    Thanks Craig. I don't know how a noob to digital like would ever figure this out on this radio!.😅👍🍻

    Thanks for this. Exactly what I needed. Thinking of running a 2m bbs over the summer.

    Craig, you are right about constantly changing DT gain and some other settings. Hardest part has been remembering to change the Baud rate when switching between windows and the DigiPi. Occasionally have to use Vara for ARES/RACES. Have to switch over to the windows tablet for that. I need to take a weened and put together a cheat sheet. You sent these to me through conversation and they worked for the DigiPi. Love the project. Now need to order a soundcard, mofset and a few other items so I can get that 818 running in the field. Just trying to figure out if I'm going to use the mic jack or if I'm going to use the data din jack in the back. First I have to figure out what is easier. Once again thanks for a video on this.

    Thanks for clarifying the ALC. (literally) Really helped things with my FT8 setup. You are the Digi-Master. 😛

    Another good video! Is it my imagination or is the bumper music getting better?

    The FT-991 is really an old school radio with just a sound card built in. I wonder if you can save these settings for digital. Then save a phone or CW setting so you do not need to change these each time you do different modes.

    I have an FT-991A I picked up used. It’s a good, reasonably low-noise radio, basically an FT891 with a waterfall and a sound card. The part yaesu missed was they did not consider digital modes seriously. In later radios they did and you will see profiles to allow easier switching modes from Digital to CW or SSB. Too bad they missed adding that to the 991. That keeps this from being a great radio.

      Agreed. With the 991 u must manage the DT gain knob and watch the ALC meter.

    So to all data functions all this would need is a USB for the sound and a Serial to USB for the control. Nothing else needed on 991 right?

    • @KM6LYW
      @KM6LYW  6 місяців тому +1

      Yup, serial and audio are all over the same usb cable.

    Hello, I need your support. I use an FT 991A and do WSJT-X via HAM Radio Deluxe. I set up the connection properly and the sound card also works. I control PTT via RTS. My problem is that when I go on air the MODE switches from D-USB to USB by itself. What could this be and do you have a solution? THX

    • @KM6LYW
      @KM6LYW  Рік тому

      i don't think the 991 does PTT via RTS. Using a single usb cable for the entire thing right? should be cat control via hamlib, and enter the proper rig.

    Had DigiPi 1.6V1 working with a FT991. Downloaded V2 and I cannot get it to work, gone back an installed V1 and its working fine, same settings.
    Could a logging programme be incorporated so that all the programmes log to a central area and have the ability to export it to this likes of Log4om and/or HRD? And to use as a stand alone logging programme

      Hi Dan, 1.6mkI was setup for the yaesu991 by default for wsjtx/sstv/fldigi, 1.6mkII is setup for the icom705 by default for those apps. If you go into the radio configuration menus for each of those apps, you can change it back to yaesu991, 38400, /dev/ttyUSB0. All the direwolf/ax.25/packet stuff will work according to the values you fill out in the initialize screen. it's just the gui apps that'll need tweaking.

      @@craig9309 Hi Craig, Spent a few hours yesterday and a few images no joy. Today started again, new image, same setting and its worked. I wasnt clear with my issue, it was the Rig Control Daemon was showing red. By the way V! the settings did not populate the programms they had to be done one by one and thats the same with V2. Anyway all working, so how about a logging programme linked to all the apps and for logging special events and comps? Keep up the good work.

    Hi when I change the WIDTH my Yaesu only going to 500 no more do you know why

    • @KM6LYW
      @KM6LYW  2 роки тому

      yah, that happens more often than not, hit the [F] key and look for the [WIDTH] button. set it to 3000
      also look for the [NAR] (narrow/wide) button, set it to WIDE. The 991 isn't obvious in this regard. 'tis why i made the video.
