    I noticed a quirk with the ford online shop and tracking cookies, and that is if you search and check for the parts you need but come back again later - you might find there is now a discount. I think its deliberate as other online retailers do this to try and entice a sale.

      I've noticed this several times! I sit and wait a day and this can happen more often than not!

      @@usuallyfixingtinkering managed to get serious bargains. Half price water pump and 40% off a speed sensor aha.

    Im lucky as i have two proper different types of sockets for the sensors to take them off and a tap and die set big enough if the threads are warn

    good job again

    Have you checkrd for vacuum leaks , especially pcv valve/ tube ...mine was split causing un measured air getting in and causing a lean condition
    The ecu compensated for the lean condition by running rich destroying the cat in the process

    Certainly a job not thought about yet but will do it at some point. Though last MOT indicated mine was still good for now. Thanks.

      It's fun getting them out plenty of wd40 and blow torch I've had to get them out even with the proper socket

    Thats weird? i also changed my tps 2 times with a new aftermarket one.
    And the value was on both sensors 16% at idle.

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering  9 днів тому +1

      @@scottykilmer3920 that is reading wrong my friend they should be 20%. Give or take 1%. 16 is too low and will cause performance loss as the ecu is not being given the correct baseline figure for throttle position. Aftermarket ones can be known to do this.
      What is your idle speed?

    • @scottykilmer3920
      @scottykilmer3920 9 днів тому +1

      Well my Oem Ford tps was showing 18% at idle, the car runs great, there is no power loss. My idle stays at 850 rpm when the engine is warm.

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering  9 днів тому +1

      @@scottykilmer3920 that's nester the value. Isn't that the OEM one you replaced?

    • @scottykilmer3920
      @scottykilmer3920 8 днів тому

      Yup, with the Oem tps the car was sluggish and not sharp on the throttle response. After replacing with a aftermarket one, it became alive, I just don't know if it has to do with because it's new or because the value is different from the OEM sensor. I like it very much for what it is right now. 😇
      but you are right, most Ford focus mk1 has a value between 19% and max 20%

      Now that I've seen your video, I was convinced to take my new aftermarket TPS out from under it ! and did a little DIY mod on the tps, so i can move the sensor a little bit to adjust the tps voltage.
      I moved the sensor until I saw a value of 20.392% But now my fuel consumption became very high, and my idle is around 950rpm ! 🥺
      but I think the ECU should be reset after such a mod.

    I always put copper grease on the threads for when you undo it again later. iv just done all mine and the Cat. GG tho

    • @petergrinnell2500
      @petergrinnell2500 9 днів тому +1

      That's exactly what I do as they are a nightmare to take out even with the proper socket as I've had to WD 40 and my blow torch to get the original one out

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering  3 дні тому

      You have to be careful with copper grease especially on these sensors and spark plugs. The copper is a conductor and could seep onto the sensor and corrupt its signals to the ECU. Ford technician once told me that.
