- A small tribute to the untiring and continuing efforts of volunteer members of the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This is locomotive 722 formerly of the Southern Railway and sister to the 630 still owned and operated by TVRM. It is old video, but I hope you will enjoy it.

GSMR just announced they’re beginning a restoration on 722!
That’s great! I hope they can someday take it to TVRM and run it on a special doubleheader with 630 over the Missionary Ridge Local line.
8:45 whistle sounds wonderful.
One of 630’s 2 “regular” whistles. Tom Long’s IC 3 Chime whistle was used on 2716 from 1981-1983 (it stayed on the loco once it was out of service for a time). 630 was using the V&SW at the time, so 722 used the 6 chime. Later on an SP 5 chime (I don’t remember if it was the desert or regular) was used some on 722 and the CofG back on 630.
@@jacobwoods8738I believe it was the sp standard 5 chime. There aren’t many desert 5 chimes left.
Wow seeing how much TVRM has changed is really something. Great footage!
finally I find a video of 722 and not some lame single picture with a sound recording going over it
Y'all ran 'er good and hard that day it looks like! Loved every bit of it.
Punninator1 Well, she is getting restored, and hopefully we will buy her after GSMR restores her.
I really want to see 722 back at TVRM after the GSMR restores it.
Thanks for posting!
This Is Great We Love Trains 🚂 🚂 🚂 🚂 💕
I loved it, awesome video. Thanks for posting it.
Rip 722, gsmrr is not taking care of her, they started taking her apart and left her outside.
Northern VA Railfan It’s started restoration!
Consolidation Productions Were on the same page. I’m helping you.
SouthernSignalProductions where’s your info
MUSE Riko I got mine from a friend of mine that works there.
MUSE Riko Something called friends, and GSMRs Instagram page.
It was good to see this. Waiting for this Saturday, March 29, to catch 630 on the AGS on a 21st Century Steam Trip to Attalla, Alabama. Also can't wait to see 4501 again in action very soon!!
TVRM never owned 722. 722 was leased to them for them to operate. Then when it retired, they sent it to Great smokey mountain railroad where it sits in pieces to this day.
it's great smokey mountains railroad
Norfolk Southern owns 722
Kevin Jackson 722 is actually owned by the GSMR, they made the purchase in December of 2000.
Stephen Hook Southern 722 was bought in 2001 by GSMR, but she has started restoration.
SouthernSignalProductions where did you find that restoration has began?
Let's hope 722 runs again
It is getting restored at Great Smoky Mountains after #1702 is rebuilt.
Yeah, Let's hope both 1702 and 722 run again together and perhaps a doubleheader with them might be possible one day too!
Brian Falzon The restoration has started! The sad thing is it will be oil fired like 1702. :[
@@consolidationproductions I hope that she 722 Will not burn oil. Southern only had coal burning locomotives other than the Locomotives from a railroad called with a E in the name
Amy Reynolds GSMR isn’t getting involved in any more fires after what happened at D&S. Plus in the Smokys oil burning is cheaper.
#fireup722
9:15 TVRM used to own and use a caboose? Surprised they used to do this.
they own like 4 and use them occasionally
@@DAPchatt I see thx
@@evanf1293 any time
Thought it was a nice video! again!
What’s the actual condition of 722’s boiler right now
plans to restore 722 is on the way after 1702 is finished
Nate Chapman Smoky Mountain Railfan & Game Farm Southern 722 had started restoration.
Fire up 722
they should bring back the 722
Jim Bowers GSMR owns her, but she started restoration today.
@@MatthewPowell509 they took her apart again
Southern valve gear
here's a stupid question. Didn't the d&sng buy the gsmr??
The GSMR and Durango and Silverton are both owned and operated by American Heritage Railways. The company also owned The Texas State Railroad at one time.
What happened to southern 722 anyway?
She went to The Great Smokey Mountains Railway where 1702 operates. However 722 isn't running at the moment
@@EngineerDaylight She's now being restored to operating condition.
Why TVRM why did you have to sell her, now she is apart from her sister and may never run again.
It is getting restored at Great Smoky Mountains after #1702 is rebuilt.
The whole deal behind 722 is kinda of hit and miss. SOme people say it was because TVRm didnt need it or want it and other say it had to do with mechanical and boiler problems (which is true to this day) If 722 where to run again, it would need to be put in the hands of someone who could afford to build a new boiler for it and fix the frame.
Christopher Huffman The shop crew at TVRM has a very solid record of proving that they know how to restore a steam locomotive to full operating condition. The work they have done on Engines 630 and 4501 is first-rate. I have read that GSM intends to convert the 722 to burn oil. Horrors! Prevent this sacrilege and send her back to Chattanooga! Permanently.
Toledo1940 Well eliminating the use of coal is environmentally friendly and it can help prevent forest fires. I am a very green person about railroad operations.
Erich Diebold I am also an environmentalist, but I care about historical accuracy. Something important is lost when an engine's fuel is changed from that which it burned during its entire service life. An oil-burning steam locomotive in North Carolina? In the middle of coal country? Burning a high-grade coal is about as detrimental to the environment as burning Bunker C. Even worse for the environment is burning used engine oil, which some tourist roads do.
