definitely a fun all-nighter. If I remember, we also beat Resident Evil 6 co-op during the same weekend. Nothing better than those simpler times, huh. 😭
Remaking this game is gonna make the media and twitter have a meltdown
This was the first Resident Evil game me and my brother played co-op and it was a blast
I remember getting the Gold Edition of RE5 for PS3, and being excited that I could play through the game with the Wii's pointer control using Sony's Move controllers. Honestly, I still think it's the best way to play through the game. And you can use it with co-op, while your partner can use a regular controller if wanted.
That's blasphemous! But jokes aside I'm glad we moved on from motion controls...they barely worked and were more chore than fun for me :D Kinda like playing with a regular controller wearing thick winter gloves. It does do stuff...not always the stuff player want to tho :P
I had a blast with RE5 back when it launched in the ps3, co-op felt good and i probably cherish it way too much because of the couch co-op (the good ol' days). Went for full platinum, no regrets.
I played through this game with a buddy about 6 or 7 times back in the day and had an absolute blast every time. Still to this day we say "7 minutes" the way Wesker does in his boss fight.
We replayed it a few years ago and it was awesome. I'd love to get a remake with co op intact. Definitely underrated in the series.
I remember playing the demo execution part over and over again with my friends with the online co op. One of the best demos back in the day on the old 360.
This game is so good. People were mad at this game because they will never be as buff as Chris. Simple as that lmao. Man I love RE5! Sick game.
RE 5 was fking AMAZING
Re5 came out around the same time as my best friends birthday, and we ended up staying up all night playing it through in one sitting that night. Very good memories of re5. I really hope they do it justice.
Agreed. You have made me regret not ever tapping into the Mercenaries Mode tho. I preordered this game when it came out, got a 360 exclusively to play this game, skipped school to play it, and replayed the story a dozen times. But never even played mercenaries enough to unlock anything. I repent!! I still have the Gold Edition so Imma get on that. Love your content as always.
Props for the Iron Man Tetsuo reference!
I remember there was an exploit where you could load up on ammo before the boss fight in the elevator and save, then do it again as many times as you want. I had nearly unlimited ammo for all weapons after that, made things fun.
You could also chapter select to that chapter with the boat, get the rocket launcher, and then continue your progress
RE 6, too. It wasn't what people expected. But felt like a Michael Bay movie and the co-op was "chefs kiss"
It’s one of the better co-op games I’ve played. Not all campaigns landed for me and they recycled quite a few assets between them, but every friend I’ve played with had such a good time with this one
if re4 was a campy 80' horror flick then re5 was a campy 2000's miltary action thriller. loved it, and it has the best mercenaries mode to this day.
also helps that jill, sheva, and excella were all smokin'
Can't wait to see a new version of sheva! Re5 never get's old and considering what Capcom did with Re4 Remake this one is gonna be wild!
This is good to know. Hopefully this gets a remastered treatment like the more recent resident evil games have been getting. I do plan to check this out. Thanks for the video\ review GmanLives!
The boulder punch kind of makes sense... My laugh at it is that a punch isn't gonna do more than throwing your shoulder into it. I get it is to move the boulder but punching it is a bit ridiculous in light of a better option... That's what makes it dangerously cheesy like Cheetos.
The worst part of that is the coop mode... they never ever told the player that Sheva's hanging on moment was rhythm based.... not button mash. It's the ONLY time in the game where that is the case and they reuse the mash prompt. If you mashed the buttons she falls and you game over. So the the boulder puncher need to get thru that segment as fast as humanly possible to avoid it.
Needless to say, people got to see a whole hell of a lot of boulder punching in coop.
reverb fart.
wouldn't it be RE: verb fart
I had this on the 360 ages ago and got through a little bit of it back in high school. Played through co-op with my best friend during COVID and had a BLAST. Then I bought the xbox one version that came with the newer Mercenaries mode and all the characters, we became pros at menu reloading. So much fun, man
That RLM footage is now forever part of RE5 playing experience. Wesker cutscenes always remind me of Chris Evans laughing maniacally.
You always seem to have the same opinion as myself, mate. It's such an under apreciated game. I recently downloaded this on ps4 and played it couch co-op style with my wife, and honestly, it was great fun. Couch co-op is an option sorely lacking in video games nowadays.
I swear, if they remake this game and remove the boulder punching, I’ll be deeply disappointed.
RE5 is actually one of my favourite ones. me and a friend had endless fun on this game unlocking all the super weapons and blitzing the campaign
This game will always hold a special place in my heart. I've co-op'd this game so many times with my best mate from the US. The lag always led to some hilarious QTE fails.
nailing a transitional area "response callout" before a screen fade will always be hilarious
RE5 Was a game that I remember playing in co-op with my little sister a ton back in the day, going farming for gems in the bog and messing around in mercenaries mode will always be fond memories.
I remember borrowing RE5 off a friend in highschool. I got close to the end but got stuck at the double minigun guys with no ammo. Gave it back to my mate after a week never finishing it.
Fast forward about 10 years and i saw a copy on xbox 360 for the grand price of £2.99.
Absolute no brainer, bought it and spent a few days smashing through it on every difficulty and had a blast.
Thoroughly underrated game. A remake would be fun, but the OG holds up.
Thank you for showing love to this game. I always actually enjoy it every time I play it, especially the mercenaries.
Played this with my dad during my childhood. Still love it to this day.
I never understood the hate for re5. I swear people just hate on good games sometimes just because it’s trendy
I will always love this game. Always. I played through it on each difficulty with my best friend and its some of the best memories I have of playing a co-op game. We played through RE6 the same way and it was also a blast. Especially making fun of the silly story but the gameplay was still enjoyable.
He went missing in February 2013. Those memories are all ive got of him but it makes RE5 and RE6 very special to me no matter how silly and over the top they are.
Great vid Gman and I appreciate that you love the game as well. I hope youll do a video on RE6 sometime too. Even though its story is absolute dog shit and its Ada clone villain plotline is so bloody ridiculous!
Awesome review as always - thank u "brotha"😂
I HAD to have a second person to platinum this game, some of those licker areas you had to cheese in order to beat them on the highest difficulty, luckily my field at the time was willing to put up with game so thank you, Jennifer, for letting me platinum this game over 15 years ago. Now I feel old
I had a blast playing this in coop over and over. The setting was also very fresh and made this one a unique experience. This and especially 6 definitely deserve much more praise, because they were the peak of the series. No wonder the remakes are much more successful than the sequels...
6 was definitly worse

6 was worse but not bad
Resident Evil 5 is one of my top 3 RE games and I'm glad there's people out there still giving it some much deserved love.
The "What's that? What's that, brother?"-bit got me rolling every single time. Hahaaaaaa!
I had RE5 in my backlog for some years and even touched it one time. Didn't stop because I didn't like it, I simply didn't have the time at the time. But now since you mentioned it...I think it's *time* to head back in. Many thanks fam.
Stun Rod for 99.9% of all your needs. Sniper Rifle for the rest! Don't waste reload upgrades until the weapon is out of ammo as it will give you a free refill.
Don't freak out about missing stuff, get it in NG+ and if you are ever lost and not sure where Sheva's chest is.... hold the partner finder button.
I never understood why so many people hated this game. Yea punching a boulder was dumb but it’s already seen as a classic
QuickTime events, making the game far more of a shooter than 4 was, uncharismatic main characters... It's RE4 but done far worse

@@IhavethetouchRE 4 was already a full on shooter with horror sprinkled in as an easter egg. Not saying that the game is bad, but it's not horror no matter how much some people like to pretend that it is.
The main criticism I have besides the coop thing, is the inventory system because it’s a straight up down grade from an assortment of space and management to literally 9 squares, and I pray to god the inventory system in the RE5R is a straight copy and paste of RE4R.
Not possible if it's a co-op game
RE5's inventory is straight up a version of RE1's inventory but designed for co-op. You can't afford to spend too much time navigating in it so they made it so that you can equip anything in less than a second with the right shortcuts, it's a pleasure to use when you're used to it. It's one of the reasons why Mercenaries mode is so loved
RE4R's inventory is also one of the reasons why Mercenaries mode couldn't be co-op, because they had to change the inventory to do so
My favorite weapon is the bow.
Hunting headshots with it without the reticle is always satisfying. It’s also incredibly overpowered.
Great memories playing this split screen Co op on the PS3 with a friend. Happy times!
Fond memories of this game as a kid. The big cutscene with Wesker at the end, then as soon as it ends he immediately shoots me in the face with his Desert Eagle in an instant kill.
RE5 Was like RE5 but if Michael Bay and James Cameron had a baby in my opinion, you just can't stop watching whatever the hell it is going on.

Thank you for this ✨
Love your channel gman it’s sick bro 👌🎮💯. RE5 was one of my favourite games from the Xbox 360 era, my brother and I would play 2 player co op into the stupid hours of the morning haha. Those were the days. Wow I’m old af 😂
5 and 6 are my favorite. Super silly great action and COOP!!!!
I remember seeing the trailers for this at the time & it blew our minds
Me and my friend had a unique experience with this same so I had only played the og re4 and he had just finished the remake so we decided to play this together and it was really fun and kinda difficult with how you had to manage ammo but it was a blast
The prologue in RE5 with Wesker is odd because I always remembered the revelation of Project W being that Wesker was some kind of test tube supersoldier but then recently I did some lore reading and no. He was literally just adopted. That was the reveal, he became a superhuman after injecting the virus and dying in RE1 which kinda just happened by chance.
Thanks for making this video bring me back to couch coop withmy older brother ❤
Always loved this game. Played it on the 360 back in the day with my brother doing some classic split screen co-op. We stayed up all night completing the campaign.
I still manage to get multiplayer co-op sessions for RE5 on the PS3. Such a fun game.
Love this game! Played it in co-op so much. Looking forward to the remake it if it ever happens!
30:00 damn look at those knee cappin skills.
played it coop with a good friend two years ago. we had a blast
Also, for the combat. If you shoot a majini's knee and get behind them, most characters have an instant kill move that completely circumvents when a parasite would pop out. AND, all characters have a coup de grace move that do a lot of damage. If you shoot a majini's arm and melee them, (For Chris, it's his 'hook',) it'll knock them back and leave them open. If Sheva's behind them, she'll kick them back to Chris, and Chris'll do his most damaging melee move, the haymaker. It's nearly impossible to do with a bot, but it's something fun you can do with your friends.
Also also, different character pairs in Mercenaries Reunion unlock different melee moves. Chris gets a better version of his uppercut when your partner's Rebecca or Barry. Rebecca shoots two flame spouts out instead of one when she's paired with Chris or Excella.
