My Dad had a custom haying business when I was in junior high. Sadly both a baby deer and a mother jackrabbit got caught in the mower. We were able to save the baby jackrabbits and gave them to a wildlife sanctuary to be raised.
So sad for momma and fawn. A short life, but still impactful. RIP little one❤. I'm happy for you, Lester, that your land will be able to produce so much needed hay. Score!😊
What a blessing to have a field of your own that can supply the babies with all they need. Also just remembered that Memorial day is a day to remember the fallen soldiers that never made it home. You are supposed to fly the flags at half mast until noon on that day.

What a beautiful sight to see all green this year. I know all the floods haven't been good, but last year had me crying just about every time I watched. The drought was horrible and I was really worried. Now to have the beautiful J&L also. What blessings.
JL ranch sure was a godsend. Look at all those rolls of hay. That must be a relief to not have to worry about after all the droughts the last couple years
It didnt take Mr. Ed long to get the hay field mowed and rolled. Next hay that grows hopefully you will beable to keep. I do hope you get enough hay for all the babies for winter. It comes with the sweetest of blessings and can deliver some hard blows as well. I know, in nature, that every year there will be Bambi’s that lose their Momma’s and Momma’s that lose their Bambi’s. Mother Nature isn’t always fair and gentle or soft, she can be very harsh and cruel too. It’s just unfortunate that you needed to clean up after this accident. I’m sure that wasn’t easy for you. Praying the NEW work on the spillway stayed intact💖❤ poor lil fawn But.. that's farm life and yes.. it's sad but it can happen cuz you just can't see the lil babies in hay fields. We had a bear cub run over by a baler this first cutting but the other cub did run and survived. I cried Lester over the cub and 101 bales of 100-lbs each. It was beautiful to see the bumper crop from all the rains and sad about the cub.. it's ok to get emotional Lester um.. at least that's what I'm telling myself 💔💖❤
We have a big hay field behind our house and every year the farmer has this happen to him, and baby deer is in the tall grass, because its mother tell them to stay there to be safe. Its happens very year at least once. Its either in the roller, or when they cut it. So sad.
We have the same problems here in my country with baby deers. On farmers lands the moms hide their babies for predators when they go out to fourage themselfs the babies lays motionless in the high grass and most of times the big machines smashes the babies. Most of times what we do here is use drones with warmth sensore to locate the babies.
I guess I blanked? I’m unable to be a member so I guess we didn’t get to see it on just the normal UA-cam channel showing. The one I looked at, didn’t have any need for any warnings so it was unnecessary. Good insight into his into his Lestersemotions and caring for animals
Farm life you will see accidents. There's no way to stop it. But when you show they are far and between that proves the care you givevto even make sure accidents don't happen.
That is nature as sad as it is. Now that I'm watching from your drone do you think maybe next time before Mr. Ed comes to cut the hay again you could fly your drone around the field and maybe see if there is a fawn bedded down? Just an idea

It was an accident. We use to do hay years ago, and my husband ran over a baby dear with our mower. I t is nobody’s fault. It happens sometimes because you can’t see the baby deer.
Congrats Lester on the first cut of hay that fawn was told to lay still and it listened to its Mom if it was older it would of run from danger but it didn't know any better lots of thing died with that cutting its just the reality of the cutting I actually thought you were going to show a snake you would of never known that the fawn was there
I have a complaint.... When the drone went over the Longhorns it didnt give us the opportunity to count them all. Now this is not something I would normally complain about but this is your fault. You have made our brains want to count the Longhorns & beautiful Garry everytime we see them in a group 😂😂😂
My great uncle used to have his sons go in front of him on their 4 wheelers to see if they could find fawns laying in his hay.
