I think you throw this comparison out and fix the mega depth to get a much better comparison and also… adjustments are everything. No one runs them straight out of the box and adjusting both to there prime settings would have been a better side by side.
Yeah, im not impressed with the comparisons because the footage settings for the mega live wasnt calibrated to match the aettings for the other unit. Also the conditions werent good at all for making the video. I would have taken the time to capture the data on a calm water. The comparison wasnt fair except for the trolling motor feedback on the mega live. All that tells me is that the sensitivity may have been better set, or their software needs an update to diversify and separate wlectromagnetic feedback better. Both units are great units and ive not found one yet to be great at everything. Also the cost of doing the live view upgrade is a big factor as well.
Why did you guys not set them to the same settings? How impartial is it to use different distances & different depths of side by side comparisons of any sonar details? Going more granular even? Having things like "the boat wasn't moving much"... HUH? Find structure/cover, double anchor bow & transom so the boat is simply not moving then do compares. I don't get it---what am I missing here? I like the details presented but it's really sloppy with leaving variables as variables that are easily eliminated. Thumbs down. Testing is testing. Variables simply must be eliminated or it's not any kind of valid testing.
(lvs34)In 25-30' of water I'm able to pin point big cruising fish up to 110' out. I usually search with a 100' beam then close in on them and shorten the beam to 55-60' to start sharp shooting.
I have neither and that wasn't a very good comparison, you should have the depths and the distance set the same. Not setting one half the distance and half the depth and going oh look you can see so much more with the one we set up to see the most

Glad to know someone feels the same way I do. I am NOT changing out my H-bird network despite LS generally being regarded as better. I mostly troll, so Mega might be good enuff for me...👍
"Brushless" is VERY VERY noisy. Learn how brushless works.. A brushed motor is straight DC Current, where as Brushless is NOT! You can install ferrite beads to help.

not having same depth range big factor. but also noticed one screen shot you said same tree the garmin trees were 20' away while bird was 10' away so narrower cone at that distance. so these were actually run at the same time side by side correct. or were they on 2 trips different days? also notice that you would show a clump of trees and side by side video you said bird was showing the school of fish but it actually did a few seconds later when that same group of trees came in to range. also the bigger fish that swam by on the bird didn't show on the garmin?
we are looking into it. surprised it as it since it is on a brushless motor AND no other FFS had the issue with it was installed on it as well. Our best guess at this time is the motor and megalive is hitting the same frequency. It isn't being backfed thru the battery charger as the megalive and apex 13 was on a stand alone lithium battery for our tests.
Probably correct on the frequency being the same. I was mostly concerned the brushless motor isn’t very quite underwater like seen in another UA-cam video. Have you noticed if the ghost is loud underwater?

Garmin makes updates so easy with the Active Captain app. Mine update sitting in my driveway through the app. The Garmin unit has its own Wi-Fi network. Connect via Bluetooth to your phone and click update. So easy!
Not setting the bottom range on the humminbird really invalidates this test. The Garmin would probably still be superior tho.

100 percent agree. Out of the box testing is worthless in my opinion. Lets see what they are actually capable of.
any fish worth catching should mark very well on default settings. to me this sounds like a cry for humminbird to be portrayed as better than it is.
I have mega live its no comparison...the lvs34 blows it out the water. The 32 is comparable but the 34 is way better

Guys, you have to run a real test showing both units set at the same down and forward range. Without that, the test is no good.

Have you tested the GT 54 transducer working the lvs 34 plus at the same time?

Any update since HB just released some updates?
Them birds not far from the garmins now close , think both are great , way better than lowrance now.

I’m 100% a Garmin guy ! I have 3 UHD 93’s, Live Scope, and they are pretty user friendly.
