my mom's best friend from childhood, had/has tickets for the next concert elvis was supposed to perform when he died.
How was the show?
My friend in Portland Maine had one too. He framed it and it hung on his wall for years!
@@taxationistheft2.0 elvis seemed lifeless, not even going thru the motions
My grandma had tickets for three days after he died. Several of my friends' grandparents did too.
The Great Gig in the Sky.
In his 68 comeback show he played some great electric guitar.
Tyler just casually holding a guitar of Elvis' haha. The nostalgia in the bathroom really rides home the magnitude of your memorabilia. What a fantastic piece of guitar history.
Elvis did have some decent guitar chops. Listen to Baby What You Want Me To Do from the ‘68 Comeback Special.
100% correct
I'm an Elvis fan, which is unusual for other 13 year olds and i've always liked his playing, even the simple stuff. (I am a guitar player too)
Same
well i didnt really ask
Wait Tyler I thought I was getting it
glad to see the King still changing peoples lives...even new fans
How can you not be a fan of Elvis!
generic and overrated.. pretty easy to not be a fan if im being honest.
@@sirspongadoodlegeneric? Looking at all your comments you are clearly clueless. 😅
@@Elvis77no, but i guess thats what someone who actually plays music instead of putting overused emojis as an argument...
but reply with another non-argument its really going to help your case 😅
Wow, this is insane! Being a fan of Elvis since my childhood I would be way too nervous even just holding this guitar.
I would scratch my initials on the back like Kirk Hammett did with Greenie.
Of all the movies he did, Elvis said that his favorite was King Creole. Having seen it myself, I can certainly see why - it’s a terrific movie! I’ve also got the original soundtrack for G.I. Blues on vinyl in my catalogue. (I don’t call it a collection; collecting is for stamps, not music.) It belonged to my late grandfather, who I think was about the same age as The King of Rock and Roll himself.
Presley could play some cowboy chords, and also some very basic R&B. You can hear his playing on "Blue Moon"(an early B-side/album cut), and the AM radio version of "Love Me Tender". In the '68 comeback special he does "Baby What You Want Me to Do" and cops a few Jimmy Reed licks on Scotty Moore's big jazz box, a Super 400, I think. Singing was his strong point, so he learned enough guitar to get by when he was starting out, but as soon as he got famous, his people could and did hire the very best accompanists and Elvis only played guitar when he felt like it.
He's the reason I've been doing gigs for sixty-plus years. He was on Jackie Gleason or Red Skelton's TV show before Ed Sullivan and I saw the power of live rock and roll. I knew in an instant what I wanted to do.
I like the positivity😊. I'm not particularly an "Elvis Fan" either but I can TOTALLY respect this...! Very Cool🤘🏻❤️🎸🎶
Elvis ain't dead!!! He just went home!!
I'm from Memphis originally.
I went to Graceland with my mom at 12 yrs old.
Was pretty darn cool in a 70s way.
The "jungle room" has green shag carpet all the way up the walls.👍
Elvis was a good guitarist. He really was.
he wasnt.. he really wasnt.. if he was born in this era and recorded the same stuff nobody would pay attention... it was purely a right place and time thing rather than actually having any talent.
@@sirspongadoodle the stuff from this era is nothing to brag about. people are so starved for entertainment they will accept anything even rap.
The fact it’s so old and still looks like this is crazy
Because it was just a stage prop. Lol probably rarely got played.
I loved Elvis when I was 4 so Rock and Roll was already a passion. One of my earliest memories was Elvis on my Dad's TV. Then Grease at 7 cuz "Greased Lightning" was Elvis -ish...by 10 I was into Michael Jackson and Rush, Def Leppard. All started with Elvis! My eclectic tastes!
Rather than needing to pay for the rights or something, it was probably the other way around. They probably didn't want to give Gibson free product placement in those films. If you want your brand name in a movie, you have to pay the people making the movie for the advertising.
You'd think so, but Gibson people are special kind of assholes
That is insanely cool, and the fact that it was in Blue Hawaii alone will bring huge bids. The stamp inside, too cool. I would personally remove the black and reveal the Gibson logo again. Looks almost mint condition.
I can't believe they are sending it through the mail!
Maybe the insurance would cover the loss? 🤷♂️ seems crazy
@@Noumenon4Idolatry insurance claims can’t be taxed. If the guitar is “loss” or “damaged” in shipping they could claim that 500k (if the bid is 500k) without giving a single dime to the irs
@@dogdie147
That’s crazy. I’ve never heard of that before. Seems like the IRS would want in on that. 😄
@@Noumenon4Idolatry income get taxed, if you sell that guitar that money will get taxed. Insurance is there to only replaced, repaired or compensated if the thing got destroyed or damaged or potentially stolen, can’t taxed that. That’s why there insurance fraud. And it’s damn near impossible to make insurance claim without hard evidence or a lawsuit, Insurance providers will jump to hoops, delayed or even out right lie to not give you the money
Dude those movies mentioned are 3 of his more well known ones. You can find them almost anywhere.
Damn Tyler this is insane so cool you got your hands on that amazing
Elvis was a well rounded musician. He also played piano and bass, quite well.
How do you know?
@@stevecooper3487 he and I were good buddies in the army. We went on many missions, but I can’t talk about those. Let’s just say we killed many, many people. So many people.
@@stevecooper3487how do you not know???
@@jennyjorgensen9935 because elvis is gay and nobody cares if you know about his entire backstory.
Elvis played bass on Baby I Don’t Care and piano on too many records to mention all, but you can hear it on You’ll Never Walk Alone, How the Web Was Woven and It’s Still Here.
I wish I had a half a million dollar guitar that belonged to Elvis
Loving You (1957) - during Party, a song played in the first part of the movie, and for a few songs afterword, until he is gifted with a Gibson Natural finish J200.
King Creole (1958) - when he plays Lover Doll in the 5 and 10 cent store
G.I. Blues (1960)
Viva Las Vegas (1964) - The Lady Loves Me, duet with Ann-Margaret, when he falls in the pool.
There may be more, but those are the scenes I recall by memory.
Your video editing is simply pro. Love your channel and your personality (and guitar chops). Thanks for creating actually really good content. 🙏
Thanks for showing us this and playing it. Sounds really nice.
Lovely turn around there at the end!
Dude I gotta hand it to you, I really like the shift in content to less meme-able stuff, to this kind of content. Love it.
All the history aside, it sounds really good!
Really?? 😂
What a treasure Tyler, How cool to play that one guitar that Elvis played...
"if they are cancelled..." man that made me chuckle out loud!
Cool guitar! It's in amazing shape. Sounds good, too. In case anyone is wondering, the outro song is Girl in Black J.F. Gloss.
Dig your playing dude! Wish i could improvise like that!
6:03 you mean the 40's or 50's, not the 70's.
Farking hell, when are you gonna do a guitar 🎸 Giveaway!
Thank you for working with my daughter Audra McLaughlin- she is an awesome artist and person :)
Tyler does the opening in his acoustic room.. where he has a picture of an acoustic hanging
That’s one nice sounding prop!
so funny , the Scarf Dude !!! you crack me up Tyler
If I was Elvis home in Graceland, back in the 1960s with that guitar, I would be strumming some Nirvana.
Omg what !!!! ❤❤ i want it
Sweet!
Graceland is not on LA,it's in Memphis,Tennessee
Tyler can you make a video on the best guitar shapes for each genre
Certainly not the strangest job title,Puff Daddy had Farnsworth Bentley as his assistant/umbrella holder.
King Creole is his best movie...maybe his only good movie. Scotty Moore and James Burton? Holy crap...what a journey you're about to go on. Remember, Scotty had no reference to go to...he had to make up that style on the fly. Burton may be one of the best guitar players ever.
Considering that elvis left behind critically acclaimed recordings in multiple genres of music, if you're not a fan, then you don't like music. That's how great he is.
Totally agree with you. TCB ⚡
I have a late 90s Carlo Robelli that looks IDENTICAL to this lol
J45 is a great guitar. I have a J45 Custom Gibson
Totally off topic , but can you do something with : how to play lofi guitar? Love to see your take on it
The question is.. how did you get this guitar? I really want to know.
I have to say I'm a little disappointed in your attitude towards Elvis. I myself am not a huge fan of his but have much respect for a musician of his caliber
I noticed the same as well, first video on this channel I've disliked due to Tyler's attitude and generally poor knowledge about Elvis.
I've been watching him for a long time as well and this is the first time I did enjoy watching his video
@@grabekna nobody cares dude had elvis be making music today and not when he did nobody would know he existed.
you have respect to me and my music?? i play more interesting stuff with more depth and have spent way longer on the guitar than he EVER did.. but no i wasnt born in the right place at the right time...
Graceland is in Memphis Tennessee
Is it just me or that bridge on the guitar is installed the other way around?
Love the GI blues poster, looks like the headstock snapped off 04:11...Go Gibson.
Think that’s a strap
If Elvis was in the title it would get more views imo.
As a big Elvis fan...especially his movies...I'm very skeptical about this guitar. The guitars that featured in his movies had ZERO finishes on them. This was to stop them reflecting under the studio lights. I can obviously see this one is finished in Nitrocellulose. That is a big flag for me. Could it off been applied after? Sure, but why wouldn't you keep it original? Also, the colour seems off. Elvis's J45's in the movies seemed to have a much lighter coloured burst, this is quite a dark burst. Sure it's stamped by Paramount but is it THE one or, one of the ones in the ACTUAL movies...questionable.
Meanwhile me saving for a modern eagle V through my part time job.........
My dream acoustic now lol 😂
Isn't "That's All Right" in A?
But did Charlie Hodge get his supplies from a scarf joint?
Coat, etc....
Its got a great tone: bright, but not too bright. I just love acoustics. I mostly strum now and a fuitar like that would fit that need quite well...but kudos to whoever gets it...cause it sure as hell aint me...😅
Is it common to ship guitars like this? Seems like I would be very nervous to send this in the mail 🤷♂️
Well I dont really know if Elvis was a good guitar player. But I know he always had great guitar players in his band
is it thee'' or just a replica that's highly saud after?
Nice
Take a look at. Elvis on tour and 66 comeback he was playing well he wasn’t jimmy h but nobody was
'68 Comeback, not '66.. Lol
J-45's have such an unmistakably full sound.
The most affordable alternative is a Blueridge BG-40.
Perhaps a keyboard or drum set in front of the commode would be good.
I SEE ALSO SCOOTY MOORE GUITAR ON YOUR WALL
epic
🤠👾
That Epiphone surely can't be intonated with a bridge at that angle?
Would make a great lefty by just changing the nut though.
The white Strat is LH, so maybe the Epiphone was strung upside down.
Que pasa
He actually play guitars. He didn't pretend .his crew and Elvis would practice on their guitar in the jungle room
Hey brother I am a guitarist as well and I play a quite decent . But I really need a new electric guitar but can't afford one 😞
Thanks for choosing my comment as the prize winner. Please reach out to arrange shipping. Thanks
I can't with this fucking thumbnail 😭
Elvis was a good player in one early record , bill black couldn’t get his lick s right and Elvis did it.
Where's your blue suede shoes?
I'm related, someone buy this for me. Seriously. You don't think he'd be mad If I threw down on some Zac Brown, Stapelton, Colter Wall, or Dave Matthews on it?
Hell, just buy it and let me record a few tunes on it.
Just decent? The Elvis movie was a 10/10!
You have a left-handed strat? If you don't need it, well... Also I notice toilet seat down this time - well done!
That does totally fly today, film or TV productions put black electrical tape over the guitar logo and it eliminates brand association.
Is it me, or does that j45 have a very "tinny" overtone, more than a maple top even
There on you tube bro
If you look closely in the Elvis movies, the guitars magically play without strings.
No, he was really just that good that his hands alone moved the air.
All seriousness aside I wonder if that was to keep the dialog and singing from set clean and usable without any guitar noises from Elvis mucking about on the instrument?
@@j_freed I think that’s why. It’s likely they were using a live backing track he lip-synced along with.
What movie? The only time his guitar didn't have strings was when he was doing a movie screen test.
“Elvis” was way better than “ehh.”I didn’t like it at first but after re-viewing it, I changed my opinion. Because Baz Luhrman’s production is so over the top (that’s what he does) it’s easy to lose track of how good the acting and story telling is. Austin Butler did a great Elvis. And Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker? Comer on, man. Serious acting chops and incredible makeup. The movie is as much about Colonel Parker as it is about The King Of Rock And Roll. May be watch it again with a more open mind.
PS ~ Elvis DID play guitar and what he played, he played well. He had “feel.” This J-45 may have indeed been a prop, but he could play some. Not saying he was a polished or excellent guitar player, but he got around the fretboard ok. He didn’t pretend to be a lead guitar player. That’s why he had Scotty Moore and James Burton. These comments on his playing just might … possibly … come with a wee bit of jealousy, ya think?
@@larrypower8659 elvis was shit... nobody is jealous of him, bye.
Elvis was a performer and an amazing singer, not a guitarist. Guitar came second for him. Kind of like Kurt Cobain.
Still both legends.
I'd really love to see Gibson try to sue the movie company for using a legitimate historical piece in a movie. I'm not a lawyer but I don't think they have a chance in hell of winning
Excuse me I'll be in the bathroom for awhile!
Graceland.... Memphis not LA.

I like to keep my full-size upright bass in the shitter for when I go poo.
Everything in the nostalgia bathroom is coated in poop particles.
Please, please do the interview with "VITO BRATTA " before he pass away, they are gettin older and older..
Ah yes. Elvis’s guitar. So probably never truly played. Great stage prop though.
If you aren't an Elvis fan, you must have bad taste in music. What is not to like? He was the GOAT.
